I wonder what kind of stunt Musk will pull next. Musk is a drama addict. He wants to be able to say and do anything (like Trump) and suffer no consequences. The difference is Trump has been doing this at least since the 1970s. He was at war with the city of New York, local politicians and the media all at the same time day in and out for YEARS. Thats forty years of experience.

Musk is an amateur by comparison. Maybe by 2030 or 2040 he will get the hang of it.

I am no fan of Jeff Bozos and do not do business with Amazon (havent since 2011), however he at least knows how to keep his mouth shut and just run a company well.

Maybe Musk can follow his example.

well, the difference is that Musk has ideas, and is actually brilliant, and Trump is a clown and a con...well, "artist" is a bit generous, really.

Musk is, similarly, quite the clown and certainly has an over-inflated view of himself (though, I would say deserved when compared to Trump, who hasn't really succeeded in a single personal venture)

I'll never understand how stepping down from board of directors and paying $40m ($20m from Elon, $20m from Tesla) is good news... but god damn somehow they made that out to be good news.

I was seriously contemplating buying more stock of TSLA on Friday - but I simply didn't have the funds readily available in my brokerage and it was mid-transfer. Bleh, oh well. Can't dwelll on it.

I completely agree - but all of those ideas and such don't translate to the role of CEO IMO. He would be better served on the sideline instead of trying to manage everything.

Musk was looking at being banned from being a director in any public company. The original deal with the SEC was for two years, probably would have been more than that had it gone to trial. When you have a company stock where a large part of the value is due to the Cult of Elon, it's easy to see why Musk not taking a two year break is good news for the stock, at least temporarily.

Intel reported that 10nm is "Still on schedule for 2019 with planned allotment" which is still, IIRC, significantly reduced from their roadmap only a year ago. But this seems to have gotten people excited.

Regardless, AMD was floating at a historical high, essentially based on expectations for next year. No way that could have lasted. Earnings are in ~22 days or so, and the forecast for Q4 and maybe 2019 projections? will be thoroughly scrutinized.

There HAD to be some profit taking on AMD. People have been holding that stock since it was $10.

Another string of blunders for me.

Sold the NVAX WAY too soon.

Should have bought BILI outright.

Eh, or $4. ...or $3 or $2. It really wasn't all that long ago. It hit $10 within a week or so after it hit $5, and pretty much stayed around that price.

Market falling out of bed.

I love the twists the market makes as it has no idea where to go or why it wants to go there. Good jobs numbers means higher inflation which means higher earnings and more spending, which is good for equities. BUY! But higher inflation means higher interest rates which is bad for equities and companies with debt. SELL! Higher interest rates are good for banks and are a sign of a growing economy, whiich is good for equities. BUY! But higher interest rates make bonds and savings look more attractive. SELL! and repeat...

And this is why Index funds are killing off investment related jobs.

A lot of the selling was computer generated. Robotic algorithms get triggered to sell over an advancing 10 year bond. Expect more selling.

I told you Elon was going to screw things up again. Hey Musk - you are not Trump!

Keep your trap shut!

I'm honestly getting used to it at this point. Smoke weed on Joe Rogan? Stock falls.

I just use it as buying opportunities. Next time it reaches substantial level again I'll likely sell. Long term I just don't see it going much higher than 350 max.

I made a nice chunk of money shorting TSLA in my stock game, though. Keep opening that big mouth of yours, Elon

I just looked at my portfolio, and I'm confused. Bond yields rise because not enough people are holding bonds, because they sold bonds, right? So bond prices fall. So this also makes people sell stock and stock prices fall? Where's the money going?

There are a staggering amount of people in the world making over seven figures on market movement alone. I would estimate hundreds of thousands. And they're getting more and more sophisticated by the day at extracting value from every aspect of it.

I wish I could...just 5 figures would make me happy. I have been sideways for 2 years...it's pathetic.

From what I heard besides computer generated selling based on the 10 year bond price passing key levels the theory is people are sitting on big profits they want to protect. So better to book profits now and collect rate yield on money market or other short term instruments.

You also have the classical effect of higher rates - higher borrowing costs for businesses and consumers which naturally cools the economy through a reduction in:

1) home buying
2) car buying
3) big ticket items

...which leads to lower profits for companies....which leads to market declines.
