They always do this on these bank holidays. Today is Columbus Day (US) and Thanksgiving (CAN). They always have day games on Columbus Day and other bank holiday's. I guess because everyone in Canada has today off

I was pretty hungover from Saturday & Sunday so I watched that game DVR'd...

Since Marc Savard got Cooke'd the Boston PP has been very anemic.

League PP rank:

2012-2013: 26th
2011-2012: 15th
2010-2011: 20th
2009-2010: 23rd

They've had players on the team who have been known PP producers during their careers. Kessel, Kaberle, Jagr, and currently Chara, Iginla, and Eriksson. It's the same old crap -- pass around the perimeter, get the puck to Chara, Chara shoots and misses the net or passes the puck. Rinse, repeat. It's maddening.

Detroit had a pretty goal on that Datsyuk cross-ice dish and then their back up goalie slammed the door.

I think to truly rid the game of those hits, half season/full season then lifetime bans need to become the go-to punishment at this point.

Maxim Lapierre has been offered an in-person disciplinary hearing with the NHL after his hit from behind on San Jose Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle.

The in-person meeting means that Lapierre could be suspended for five games or longer as per the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Maybe he'll get a ten-gamer. Then he can commiserate with his fellow douchebag Kaleta.

A lot of teams play the Hawks straight up. Take Carolina yesterday, for example. The Canes didn't feel the need to take run after run after run at the Hawk's top players on offense and defense. They played hockey.

Most teams do engage the Hawks in a game of actual hockey (even the Kings and Ducks), and I appreciate that. Only a few, such as the Nucks under AV and the Blues consider it "beneath them", I guess.

I am enjoying the way the Sharks have started the season. I am spending a lot more time in the SF Bay area these days (have lived there off and on sine 1999) and should be able to see them play a few games this year.

The Habs, my true home team, have been too inconsistent and are getting injured too much. I do not think they are big and tough enough to last the season. Hopefully their farm team is deep enough to get them through the year.

Habs almost blow a 3-0 game and squeak out a 5-3 win (empty net goal). The Bluejackets seem to have been taking advantage of their years of poor performance leading to good draft position and have a big and pretty decent looking team now.
