Hard to pick an MVP on a team that distributes so well and gets everyone involved; there's no clear "best" player from game to game. I'd give it to Kawhi Leonard at this point; he's shown up huge in both road games, which are arguably more important victories than home games. If he can put together one more great performance in a Spurs victory, that award should be his.

Called it!

What should Spo have done different?

I don't think they were that cohesive as a team, so my thought was in reference to whether or not there were some chemistry and dissatisfaction issues behind the scenes. I don't know how haslem wound up so far down the bench or why james or bosh rarely got the ball closer to the basket. Wade's no-show was the biggest shocker but that's unfortunate lack of health, not decision making, yet probably the biggest single factor in the heat's poor performance (out of the many factors.)

There's usually a few things that leak out after a devastating series is over like this. On the other hand, I doubt spoelstra could have done much to reverse their fortunes with the way the spurs played unbelievable team basketball on both ends.

Duncan is a machine. The whole team is a well-oiled machine. Been like this since Duncan got there. Congrats!!!

Spurs just play too well together... that chemistry

And it's like they have that #1, 2, or 3 lottery pick the team gets to be the future of the franchise, after the stars retire and the team tanks to quickly become one of the worst in the league...except the stars are still there to play with the lottery pick, lol. (obviously leonard wasn't their draft pick tho.)

In fact it's the 2nd freaking time it's happened...david robinson gets injured, the team tanks, drafts duncan, then the aging robinson's there to play along side and mentor the talented youth and future of the franchise...and convert it into a ring.

Didn't drink, overpriced beer at games. Drove in, met my Dad and step-mom so my wife could go with her and I could take my Dad to the game. I should have taken my camera but I can post some pics from my phone in the morning. Gotta be up in 4 hrs for work!

if LBJ had to make a decision tonight he'd be OUT. he looks pissed.

I'd be pissed too, everyone else on his team looked too scared to even try and make a difference

As much flak as Russell Westbrook might get for being an idiot, I think it almost works in his favor as I think he might be too stupid to be afraid to actually try and make a difference...which is exactly what the Heat needed this series... Just watching the Heat play hot-potato with the basketball as if no one wanted the responsibility of the situation was really something else. They had pretty much no chance when James wasn't on the floor, and when he was they were more often than not trying to force the ball to him pretty much saying, "here you go James, carry us."

As far as MVP, I'd have given it to Ginobili, although I suppose Leonard is a fitting recipient. However it was almost always Ginobili (not just in the finals, but throughout the playoffs) who would give a major boost off the bench and shift the momentum of a game, and it was every game, not just the last three like we saw with Leonard. He was also far and away the most consistent player out of the Spurs' "big 3".

But back to the Heat... Wade looks completely irrelevant now. They coddled him all season for this kind of performance? He wasn't making excuses about being too injured, so what does that mean, are you just terrible now, Wade? Watching Ray Allen was also kind of conflicting, on the one hand he was one of the only players on the Heat not named LeBron who looked like he actually wanted to be in the playoffs and fighting for another title, on the other, I think he's lost too much to be a starter. Bosh was also pretty inconsistent, but just based off of these playoffs as a whole, he'd be the new #2 in my mind (although on a decline), Wade looks like he's done, put a fork in him.

Not one, not two, not thr.., oops just two for now.

Congrats to the Spurs for thoroughly dominating the Heat. This is a huge blow to the Heat Nation and an even bigger blow to the Heat butt-lickers, ESPN.

Glad they got it done, I loved when Duncan said "It... it makes last year OK now" lol.

Also the Spurs owner was hilarious to listen to. And I thought Silver did a great job - he was visibly excited about the result (and I thought giving a nod to the Heat even in the face of the SA crowd [who were silent and probably nearly ready to boo] was a classy thing to do] and simply to be in the position he's in. I think having that kind of enthusiasm and love for the game that high up in the league is a very positive influence.

Curious to see how the summer plays out. What happens with both the Heat and the Spurs next?

And of course

I feel bad for Lebron. He moved out of Cleveland for this exact reason. He just couldn't carry a team on his own against someone like the Spurs. Their team is something special though. They did go to 4 straight finals. I am sure all the Lebron haters will say "but it is in the East! It doesn't count!"

Spurs really played great. They started off awful and really pulled it back together, something the Heat were unable to do in previous games. Great coaching by Pop. I just wonder if this is what Duncan was waiting to go out on or will he try another season? He seems content with switching to merely a role player, which could keep him around.

Also, I am hoping Battier gets an NBA commentary gig, rather than the rumored college one. Wouldn't mind him. He is surely better than Mark Jackson.

Yeah, they only won consecutive NBA titles, they really suck.

Seriously, congrats to the Spurs; I thought LeBron was graceful in defeat. 31-10-5 in a losing effort, only idiots will continue to give him shit for this.

Eh, I don't know. Lebron left the floor pretty early IMO. He really gassed out after the first as well. If he could have kept up what he did then the entire game, Heat might have one. But, Lebron scoring 17 and the rest of his team scoring around 5 doesn't really help when the Spurs are playing well.

Good thing though, is Wade might finally be cut and the Heat will have an extra $16+ million to get some good role players.

TBH, I didn't see it, but I read that he congratulated most of the Spurs and had a few moments with Pop as the game was ending, then quickly headed off the floor after the final buzzer, and waited a while before his press conference when he praised the Spurs and put the loss on his own shoulders. Not sure what else he should have done? I mean, he's not going to stay out on the floor and celebrate...

I meant he left the game early. He hardly played in the 4th. After his stellar first quarter (both offense and defense), he sort of checked out and was on auto pilot. Lebron played pretty much his entire 41 minutes without a rest. He had 17 points in the first quarter and 14 in the next 3 (missing the last 7 minutes or so).

It really sucks for him. He led the team in every stat except for fouls and steals. When your star player has the most rebounds, the most assists, the most blocks, wtf is everyone else doing?

I agree he did all he could. He was playing solo against a vastly superior team. The Heat continued to pull help from someone who could shoot 3s. Patty Mills got how many wide open looks? Spo should have known doubling anyone on the Spurs is a bad idea. And besides, if the Heat drop Wade, they get a ton of space to help get in some role players. They are also losing Battier (not the highest paid, but still gives them an additional $3.2m).
