ESPN Rules Analyst a former ref and ref supervisor says that there's nothing in the rule book that says that a defense needs to be given time to determine who's eligible after declaring who's ineligible.

It's pretty genius. Up til now, it's always sending out a lineman and declaring them eligible. Nobody thought about doing the opposite. Harbaugh could have easily called a TO and tell his guys to watch it but he didn't. He was outcoached

Also, Alabama used the exact same '4 lineman' trick play against LSU this year:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPJ4UqKslk8#t=9270

So for John Harbaugh to call the trick play 'deceptive' is fucking retarded, it's not even a new play (I'm guessing Belichick learned the play from his buddy Saban). Also, football is all about deception. I guess we should get rid of quarterback sneaks, play action, or that play where edelman threw a pass to amendola because we never expect wide receivers to throw passes. John Harbaugh needs to learn how to lose with grace.

There's a reason Buffalo wanted Rex, he's stifled Brady more than any other coach and he always got his guys to battle for him. Let's face it, Geno Smith will never be a QB that will win you a division nor was Mark Sanchez. At the end of the day I wound up liking Rex even though I'm a Pat's fan. Rex is not afraid to speak his mind and is 2000% more entertaining than the dour BB, I think he will do well in Buffalo.

A few more picked up flags that go Dallas' way and maybe they'll win the Super Bowl. At least I'm hoping so, any way they get there. That way the Cowboys can tie the Steelers record of 6 Super Bowl wins. Don't tell me, Anand forums are predominantly anti Dallas Cowboys and this post will get piled on.

I have money on the Cowboys, so hope they win today. Won't really be able to watch unfortunately.

Personally I think the karma bug bit Harbaugh when after the win against Pitt last week he declared Flacco "the best QB in football". Now don't get me wrong, I like Flacco and he has played very well in the post-season but the game-ending pick was a "WTF" moment, first he locked his eyes on his target right after the snap, (most experienced QB's "look off" the deep safety, Flacco didn't) so the NE safety had ample time to come over to help, then he threw the ball where only the NE defender could catch it. Then the receiver, (once he realizes he cannot come down with it) should make an attempt to knock it away from the NE player or try and dislodge it if it's caught, he did neither.

I have nothing against the Cowboys, the hate started years ago when the media coined them "America's team" after the 'boys won multiple SB's under JJ. I do feel that Detroit didn't get a fair chance in the game last week though, yea, some calls are going to go against you but for a Ref to pick up a PI flag when it was in fact PI makes me wonder if everything is on the up and up.

and they have the defensive players to play rex style of ball. They should have a top 5 defense next year just watch. Rex gets guys to play hard like butch said and has a way of scheming against Belicheckout like few can.

Offensively they have a lot of work and the Watkins trade is gonna hurt them this year. Their defensive line though can maul an Oline like few can. Their rotation is very good too.

I for one as a Pats fan am bummed to see him back in the AFC East (assuming he signs) I was hoping we were rid of him when the Jets were stupid enough to fire him. He's a damn good coach.

That said, as you indicated, the Bills have a lot of the same problems the Jets did a few years ago. They have fantastic defensive personnel, especially up front, but no good option at QB, and no first round pick this year.

Wasn't a few years, it was decades ago. They were coined that by the NFL in 1978, JJ didn't buy the team until 1989.

Rex does't know how to build a team. His successful seasons came on the coattails of the team he inherited from the previous regime, and simply went downhill from there. Unless the Bills FO prevents him from having ANY input on personnel decisions - which is a HORRIBLE idea for any team management perspective, Buffalo will go from upswing to crapper in no time at all.

Rex Ryan is a good defensive coordinator at best. He's a horrible head coach.

besides that field not looking good already, rodgers doesn't look good. even on the TD where he took a couple steps forward, he was ready to do anything but and there have been numerous occasions already where the pocket is on the verge of totally collapsing on him and he finally tosses the ball near someone or out of bounds. no desire from him to try and real movement so far.

My bad, I meant Jimmy Johnston who was the coach when they had some SB wins, IIRC it was the early '90's. Anyway the Cowboys defense is taking full advantage of Rodger's immobility, this should be another great game.

Jesus, Rodgers is about at 20% for mobility. We have no chance outside of Romo choking. It is an utter shame. That offense was a well-oiled machine all year and our star gets injured right before the playoffs start.

Worst of all, there are no teams left for me to cheer for. Baltimore was the only other one I liked and they lost. I despise all the remaining 3 teams left but especially the Patriots. I can't see any of them competing that well in the Super Bowl.

the way he was gimp hopping down the field on that final drive of the half, can't see him getting any better as the game goes on.

and the girls serious fuked themselves the way they called that timeout on the favorable spot.

I recorded the game and watched it after, so I was skipping around, but did the ref announce who was ineligible? If they just told the ref then snapped thats seems like a problem.

I think the rules committee should look at it in the off season. There should be some buffer between when the ref announces who is eligible and who is ineligible, just like the defense gets time to make a substitution when the offense does.

What?, yea, I was disappointed in our defense yesterday but one has to remember this is the playoff's and your playing against good, battle-tested teams. If you asked me if I thought the Ravens would be capable of going to Pitt. and blowing out the Steelers AND sacking Ben five times I would have thought your nuts but look what happened. Heck, even the lowly Panthers gave Seattle all they could handle for 3 quarters, in Seattle. Did anyone think the Denver was capable of playing that poorly in last years SB?, I didn't but it happened. Just remember this, Brady is a scrapper who has no quit in him, despite being slammed to the turf violently 9 times and despite ZERO run game he still managed to uncork a completely perfect, undefendable throw to LaFell to win the game.

you do a full speed block in the back after they blew the whistle, lucky it wasn't an ejection.

dear god, from almost a TD run to turning it over...comeon.

Agree, why RB's are not expecting an attempt to strip the ball as they go past the LOS is beyond me, that should be both hands on the ball until there are no defenders close by.
