Not sure if Boston's PP is bad, or Detroit's PK is good. Was that 0-5 for BOS, *with* a 5 on 3?

who the hell thought a 1 pm game on a Monday was a good idea?
Here's a pic of that snipe by Zetterdude;

In before a Via protest of "The Blues don't play hockey. I don't know what you call it, but it's not hockey."

Kronwall said of the hit:

"I'm ok. It's just so unnecessary (to put himself in that spot). It was mostly my own fault".

McLeod will probably get a game or two, but I don't think he'll get more.

He shouldn't get more any way

Respect for Kronwall saying that because he should be partly to blame. He knows better then to turn like that and not pay attention to what could happen

That hit is indefensible. McLeod never saw anything other than Kronwall's back. He skated all the way from beyond the blue line looking at Kronwall's back. There was no point where he could have believed he was going to make a legal hit. That's just dirty.

He has an in-person hearing BTW. That is only necessary for suspensions of 5+ games. That doesn't mean he will definitely get 5+ games, but he probably will.

I'm not so sure about him having no responsibility....he did turn at the last moment. If he would have kept going along the boards the hit would have been a run of the mill hockey hit. The turn put him in a dangerous position. I don't want to see guys getting hurt because of dirty checks from behind, but if a player turns at the last moment then he is partly responsible too.

tough situation for both players...I'm sure Shanahan will get it right.......uhhhh probably not.

Obviously Kronwall disagrees with you. He admitted it was partially his fault and I think he knows better than you

Maybe you misread my post, because I didn't say anything about Kronwall being partially at fault one way or the other.

I can see the debate on how dirty of a hit it really was... Kronner did put himself in a bad position, but McCloud should know better.

I do love how Ericsson gave McCloud a nice judo throw afterwards, though.

Just got back from Tampa. Not much hockey on TV down there. Didn't see the Denver game, but there seemed to be a lot of hubbub on twitter about the hit. Something about the Denver announcers saying "he deserved it". Yeeesh, I hope that was taken way out of context and they didn't really say that.

Lol Avs, how's that undefeated season going?

Class acts by Bolland and Kane giving their sticks to the ceremonial pick drop (cancer survivor kid). Following Toews example from last year.

Pretty good game between the Wings and Sharks last night. With a bunch of rookies on D, I didn't think the Wings would be able to hang, but they ended up shutting out the undefeated (in regulation) Sharks. Too bad Niemi came up with this phenomenal stop on Bert in the shootout.

That save was ridonkulous. My wife was yelling at the TV, "He got soooo lucky" I was like, nope, watch the replay, Niemi knew right where to put his leg.

3 years ago Howard would not have been able to hang with Niemi like that all the way to a shootout. But now he's getting very close.

The Avalanche/Pens game had some sick goaltending in it too.

Giggy stood on his head again and shutout Sid & Company.

He was down and out and threw up his leg in desperation. It's not like that was his plan all along. Lots of skill to know to give that a try, and lots of agility to be able to do that very quickly... But also lots of luck that the puck happened to hit his leg, which covered a relatively small portion of the open net.

The Avs are no joke. They are playing inspired hockey (especially the goaltenders) with Roy behind the bench.

I believe it was Tretiak who said "When you do your job right, the puck just hits you"

Good point... But I don't think he had "laying flat on your belly, right foot in the air" in mind.

Of course it wasn't his plan from the start, but once he was flat, and Bert was off the his right, best thing to do was to put his leg, riiiiiight there.

And at that angle (notice where Bert has to shoot from his left) he actually took a pretty good chunk of the net away.

On the replay you can see Niemi look right at him, then lift his leg.

You're actually going to make the argument that Shanahan agrees with you and that is a good thing? LOL. OK.

The man has made tons of ludicrous suspensions since assigned to his role.

Losing McLeod for five doesn't hurt the Avs one bit, doesn't mean anything really at all so I am completely indifferent to the whole thing
