How would a pullback affect REITs?

REITS are stocks and will pullback in sympathy with the market. Also, any time you have big rate changes either up or down, it effects REITS on leverage and eats into profits or contributes to profits.

SHORT TERM : Higher Rates = Higher borrowing costs, lower profit. Existing investments pay less and cost to borrow increases. In extreme cases, too wide a spread will cause margin calls and forced security selling at a loss, but that is very rare.

LONGER TERM : Once rates plateau and begin to go back down or even stabilize then the opposite is true since newer securities will yield more and short term borrowing costs will be less.

The EV correction is already going on. Has been for at least the last few weeks. Everything is getting slaughtered.

My NIO puts went from 50 to 45 to 40 to 30.
XPEV? 45 to 40 to 30 to 22.5. All in a relatively short time frame.

I've pointed that out many times in this thread. EV stocks, Bitcoin miners and holders and other highly speculative plays that have done well are all way off the highs, some 25-65%. I got rid of SINO at a big loss.

And now that I think the market as a whole may see a 10-20% pullback based on higher interest rates, the stimulus hurdle not supporting the markets (sell the news) and questions about how hot the economy will get, I think Im either going to consider writing call spreads on the QQQ's (short call options) or simply buying puts outright.

For now, Im in cash doing nothing. Volatility has not been kind.

My 401k has been in 90 day Treasuries since last year and so far it was the right call.

I BTFD last week, and kept buying. It hurt initially to keep seeing red, but I like to buy low... RKT my #1 winner today

I'm out of RKT. I don't care how good their earnings were or how much their short interest is. Over 100% gains in 24 hours on no new news is dangerous.

I'll wait for the FOMO momo to crater before getting back in.

It finally broke meme resistance at WSB

I sold my remaining shares as well. I've sold RKT on spikes and bought back in 4 times now, I have to update my spreadsheet but since IPO, I'm up something absurd like 1 million percent annualized. Will buy back in if it goes under $25 in the future.

My guess is it will return to $22 once WSB loses interest. Before the March 9th dividend date would be perfect.

I bought $RKT before earnings report and had a goal of 20% gains. I hit my goal so I sold... next time I'll have to hold a tiny bit!

I started buying some NMZ last year to get a start on some tax free-ish cash flow. It's my first time getting into a fund that is federally exempt and partially state exempt. I'm using FreeTaxUSA since it has usually fit my needs. It seems a bit cryptic now on the 1099-DIV form though.

Specifically, the first question:
Is this a mutual fund that has U.S. Government interest income? - I've said Yes due to NMZ since I now have amounts in box 11.

Here is where I'm not positive I've answered the items correctly:
Ameritrade gave me a statement that has a 1.13% for my state so I entered that amount in the area" Enter the amount of your $$$$ of tax-exempt dividends that was from bonds issued by your state (or a municipality in your state):

I'm assuming I'd enter the same amount for the following question too:
Some mutual funds may have a portion of their dividends that are related to state-exempt U.S. Treasury Obligations that are tax-exempt for state income.
Enter any U.S. Government income exempt from state tax shown in your TD AMERITRADE dividend income

Thanks for any assistance!

I regret selling Boeing yesterday now that it has climbed yet again today. Now I might have to wait to see if it dials back a bit but if not, I'm going back in even at a loss...

Go back a page and see why I think we are in the midst of a larger correction based on higher rates.

You will soon get your cheap BA shares.

Fear of higher rates is overblown.

I'm BTFD.

I'm BTFD.

People always say that, but the algorithms run the market and they make the decisions.

If you look at the 1YR chart of the 10YR bond yield, we are only halfway where we were before Covid took hold (1.5% vs 3.0%).

Picked up some SLGG (Super League Gaming, Inc.). Supposedly another short squeeze Reddit attempt. I don't know anything about the company and I refuse to do any form of research.

Covered QQQ shorts, sold long puts, flipped NNDM. Helped recover some losses. All cash for now.

Out of curiosity I did net searches to see if Reddit retail trading is thinking about trying to accelerate the current U.S. treasury bond sell off which is causing bond rates to rise. And no Reddit isn't doing that and probably can't in the near future because /wsb and the I think the rest of Reddit traders generally don't own bonds. So wonder if Reddit traders will buy the bonds to try to drive down bond interest rates if they wanted to just to say they could do it. Probably a dumb notion to ponder and ain't gonna happen either.

Anyway I'm back in cash now, so it's half cash and half mutual funds and a few single stocks. I even moved out of brokered money market accounts and into bank CDs. Holding off buying single stocks until I can figure out the lows and highs better. Not sure if I'll ever invest big again in the ev company SOLO. And it's fallen down almost to $5 including after hours today.

And it's tempting to buy a ton of SOLO shares at that low price. But then if covid prevents their suppliers from making enough parts, and other problems prevent them from the manufacturing start of the ev cars then it could fall back to the $2 or $3 it was months ago. They've only put out some prototype ev cars.

I've lost a bunch the past few weeks....like $14k I'm just going to keep buying and holding and wait. I keep telling myself that despite my stocks tumbling, my core assets are my cars and houses and mutual fund accounts....which are only growing. I want to be "risky" with the stonks.... that's the point. This calendar year is when my finances officially shift....maybe 6 more paychecks until I'm debt free. 😎

If I need to go conservative, then I'm all in on Costco, Zebra, and Boeing.

Also, now that ponyo went to the sea to hibernate, I can say FUCK TESLA AND ELON.

I'm selling tomorrow if it doesn't go back up past 650.
