You are not part of the problem. If you buy low, then you help to minimize lows. If you sell high, then you help to minimize highs. You are part of the mechanism that prevents most of the wild stock market swings and helps bring a bit of sanity to the market. You play a vital role in the stock market stability.Look at a guy like me. I don't add value. I don't invest in companies because I believe in them in the long term. I circle like a vulture, extracting value from the market wherever I can, and I rarely lose money.
I'm part of the problem.
That said, if you happen to benefit on taxes (long term capital gains for example), I see no reason that you should get lower tax brackets as you have no net benefit to companies or towards helping the economy.
