this the same guy that shorted Herbalife for $Billions$?
That's BIll Ackman. Herbalife humbled him a bit. Ackman made comeback by buying big chunk of Chipotle.

To be honest how Tesla magically switched from losses to making a profit seamingly overnight without a major event as to why that occurred.... It honestly raises an eye-brow from me too.

I'm not someone to say he is cooking the books though - just saying that it is part of what keeps me away from TSLA stock at this point.
You had your chance with TSLA. You never believed Tesla story. But that's ok. Lot of people are going to look back and ask how they missed the next Apple and Amazon when it was staring at them straight in the face.

Nah - Again man, I'm not bashing them. I actually already made a side chunk of change when negative press got them down to $175/share.

I'm just honestly asking since last I recall any major news out of them it was not having great output results, etc... Maybe that's changed and I just haven't heard about it.

I'm no Anti-Tesla, I hope the best for them.

Tesla hasn't been sitting still. Their work speed and innovation are crazy fast compared to the competition. You just don't hear about the good news from the press because the media has agenda against Tesla. Tesla doesn't advertise so media gets no ad money from Tesla while they get billions from companies and people that want to stop Tesla. There are lot of big money like oil, auto, hedge funds, and other industries that want to see Tesla fail or at least slow them down.

I posted this in Tesla Model 3 thread in the Garage forum in July 31. Tesla 2nd quarter wasn't bad if you looked beyond the negative media headline.

read this on a financial website:
If you are in the 10-12% TAX BRACKET you pay zero percent tax on long term capital gains and qualified dividends up to $77K.

How can you be in the 12% tax bracket (max income of $9700) if you sell enough long term stocks to have $77k in profit?!
does that mean the stock sale doesn't count towards your income?

What do you mean by "max income of $9700""?

The tax bracket for 12% for Married Filing Jointly is $78k. That is what they are referring to. For 2018 it matches your amount of $77k (so your article is likely a year old).

Basically let's say your married household income for the year was $60k via W2 standard wages from work. You have the difference ($77k - $60k) of $17k that you can potentially have capital gains (from your sold stocks for the year) taxed at 0%. At least that is my understanding of it.

While it's pretty rare or unlikely for someone to be in the 12% bracket with capital gains - it is certainly possible... But this moreso would apply better for situations like in retirement where people are living off of investments instead of wages and their expenses such as a home payment are likely paid off.

EDIT: I think I understand - Are you confusing the max income of the 10% bracket with the 12% max income?

Honestly though - would it surprise anyone to see AMD at $50? Despite that I think its overvalued, the market buys growth and upward momentum in a bull market is sometimes self sustaining despite valuation. Im not saying $50 will happen this year or next, but its not impossible either.

I bought a few shares of ANAB the other day under $10.80. It is a troubled biotech, but biotech seems to be coming back into favor and this is one trading for less than cash on hand - $15 per share. But it does have lots of issues, so buyer beware.

Oh look, what a surprise - Phase I Trade Talks not scheduled until next year.

Not a surprise. What is a surprise is how well the markets are taking the news.
With the 10 year T-bill at 1.76% even the S&P yield looks good.

Nancy Pelosi - USMCA probably wont be passed this year.....

Senate passes with veto proof majority Hong Kong bill in support of democracy movement....Trump said will sign (doesnt have a choice). China denounces American meddling in Hong Kong unrest, vows retaliation.

Tesla announced the truck... and boy is it strange. Stock currently down 3% premarket.
Any stock price weakness is major gift and should be bought. I’m buying more stock and calls. Cybertruck price and specs are insane. Tesla just told the world future cost of batteries in 2-3 years. And if you’re the competition, you have to be shitting in the pants at the Tesla specs and battery prices. It’s almost game over for the competition.

That thing is ugly. What happened to the Tesla flair? Falcon doors are awesome, trucks that look like they are from a bad 80s sci-fi movie are not. I think he had a 6 year old design it.

Edit: Reading more about it, I am impressed by the fact that it is "consisting of a stainless steel alloy body that is dent-resistant, scratch-resistant, and sledgehammer proof, " and it may get 250 - 500 miles with that heavy steal body. Perhaps with CyberPunk coming out it will be a hit, but truck owners got upset when Ford made it an aluminum body. This may be just too different.

Yeah I think the truck is epicly stupid.

The current market that buys trucks (F-150, Tundra, Sivlerado, etc...) aren't going to find that appealing... So what are you after? Random people that don't currently use trucks but just want an electric one? I think thats a recipe for disaster....

But hey - maybe I'm wrong.

Here is Teslas next "innovative" look.....the 1970 Lancia Stratos. I used to like this car back in the early 1980s...

Not bad for a 50 year old design.

Agreed, its like they didn't even get the memo.

And to think, I bought a new car this year. The first new car in years.

It was not an SUV or pickup, therefore it was fully loaded and cheap by comparison.

Stock market continues to rally. Many stocks reaching all time highs or retaking 52 week highs.

Its a feeding frenzy with no signs of abating. People are buying stocks with abandon and buying momentum.

Example....Tradedesk (TTD). When earnings were reported the stock had fallen to $198 two weeks ago. It fell from an all time high of $289 in the time leading up to the report. However, it has since rallied strongly and continues to gain momentum on the sale of TD Ameritrade to Schwab. Current price is $265.

the US econ is being propped up by National Debt. (Thx Trump.)
it's a house of cards.
you know what Warren Buffet says when people are greedy... SELL!!!

Hmm, checking the Fed rate odds there's a very small percent for an actual hike. It's only 4% though. The trend through the election is still flat to maybe another cut but it's worth watching to see if there is any momentum.
