As someone that used to play and love Blizzard games, I can only imagine that things start to go downhill (not the stock price)
Blizzard was a company that prided itself on making quality, original, and amazing games.
Activision is a company that prides itself on profits and pumping out tons of shit games and hoping people gobble it up. They are much more likely to embrace the whole loot box and micro transaction stuff.
I guess what I'm saying is - you will never see a new World of Warcraft after Activision took over - it's just too much work for them, they would rather make a shit sequel and have loot boxes instead. Which maybe I'm just living in denial - I don't want to believe that is the future for desktop gaming, but perhaps it is. I would have thought more along the lines of WoW with monthly fees of $10+ would make more from a consistent revenue perspective, but I guess loot boxes cost nothing to make and maintain unlike an actual game.
I mean coming from a player, it works, as long as it is just cosmetic items vs. the whole fiasco with EA and their pay to win with StarWars Battlefront. I felt like the whole seasonal skins that started with Overwatch was genius. I found myself playing more than ever during those events just to earn those stupid skins that meant nothing.
