I said Brady played badly esp, in the first half. He played scared. But as I said the Pats play lost them that game and isn't that true (missed field goal)?
Anyhow, going to relax, maybe drink a little (though I'm supposed to have quit drinking in support of a friend who's in rehab) and watch the game. Enjoy the night.
yeah, they missed some easy plays and scores, and so did Denver. But the only reason those mistakes mattered for either team was both teams' D making it that way. NE has more experience this year with big leads, though.
I don't think Brady played that poorly--his number show it, but all of those numbers were created because he was shell-shocked.
Damn right he played scared. They got to Peyton too, of course. he just made less errors. I about shit my pants when Peyton actually took that hit. I'm so used to him hitting the ground in fetal, I can't remember the last time I saw him volunteer to absorb a hit.
In the end, NE still had a phenomenal chance to tie or win the game--TWICE--in the final 5 minutes. Denver stupidly "turned the ball over" with plenty of time by playing to defend, rather than to win (those stupid run calls on their final two possessions).
Opting not to kick that field goal....yeah, it was pretty dumb in retrospect, but only because it didn't work. NE has always had great success on those 1 yard first down conversions. Kicking the field goal still means they need to score again anyway (but they would still have a chance to tie it if they don't score...). I think Belichick made that right call there, because if you get that conversion and then your TD quickly with plenty of time, you're in a great position. Being back at 8 points down isn't the worst.
I bet you ask Belichick and Brady to make that call again at 4th and 1, he'd probably go for it every time.
