Need some sound advice on my NVDA stock:

Been holding since $19 and had a really awesome ROI. So good, that it's a noticeable size of my portfolio (a good 19%) so I'm wondering if it's time to take that return and plant some of it in a new area. What markets/companies are looking to have good growth potential over then next 3-5 years?

AMD is on my list, as I've been holding since ~$5 and also enjoying growth. The new CEO has really been doing a great job cleaning up the company and - as far as I can see - is making sound decisions.

I would rebalance that and lock in most of that profit. Sell down to either your original cost or 1.5X that if you still think there's much growth left.

Boooooooooooo... I thought the FOMC statement would be at 2:30pm. Anyway:

The Federal Open Market Committee raised its target range from 0.25 percent to 0.5 percent to a range of 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent. The overnight funds rate currently sits at 0.41 percent.

Think the article also says 3 increases next year -- but they said 4 this year and we got 1. Also, CNBC removed their comments. Who will tell me it's Obummer's fault now...

market reacting to Fed saying they are looking to raise rates 3 times in 2017

not expecting a repeat of what happened at the beginning of 2016, but if markets take a similar dump, then I've been waiting for better entry points

I wouldn't get too stuck on estimates on the economy months or years out. Things change. I also wouldn't get too stuck on calendar years. We've been told to expect two rate rises and we got two. They just happened to be 367 days apart and thus in different calendar years.

I thought they'd "surprise" with a bigger bump up or scare people with a quicker tightening schedule. Ya, 3 times. If it goes according to plan, we'll be at 1.50% by the end of next year. Given batshit crazy everyone's loaded up on "free" debt, this should be interesting.

But hey, if the market drops a few hundred points, Yellen will pull another 2016.

Edit: Go go Canada. Borrow more, please. It's all free money.

The widely-followed ratio of household debt to after-tax income rose to another record high of almost 167 percent.

Total consumer debt exceeded the size of Canada’s economy for a second straight quarter, accounting for 101.2 percent of gross domestic product in the July-to-September period.

It looks we are going to get a pull back in overheated energy stocks tomorrow.

Well, we got our pullback in my OAS oil stock, down 8% from $16.25 to $15.00 .... ouch!! Thankfully I had sold some calls and covered it today.

Now we can RALLY back up tomorrow!!

Sold off 60% of my holdings of NVDA. While it'd be fun to watch it hit $100/share, I want to lock in that amazing growth.

Well, if you have one of the highest debt-to-income ratios in the world and among the highest/bubby-est housing markets in the world, why not have the government offer "free" loans.

The B.C. Home Owner Mortgage and Equity Partnership program will provide a maximum of $37,500 — or up to 5 per cent of the purchase price — with a 25-year loan that is interest-free and payment-free for the first five years.

Gold / Silver has been getting smashed with the Fed announcement of more planned rate hikes (measly .25% but whatever):

Current spot - $1130 Gold / $16 Silver

If gold hits $999 or silver $12.5, I would buy some physical at that point.

ps. I sold my $1290 gold coin for $1200 right after Thanksgiving. I miss it a lot.

So, the Chinese CNY is now down to 2008 levels against the USD around 6.95 per USD. Needs quite a bit before it hits 2007 levels though.

Edit: Some story out of Australia. A couple -- appear to be Australians -- own 25 properties. Earlier in the year, there was a similar story except it was about how the couple lost it all when their mining town home prices crashed.

Yay for the first time some of the stocks I have are now in profit territory. One of them is at $100 if I was to cash now. I bought a few other penny stocks today too. I have $100/pay that goes into that stock account, I only spend money if it's in there so it's not like I'm putting my whole life savings on this, this is more "play money". Some people go to the casino, I just play with stocks and be all like:

I could very well get lucky and one of these stocks makes it big. Stuff like solar, graphene, lithium etc have the potential of exploding. With my broker I need to buy 100 at a time, so it's not really realistic to get into the big name ones that are like $10+. I do need to take some time to read up more on trading though. I should do that on my night shifts instead of watching people blowing stuff up on Youtube.

What does it mean when even a realtor organization, not a lone-wolf, says a housing correction is going to happen?

Vancouver’s long-awaited housing correction may be around the corner: prices are headed for a double-digit decline in 2017 as buyers drop out of the market, according to the head of Canada’s largest real estate services company.

Federal government has been saying it too. This is the latest from the country's central bank.

In a video posted Monday on YouTube... Bank of Canada senior policy adviser Joshua Slive sketches out how Canada’s dangerous brew of debt and inflated house prices could combine to devastate the economy.

what's the deal? The world ran out of 22 year-old Chinese billionaires? ...or did their "investment" debt finally catch up with them?

And fun in Europe. Something about Spain's banks getting fucked. Monte Dei Paschi in Italy may be getting bailed out very very soon by the guberment. But the EU doesn't allow that?

A €20bn (£17bn) rescue fund for Italy’s banking sector has been approved by the country’s parliament, heralding a bailout of the world’s oldest bank, Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS).

Everything is awesome indeed.
