Whatever causes the 20% sell off may take months or years to resolve.

But then who knows exactly what will happen, right? Just a correction or a true bear market based on a radical, new trade environment.

What do you think will happen to NUGT tomorrow? It was $12 on Thursday, $11 on Friday and hit $9.80 today. Would have been a nice short.

I have no idea really.. I still don't understand what today did. JNUG was up 6% then just dropped. I was busy and didn't pay much attention until it had dropped 10%, (was watching JDST) - around 16% I began to think something was happening, but I never did get in. Just watched the bloodbath. Would have been a great day to get into JDST.

I guess they did recover a bit AH, but I expect it will continue to drop until the speeches tomorrow then it will go sharply up or down depending on what gets said.

Heads up. Fidelity has announced a drop in commissions to $4.95 per trade. If you are with any other broker CALL THEM immediately about matching commissions. I already know some are offering a match for retention.

Schwab has just dropped theirs to match 4.95. They dropped them a week ago to 6.95. Dominoes are starting to fall.

TD Ameritrade dropping commissions to $6.95 standard starting March 6. Not surprising they aren't matching given how big a percentage of their revenues are driven by commission VS. Schwab/Fidelity.

Well no 1%+ plus drop from last nights speech.
Interest rate hike likely as well which is keeping the markets up.

Was looking for a bit of dip (was hoping -2%+) to get some cash back into the market and make my 2017 Roth contribution. Guess I need to be a bit more patient still.

Nothing Trump said was particularly thrilling to warrant such a jump, nor is a qtr point likely to be a big help to banks. I guess there was a lot of fear Trump would say something bad, so when he didn't, people were excited. Can't complain about breaking 21,000.

I do wish Europe would get its act together because the S&P indexes are killing my portfolio due to my diversification in foreign stocks.

I think I will pass.
Snapchat is reported to already have subscriber growth concerns. Of the limited growth they have, its with older Americans, which is long thought to mean the end of the growth story for a product. They have new competition out, a product that is pretty easy to copy, and their product is fun for about 3 minutes.

Obviously take this with a grain of salt. I read and thought the same things about Facebook and look where it is now. I do think Facebook is a little different in that they have a wider moat than snapchat does. Its harder to jump from FB to another product than from snap to another.

imo snap looks more like twitter... unique product but already saturated. and no direct path to more money. on the other hand, fb is the ultimate me-too, zuck adopts anything that's remotely profitable, and it actually works.

apparently the founders are looking to expand hardware operations... better glasses, drones. dog snouts and rabbit ears definitely won't cut it anymore

I left disappointed.

I would have been truly amazed of you'd managed to get any shares to short. On a 'hot' IPO like that you probably won't be able to until next week and the cost probably won't be worth it. Personally I'm waiting until late next week for options to open up and possibly buy some puts on it. Kind of depends on what it does the next few days. Regardless 30b valuation is ridiculous.
