Marin Software. SAAS advertising and Instacart ads .. not sure what the hype is but the market has really embraced it.

Up hundreds of percent in 5 days. Got in late on this one 3.5k @ $7.

$75M market cap, paltry 11M shares outstanding.

Made a large bundle on ALF and MRIN. I'm still holding some of both and the weak hands are taking the stocks down pretty big.

Dang it. I read about DingDong last night and considered getting up today to buy some for a day trade. But I was too lazy.

I did find something decent though. CERE fell today so I explored the far out puts. The Feb 17.5 puts lined up for about $3000 (10 contracts) so I was like what the hell. They sold for almost $4500.

Just like the good old days. Cha Ching.

They were interviewing a market maker on CNBC and it made my blood boil. He said that when someone buys shares in a company they have to short the stock in order to do what they do - make a market in stock.

It sounds reasonable but ....

I give you Marin and ALFI. On those two I made a lot it was incredible. Thankfully I took a lot of money off, but did buy dips. Buying dips is always risky so I dont do it often. Because of the enormous declines today, I was stopped out of both stocks with losses. The MMs just kept knocking out bids and lowering the ask to foment even more selling. Thats is negative momentum and the only people with the power to do it is MMs.

Market Makers have the ability to create 'phantom shares' in order to value a company at what they feel is level they can support a stock.

So if retail investors value Marin at $125M and the market makers think it only is worth $60M they are going to start cramming the stock back down by offering shares for sale (short) at lower and lower prices. They can create unlimited shares short and do it legally to make a market.

And that is exactly what that @#$@ moron on CNBC said today, "we have to short shares you buy so we can make a market because we are the buyers of last resort" when everybody wants to sell.

Well DUH! If you are creating a panic by knocking down a stock 40% in one day, what exactly do you expect you moron? Selling! And lots of it!

I'm not sure what DingDong is other than an American confection, but DIDi is doing okay today.

Crap. I thought I missed the bus yesterday so I didn't pounce.

Careful, this one swings up and down violently. Wait for dip in momentum. I bought back in yesterday at $16.38, didnt sell when it hit $18 and rode it back down to the close of $15 and held overnight - thankfully.

Take small bites since you dont know when the music ends. It minimizes gains, but also minimizes losses.

Its usually best to buy a headline. No headlines this morning, just panicky shorts and FOMO.

edit: Ive bought and sold ... pretty crazy stock.

2nd edit: Holding 2k@22. They may have long term potential, but some have pointed out they may need to raise cash.

Every gut feeling I have tells me its time to take money off of the table. It's been too easy for too long.

I'm looking to pull a sizable amount back over the next 2-3 months. Any put I can buy back at a reasonable pice I'll jump at. I'll probably let the SAVA and FUBO stuff ride.

I strongly suggest looking at your portfolio to assess risk/reward in the case of a major crash.

Same here. Sold all premarket today. Fingers crossed for a pullback.

If not, we just have to be nimble and not get get burned by the Candle Stick chart pattern.

Looks like DIDI is turning out to be a DoDo.

The Communists appear to increasingly dissatisfied with capitalists in China and are finding reasons to crack down on everything that provides wealth and freedom to its people.

You cant have too many too many freedom loving people running around. The Chinese are extreme control freaks.

This has been a great year so far. Just have to trade less and wait for the real home runs, which is far easier said than done. Lately Ive been focused on market cap vs future revs. It has served me well, but there is sometimes bad data and anomalies you have to watch out for.

I had like $2000 worth of room on one of my accounts so I sold 1 Dec $15 MRIN put on the pullback for around $700.

What do you think, Felix? Am I going to lose on that one? I don't know anything about MRIN.

I have a soft spot for that stock so my viewpoint will be biased in favor. I held shares overnight and dumped them premarket near $22. It's now hit a low of $17 and change in sympathy with the big correction in similar small ad cos like BLIN, both off 30% right now.

Its likely they will issue shares so watch out. But I do think $15 sounds fair, but honestly the market needs to find a fair value near term so even $12 is not out of the question. Will keep it on my radar.

It's not a huge risk. I mean, it would have to drop to $8 a share for me to actually lose money and even then it would only be $800 at risk.

Looks like Newegg is the next Gamestop. Flipped some shares for some quick $.

100% is short? Haven't we learned our lesson yet? Derp!

Anyway the stock already has $20B market cap, so I wonder how much juice is in the tank...so I sold quickly...maybe too quick.

I've been nervously following the market since around 6 am and things weren't looking so hot. So I got ready to do another expensive buyback spree before things could get worse.

But I held off, and now just a half hour later a lot of my stuff is in such better shape. I was down like $12000 at open and now its like $3000. Some of my junk even turned green after being down big.

Sometimes the best move is no move at all
