I'd like to see AZ win the Superbowl. Carolina is a young team and there will be more chances. New England has their rings. I'd like to see Fitzgerald and Palmer and Patrick Peterson get rings.

Sure I can agree with that, but IMHO the "two different teams" qualification is somewhat meaningless as it's more a factor of whether a player gets traded or decides to take a "hometown discount" to stay with one team than a superior level of talent. Now if you win a championship playing two different positions or two different sports that's another matter. And while PFM is a great player he's no Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders (who did play as a starter in both Super Bowl and World Series)

Usually when a Super Bowl winning QB is on a different team the consensus is he's done. It just reaffirms that the QB was pretty damn good and could still play. Its harder to do it on two different teams because you don't have continuity. Montana and Farve couldn't do it, though they were somewhat close with a >= 1 SB win and a conference championship game appearance. The common theme with trying to pull this off is the organization has to write them off so they can be on that second team. What sucks for Manning and Warner is that the second team Super Bowl also gave them losing records in Super Bowls. For Manning it would have been better if he didn't make it with Broncos, because it will be used against him in the best of all time debates. That sorta trumps the two different teams thing. With Warner it elevated him because he almost pulled it off. In fact, its probably what will get Warner in the HoF if he gets in.

Interesting thing about Deion Sanders is he is the only athlete to score a NFL touchdown and hit a MLB HR in the same week. I think it was a home run with the Braves early in the week, season ends so he joined the Falcons and returned a punt for a TD that Sunday.

Also, only person to win a World Series and a Super Bowl.

And even if someone can do that, I doubt they'll be able to win two Super Bowls with two different teams.

Deion also won SB with two teams. Charles Haley won 5 with 2 teams. Ted Hendricks won 4 with 3 teams. The only position that would be difficult, IMO, is starting QB. Manning and Montana are the closest I can think of.

Yeah I was referring to Deon. Two SB wins with two different teams and a WS appearance won't be matched anytime soon. Also, Farve was also one pick away from joining the two SB team club when he was with Minnesota. Speaking of Montana, he is also is in the exclusive club of QB starter on NCAA and NFL championship teams. Only him and Joe Namath did that one, and Stabler with a couple asteriks. Anyways, even when you include college, its still pretty damn hard for a QB to win two titles on two different teams.

Thought that Tom Brady WON NCAA championship while starting at Michigan?

I can get down with this. Palmer is one if my fav QB's. Never any drama, just goes out and plays. And as much as the Steelers fans like to cry about Bengals playing dirty this year, it was their dirty hit on Palmer that ruined the Bengals best chance until this year taking out Palmer's knee. Injuries have fucked his chances a few times.

i want Manning to win another ring and then retire.

however, i would think:
Patriots > Broncos
Panthers > Cardinals
and,
Patriots > Panthers

but will be rooting for manning and broncos.

Imagine how good the Panthers could be if Cam had better receivers than Ted Ginn to throw to. Wouldn't even need to be a superstar, just someone to complement Kelvin Benjamin who isn't yet a true WR1 but can be a poor mans' version if coupled with someone like impending FA Kamar Aiken who would relieve some double teaming pressure.

All I know is...Denver had better figure out that there is a middle of the field behind the defensive line that they have to defend. Brady and Edelman are going to have a hayday if they can't button that up. Pittsburgh burned them all day with those slant routes over the middle of the linebackers. That part of the field was completely uncovered. Up until the last couple minutes I thought the Denver defense was pretty awful. And that's against a team that was missing their 1st and 2nd string RB. One of the most electric receivers in the game, and a QB with a bum throwing arm.

I'm rooting for Fitz to finally get the ring Big Ben stole from him.

that would be great.

I see Carolina and Pats though, as well. I'd be pulling for either NFC team regardless, only because I'm assuming it will be Pats in the SB.

If Denver somehow makes it, I'd be happy to see PFM go out with a ring.

That being said, Denver could still win. Either Arizona or Carolina could win this week.

Looks like Harris is banged-up bad and if he isn't able to match up against Edelman, Edelman should have a field day.

If they continue to drop passes like that, I agree. But I haven't seen that many dropped balls from so many different players most of the year, so I'm hopeful that was a fluke that we managed to overcome. Denver's defense will keep it closer than most people here are thinking, and I also think people are undervaluing home field advantage. Both of these QBs like to communicate before the snap, which is very hard when an opposing crowd is screaming at you.

Their D is the key for sure. Between Denver and Carolina, there are no better pass-rushing squads in the league, imo. But Brady is like Jesus--as long as Amendola isn't butterfingers or if the LB/Safety fail to bottle Gronk, the pass rush won't amount to much.

But if they can get to Brady early and often, light him up a bit, NE doesn't have the run game (against Denver) to help get them back into passing schemes.

But they have to dominate at the line. Denver offense under Manning has been so inept, they will still need to score at least 15pts to beat a contained Patriots.

Now, if the Patriots were truly as "injured" as they were 3-5 weeks ago, then I think Denver wins this easily, but that doesn't appear to be the case after last weekend.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ossweiler coming in by the 2nd quarter if Peyton continues lobbing duck sauce.

The interception was bigger IMO. It was essentially a 10 point swing in one play and changed momentum. Instead of the Cards being up 14-10 at the half, they were down 17-7.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqnQwKAI4OE

Ben earned that drive at the end, but the interception at the half was bs! Every time I see Harrison I think "that mother f*cker!" lol

I don't think you can call a first-half play the key play of the game.

Way too much time left in the game (ask the Packers).

yeah, it was a huge play, but "momentum" (an unquantifiable and essentially "meaningless" metric, imo) is lost during halftime.

Yup, he was going for history. Peyton almost did it too. Especially impressive for Warner since everyone thought he was done when the Giants got rid of him and his hand issues.

to be fair, Peyton did not almost do it in SB 48.

In a way it was quantifiable: Score went from 10-7 to and expected 10-14, then ended up 17-7. Here is a graph:

This is momentum over time. A shows them driving down the field, B shows the start of the goal line play, C is the interception and each moment Harrison gets closer and closer to scoring a TD, and D is after he scores till the 4th quarter. You cannot deny math!

to be fair, Peyton did not almost do it in SB 48.

An optimist could say he was 3/4 of the way there. Went to SB, won SB, went to another SB with different team, then lost SB. 3/4 is almost.
