Looking at the Seattle-Carolina game last week, I would not have predicted this rout.

Seattle was pretty good and routed the Cards in week 17, and Palmer looked shaky last week. Even though I think Seattle was going to beat Carolina last week, theres no doubt Carolina is the best team in the league this year. I did expect a competitive game though, but Palmer is the weak link, whether its his play or his health.

they sure do....but you can't really pass rush Cam on every play.

and you can't do it that often, anyway, because he's bigger than you. He also fights back.

Cam is as big as an LB, but Denver has some real men at LB. Miller and Ware can get him, but not every play. It all is going to come down (again) to how well Manning plays. If Manning can outplay Cam, I give Denver a shot. Otherwise, it's over.

Ted Ginn's tackle of Patrick Peterson turned out to be an important play near end of first half. He came out of nowhere to stop Peterson, and then Palmer threw an INT on the next play. Big momentum swing.

Man... that was terrible. Palmer's picks are gonna grab the headlines but there wasn't one thing that we did even reasonably well today.

Hate for it to end like this.

Cam Newton looked bad against the Atlanta Falcons in their 2nd game. Atlanta took away his rushing lanes, bracketed coverage on Olsen, and the secondary won their one on one matchups. Cam couldn't run and had no one to throw to. Denver needs to do the same thing and they should be able to replicate it since they have better defensive players. I don't see how Peyton is going to score against Carolina though. Matt Ryan played one of his best games and Julio Jones killed Josh Norman but can the Broncos receivers do the same?

Dropmarius had 2 catches for 12 yards and for some F'ing reason they keep wanting to pass to him. Maybe it's cause they overpaid for him and want to force it to work, but the guy is a lemon.

He was good until he got paid, then he seemed to stop putting up the effort. He still has the potential to be good, I just don't understand why he's stopped giving a shit.

I told my wife last weekend that the winner of the cards/panthers game would be the SB winner. After that thumping last night she looked and said "yeah...Carolina is going to win. You were right".

That team is nasty. Denver pass rush was insane yesterday...but Brady is no Cam when it comes to scrambling or keeping defenses honest. That Carolina lb and secondary crew is wicked. Denver better get some guys healthy over the next two weeks. They are banged up.

While I love seeing PFM in the super bowl again he has no chance to win it. the panthers look unbeatable.

Yeah, if both teams play like they have all season, the Panthers should decimate the Broncos.

I really despise the Pats, but I would have loved to see the Panthers kick their ass in SB50!

actually, a lot of people gave Denver a good chance of winning, assuming they play their best game and do it smartly, because they've played poor games before. But Understanding that NE is beatable, even if they play well: Denver could play well enough to beat NE, but fewer people expected it.

Here, people think that Denver playing their best game and doing it smartly has no chance against Carolina.

That sucks. No one will expect Denver to win next week; but that's kinda what was going on when the playoffs started: either Arizona/Carolina/Seattle win vs...AFC.

But, this is more like Baltimore vs Denver in the divisional round the year prior to Denver losing in the SB: no one gave Baltimore a chance.

But you know, Denver can certainly win. Any team can win.

And I'm certainly pulling for the old man now. I'd be happy if Carolina wins, though.

This post. Lol.

If the Pats would have won, there is no way they would have gotten their asses kicked. The Pats don't lose many games by more than a touchdown.

That's kinda moot now, isn't it? The Pats can join the Steelers as "the team that would have lost by the least to the Panthers in SB50, had they made it".

Not moot, purely a stat thing. Check out the stats on the Pat's losses for yourself. I was blown away a couple years ago when I read that stat. It helped me evolve on how I viewed what Belichick and Brady have been doing.

We're here talking about this incredible Pats loss, ESPN had headlines that the Dynasty is over, like it was a one sided domination, when in fact they lost because a kicker missed an extra point. That makes it suck even more for us Pats fans. But, it was a 2 point loss, nonetheless. People should pump the brakes. It's actually incredible the parades people are throwing because of this loss.

Now the Panthers put a whooping on the Cards.

edit: The more I think about it the more I'm proud of what they did. They struggled though an injury ravished season with the distraction of the offseason (deflategate). And were close to making the SuperBowl.

Isn't that what everyone said about Peyton's favored Broncos vs Seattle and then the defense whooped Peyton? This could be the reverse of that, Carolina favored by 4~ already.

Wasn't able to watch the Cards-Panthers game. Our local sports talk radio host on Saturday was talking about the game and said he believes Palmer has some kind of mental block about playoff games and would bet the Panthers even if the spread was 20 points. He was sure Palmer would play terribly.

Is that how it went down?
