I have to defend McCain here. His reaction was the same as mine. For Obama to say that there have not been prosecutions for the deaths of Union leaders in Colombia is a flat-out lie. In fact, what Colombia has done with paramilitaries (the guys who take out the Union leaders) was only possible because of US Aid under Plan Colombia. Obama showed an astounding amount of ignorance on that issue.

Do we care about Colombia (except about their coffee)?

If you care about supporting a major US ally instead of giving them the cold shoulder. It is especially appalling since Canada has already reached an agreement with Canada. The FTA with Colombia has far reaching implications because it shows that we will have free trade with China and other nations but ignore a major ally.

It is important to me and it shows a lack of understanding and judgment on Obama's behalf.
