I normally do not like referencing my home team in my football thread titles because I much more enjoy talking about other teams and watching other teams.

But as a native Detroiter, I am embarrassed, seriously, after that game. I am not upset, because I don't consider myself as a Lions fan per se. I just want my home team to win most of the time.

But I think the Whisenhunt comparisons are valid right now. He was the guy fans wanted to hire before Cald-trash, but Tennessee got him and he was a disaster, lasting only a year I recall. Before then, he was the OC of that Chargers offense -- THEE hot assistant.

Patricia, an unproven Belichick hot assistant, in the long list of failed ex-Patriot assistants, comes here and engineers the one of the worse Lions games I've been cursed to watch in the short 36 years of my life.

And then he has the guts to go on a cliché-a-thon after the game, talking about a "lack of execution". It was a terrible game plan that was terribly executed, so much so that the Jets audibly called out Stafford's checks.

Ridiculous. For the first time in a long time, I'm picking against them:

As a Lions fan myself (fellow detroiter), i can agree that what i saw last night was literally the worst game i think they've ever played. Just atrocious. Offense, defense, and coaching were just not there, it's like it was a pre-season game.

Buck Allen is like the guy you see picking up discarded aluminum cans from the side of the road and out of trash cans and you say "oh look at the homeless person" and then proceeds to get into their Mercedes with them. He's a top 20 RB on the season in fantasy football PPR scoring and it's all based on 1 yard dumpoff passes and similar trash production that results in game lines like this:

Week 1: Four carries for 17 yards, 5 receptions for 15 yards.
Week 2: Six carries for 8 yards and 1 TD, 5 receptions for 36 yards.

This is a big week for the Bears.

If they right the ship and put on a convincing performance in a win then I have no trouble pegging them as a dark horse playoff contender.

Yeah, I hope last week sparked enough of a drive in them to realize they have the capability of doing well, but they need to finish as hard as they started to do so.

This week Von Miller gets to practice for working in a junkyard after he retires from the NFL. He gets to try being a Carr crusher.

Torn. Hoping Stafford plays as crappy as he did Monday night, but I have him as my starter in fantasy. Maybe he'll have a good game and the 9ers will still come out on top...

Looks like the Steelers lost their towel, so now they're just terrible.

Its nice to see the refs decided they'd make sure Pittsburgh stayed in the game (the announcers act like they can't figure out why Ben has so much time to throw, they've been ignoring blatant holds by the Steelers all day).

WTF, they just let them get away with Ben throwing past the line of scrimmage. Wow. There's no fucking way they shouldn't have overturned that.

There was a blatant hold on Justin Houston on that play they ignored as well.

If I'm Reid, I'm calling the league office over that last TD by the Steelers during halftime and just going "What, the, fuck?"

Yea, that's on TV here and damm, the Eagles defense cannot cover and cannot tackle. Foles finally got them into FG range right before the half ended and it plunked off the upright, no good. Really hot in FL today, has been for the last 3-4 days, (Florence stole most of our moisture), it will be interesting to see how the Patriots fare up in Jax 2 hours from now.

Just saw the highlights and I thought he was over the line, I was wondering if my eyesight was off but apparently it looks like he indeed was over.

The announcers were going "remember its where the ball is not his legs" but even his fucking legs were over the line. And the hold was right by Ben as he was running by, in clear view of the camera and the refs and they don't call it. That whole play was bullshit. There was a play earlier where a Steeler's WR was holding (as in had the jersey while the DB was trying to get away) right in front of the refs and no call either. I'm not talking about the "they can call holding on every play" type of stuff, but blatant jersey grabbing while the defender is trying to get to the ball after beating their blocker type of holds.

Of course they weren't going to overturn that (and somehow didn't have a camera angle from right at the goal line - which I'm guessing they did and deliberately didn't show it because it would've forced them to overturn it). Not that it would've mattered as I'm sure the defense would've given it up eventually (probably after another 2 or 3 holding/DPI calls).

I'll have to watch it later on ESPN, just caught the play as the halftime highlights were rolling by and it looked like it was an illegal pass. Steeler's usually get most of the calls at home as do my team, (Pats). Just finished 1/2 the lawn, (trying to get it all done by the 4:30 Jags/Pats start). Was offered a chance to go to today's game, (about 90 miles from Daytona) but the heat is just F-ing brutal today, zero breeze, 96 degrees and only 60% humidity LOL..

WTF was that play call Reid? They should've had a screen pass ready for the aggressive Steelers D. Chiefs don't have a real power run game.

Well, hopefully Mahomes can overcome Reid seemingly trying to lose games with stupid playcalls and poor management.

Yeah it was blatantly illegal (even Fouts who often tries to go out of his way to not give the Chiefs too much credit was like "that was clearly over the line of scrimmage). I'm used to them not calling blatant holds on the Chiefs, but still kinda pisses me off when they're as ridiculously blatant as some of the ones today.

Seems like Reid must've called the league office because they've tightened up (and now they're calling the Steelers for defensive holds). Plus its hard to not call their defensive off sides. Did think they might dick them on that one TD pass (one ref called it a TD the other said incomplete, but they overturned it and ruled it a TD).

But this is why I already love Mahomes. It doesn't matter if the refs are calling against you, Mahomes will make them pay.

The defense is so bad though. I won't be surprised if they give up a 700 yard passing game this year. But again, Mahomes doesn't care, he's more than happy to play gunslinger. Anything your QB can do, Mahomes can do better. He's gonna be a bad, bad man in this league.

Mahones threw for 6 td's and was 20-25 , i wish my team's coach would call such a horrible game
