Looks to me like 98.9% of the people are in the stands. Got some better proof? In fact, your photo simply looks like the people and civilians on the sidelines just moved to around the team. I don't see any empty seats in the stands.

Mill, seriously, give it up. We've all seen it happen dozens of times, even with big name schools. It doesn't always happen... obviously if the team that wins is away it doesn't happen or if one team wins in a blowout it doesn't happen, but when a team beats a top 5 time on a last minute FG... yeah, it happens even at the big name schools.

It was 20 minutes after the game. I've already read the blog it was posted on. Like 25 students tried to rush the field, and then stopped. 20 minutes later half of the student section went on the field. That's why the rest of the stadium is empty as well because the game was way over by then.

Again, teams that have been there before don't rush the field. This isn't basketball. This is big time football. I don't have a problem with it in Basketball. But in football? Good teams just don't do it.

Which proves my point about a Big East team being allowed to play in the BCS title game. This is their FIRST victory over a ranked team in almost 20 years. This is the only ranked team they've beaten this year. Their fans rushed the field. Clearly not a team or conference that deserves a shot at the title. Not in a million years.

They still got WVU...on the road.

No it doesn't. I watch and record 15+ football games every Saturday with ESPN Gameplan. Something I've been doing for 4 years now. I was raised watching football. I've missed listening to or watching one Auburn game since I was 8 years old, and that's when I was in Europe. I couldn't get the audio to work, so I sat in my hotel room and refreshed Yahoo Sports while I listened to music.

Big Name teams with solid programs don't rush the field. Sorry.

Mill, nobody has said Rutgers is going to go to the national championship game. Please shut up about it. Nobody thinks Rutgers is anything close to OSU or Michigan or USC.

I don't think we mean to take anything away from Rutgers winning this game. I have 2 things to thank Rutgers for: 1) College football and 2) Knocking the Big East from NCG talk this year.

To be honest, I never considered rushing the field when I was a student at Auburn. After a big win, my first thought was to head to Toomer's Corner.

Oh please.... stfu

They just beat the #3 team in the country. EVERY FvCKING SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY RUSHES THE FILED WHEN YOU BEAT A #3 RANKED UNDEFEATED TEAMS.

No they don't. Did OSU rush the field vs. Texas? Did Auburn rush the field against Florida?

That game was at Texas.

ESPN has been pushing it all week. People in this thread have said the Big East winner deserves it.

Buddy I watch plenty of games too, over 100 college games a year and 50+ pro games... In fact I can watch up to 4 games at once when they broadcast that many....

Every "big name" team has to make a name for themselves at some point, right? I don't understand why you judge the stature of a team based on the ability (or non-ability) of the student body and fan base to rush the field after a tight and very, very important game. So Rutgers fans should have just pumped their fist, and got in line to walk out of the stadium?

Don't be ridiculous Mill, you're getting all pissy over absolutely nothing.

QFT. None of the major sports outlets, even local ones like WFAN gave Rutgers any chance

One, yes I do. Two, the article does nothing for your position. This was not a rivarly game. This was not an out of control fanbase (read the other thread on OSU). This was a team that never wins, and I was saying that reaction proves they aren't ready for the championship game.

Are you saying they are ready? That they should play? I think not.

Luck has a lot to do with some games. Lucky that kid jumped offsides.
Not necessarily--the PK hooked it away from the offsides player. He probably hurried a little and instinctively aimed it in the other direction.

Rutgers has had plenty of time to become a big name program...they started the whole thing.

I was a student at Arkansas when we rushed the field after beating a #4 (IIRC) ranked Tennessee team back in the 90's. The students tore down the goals posts and carried one of them about half a mile down to a the local brew pub and propped them up in the street.

Rutgers recruiting should be a lot better now. So many good players come from this area.
