Haters gonna hate. Hamilton's handled this kind of thing so well so many times. And SO many of the times he had issues it was poor strategy, pit errors, car failures etc. Everyone's so quick to say he's causing these problems for himself but it seems like 75% of the time or more it's other BS that prevents a win. And of course he's pissed off a lot of the time. Many years of his career have been lost to those types of errors. The best years of his career, the best chances and it must be entirely frustrating to have your whole career on the line for many of these idiotic blunders caused by someone else. Throughout his career he's been making some of the most daring and exciting overtakes in the sport and all the drivers recognize he's one of the best. Sometimes there will be contact when you're pushing so hard, and if your team mucks up a wheel change costing you a few positions and you need to aggressively pass back to recover your places, the risks go up again.

I think he's surprisingly calm considering what's on the line and his personality type. Everyone's quick to point the finger at him saying he's whining etc. but he's handling it all better than anyone I know would.

And the one time he genuinely messed up (quali in Silverstone last year) he got handed the victory later on. Life's not quite as tough for him, as he often makes it out to be.

Shows how good button is. Kept up with Hamilton and now he is keeping Alonso honest.

button is good, but here's a strange thing - the hype around him was always "smooth driving style", "easy on the tires" et cetera. yet when he and hamilton were teammates, he often thrashed the car and tires. some of his best drives were when he burnt thru tires even before hamilton.

regardless, he's still my favorite japanese-speaking triathlete.

for the hamilton apologists:

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2015/05/...io-call-which-cost-hamilton-victory-revealed/

he was initially told to stay out, then questioned the decision. the math error allowed hamilton to get what he wanted.

why the hell would anyone pit at that point???

Well, now we know why he didn't throw the team under the bus... but then again, hindsight is always 20/20 and I'm sure they'll work together to figure out how to avoid this type of miscue in the future.

"Are you sure it’s the best thing to stay out?"

Correct answer was "YES, LEWIS." ** We know what's best.

Error on both parts, I still blame the race team who has a billion pieces of data/screens telling them it's a mistake

this weekend is canada - always unpredictable, usually really good, sometimes bizarre.

another reason to love this race, qualifying is 1 pm eastern, race starts at 2 pm sunday.

I subbed Lotus back in for Sauber - the latter doesn't appear to have good mid-season performance this year.

Well, I had high hopes for Grosjean in this race, but running into Will Stevens (congratulations for your first appearance on team radio) isn't doing him much good.
Oh well, still better than Sauber, which is all that counts.

Generally a boring race though, nice seeing Vettel make the most of what's a very good Ferrari, and Williams being able to exploit a track that suits their car. Otherwise not very exciting, and I'm a bit mad that the Hulk got spun out by being crowded out by Vettel - more points my fantasy team lost today, that weren't quite necessary.

Disappointing that the Lewis-Nico fight never materialised, but after last year, the strategists were quite cautious, and it did look as though fuel was quite tight.

Yeah I think both Hamilton and Rosberg had used about 99.5 kg of fuel by the end of the race according to the BBC stats I saw.

Another Mercedes half a minute win over everybody.

Great drive by Vettel, though.

Alonso must be kicking himself for leaving Ferrari

Mclaren is so awful this year. They've slipped every year since 09. Guess they should've put more effort into f1 than road cars the past few years.

I really like the Canada course and there were some good fights in this race, despite it being another team Mercedes and everyone else show again.

Watched a bit of the start, then got distracted, but from what I head, Rosberg finally beat Hamilton on track - mostly through a decent launch of the line, but then managed the pressure well.

McLaren are just in a sad position...

What pressure? Hamilton never got close to him after that safety car.

Scary crash between Raikkonen and Alonso. Glad they're both okay.

I read where Hamilton is now blaming his loss on a faulty clutch. He's a great racer, but I lose respect for him when he can't accept that he was simply beat on equal terms on a particular day. Rosberg simply had a great race today, plain and simple.

Much as I like Kimi and enjoy his radio conversations I think today was the moment he lost his ride with Ferrari. And, with as many great young drivers out there I'd be surprised if he has a ride at all next year.

Nico and his setup was just better today and Lewis was not able to stay with him let alone beat him today.

Seb had a terrible pit stop that had him stopped for 13 seconds -- 10 seconds longer than normal, without that he'd have finished 3rd.

It appeared to me the the Merc based cars have a big advantage coming out of turns even if the peak power isn't as superior as it used to be. Seb could close on Masa but couldn't stay with him out of turns so he could not pass.

This was not the best track for passing...
