Ok you sold me I am going to order one this week.

NFS4 says "I'm running two sticks of HyperX 433 with no problems in my IC7"
NFS4 is this 2x256 or 2x512 sticks.

I start to order some at googlegear, What they don't carry the IC7 ok Newegg.
Then a friend goes watch the Kingston there are 3 classes of HyperX ?????????????

Little help is there more than one HyperX cas speed being sold? I didn't see it on newegg or
googlegear.

order the board and memory now and then the processor next week or wait till next week to get
it all?
2.4 is $240...official release is $178.
I have seen 2 2.4's do over 3 G at default is this pretty much the norm?

thanks big time I don't want to end up with a mess like I did when I purchased an asus
p4b266-c last year..what a piece of junk

**************
could a mod kill the empty messages please.... I tried to log in on reply and it kept kicking me back to login...don't know why it made a message.
**************
again thanks for any help

How many ide hard drives can be connected in this motherboard?
Can the SATA channels be used at the same time with the regular IDE channels? Thank you.

Judgementday,
Right now I have 1 SATA drive and it looks like it could handle one more in the 1.1 bios and one 133 ATA drive and it looks like it could handle another in the 1.1 bios and a CDRW and DVD drive on the third PATA. The 1.1 bios is capable of showing 6 ide devices with the onchip SATA.. the SI SATA menu comes up after the bios screen. You must update to the 1.1 bios to get the IDE channels to play nice with each other.

Etrin,
I believe that Newegg has the Kingston HyperX 2700,3000, 3200 and the 3500 in their list of inventory.
I am currently running4 512 HyperX 3200 at 2-5-2-2 at 260 FSB with a 5:4 ratio with no problems other than my typing.

Randy:

I have 1 IDE HD and ZIP on IDE 1 and 2 CD-roms on IDE 2.
Have downloaded the latest bios-11 and would like to connect 2 Raptors.
Which SATA connectors should I use? What Bios changes if any need to be made.
In Bios can I then choose if I boot from Raptor or IDE HD?
Thanks for help and any pointers!

mnahmia,

you have to go into integrated peripherals, onchip ide device... there, at the bottom, you will find something like "on chip sata", that will need to be enabled, and you will also need to select "raid function" to enabled if you want to run them in a raid array... the 1.1 bios should do everything else for you... (like select the channels for the drives if you use raid)

if you are running a raid array, you will need to hit ctrl + i after the initial bios screen to get into the raid bios... set up your array how you please... PS, I like my 16k stripe size... 128 was sluggish... but 64k might be a good choice too.

You will also have to select your boot priority from the advanced bios features. "boot from onboard device" or something like that should be enabled so that you can use your raid array... hit enter on the boot priority option and it will show you a list of all your hd's... just use the + and - keys to select the boot order.

I would suggest downloading the newest iaa from abit immediately...

I'm thinking that more voltage would get me where I want... EVERYTHING undervolts on this board...

Randy.

Thanks for the response.I connected one of the Raptors to SATA 1 and kept a boot drive on IDE1.
In bios the Raptor appears but not in Windows. In reality I am trying to build a Raid 1 array with both Raptors.
I am trying to boot from the Raptor ,format it and install my OS.Do I need to remove my IDE drive to do this or can I have my OS on both drives? Please bear with some of these newbie questions

well... i have this board now, and i must admit that i have developped a serious problem. sometimes when I change settings in the bios, the boards acts totally dead when I try to repower it. Upon the first reboot, it will simply lock up prior to post with all fans and indicator lights on. When I cut the power, it refuses to come back on. The red light does not come back on and the system is totally dead. Ive had the cmos flashed with the battery out and both power lines unpluged and I still have not had any success... i believe the bios to be v10 and all of the components are known good. this board has had many successful boots prior to this in the 24 hours ive had it in, but this is the second difficult boot and the first that i have been unable to recover from. any ideas?

the limo will be here to take my date and I to prom in about an hour... so i'd really apprecate any emergency suggestions or this will be itching at me all night>

Could this be an issue with using the older bios and/or the startup delay 'built' into the i875P?

you're going to need to take out the ide drive or disable boot from other devices....

I would disconnect the ide ribbon from the mobo... set all boots to cd-rom... and go from there...

but you are going to want to set all your raid info before installing windows I think... so hit ctrl + i before windows boots at the raid bios screen... set up raid 1... keep your floppy handy and hit f6 when windows tries to install (install 3rd party drivers etc.)... should be good to go...

as soon as you boot, go to abit and d/l the newest IAA...

Hey Guys

Had this mobo for a couple oif weeks, pretty happy with it with one GLARING exception. I experience WinXPO blue screen of death whenever trying to use nero or accessing cd recorder/reader functions (like KProbe for testing C1/C2 CDR quality). Sometimes, machine crashes when I run Nero Info Tool (Which queries the drives).

I think htere is a problem in the bios or in the chipset with the PATA channels (to which my CD drives are connected to)

PLEASE HELP!!!!

when i went to go pick up my date, i decided to leave the all of the power connectors to the board disconnected and the battery out. the 30 minute flash as opposed to the 30 second flash apparantly made a difference. i still have no idea why the board seized up like that. no traditional methods of cmos flashing were working back there at all.

i'm off to look into updating this bios before i start working on my term paper due tuesday which i havent started lol... no sleep for me. last night (senior prom) was awesome- but its good to be back

Known issue with the Intel App Accelerator Raid edition (go to www.intel.com for confirmation). Also will get hard reboot if trying to access Ghost 2003 from within Windows XP. I've set up my two Raptors in raid 0 on the Silicon Image controller until Intel fixes the problem.

BTW, this is on the IC7-G even though my sig shows AX4C-Max.

Could someone explain what IRQ's are used in the AGP/PCI slots?

AGP is shared with PCI slot 1

is that it?

THanks Wizard

I got my raptors on the Intel RAID 0 , does not give anyproblems. But the issue is definitely with the storage driver. THis makes me feel at least ok with it, given that its a software issue and all; hopefully new IAA drivrs will come around to fix this AND to increase performance.

Rival -

The three main recommendations I have seen around the various forums have been for the Kingston HyperX, for Mushkin Black, and for Corsair. Almost all the recommendations are for using 433 (3500) isntead of the 400/3200 that the board is rated for, since it seems to take the 3500 just fine. Corsair recommends using the XMS 3500C2 instead of the 3200LL because of bios issues. Some people here have recommended Geil memory as well, but that seems to be based more on price.

On this forum, people tend to reccomend the Kingston or, to a lesser extent, Mushkin. At asusboards.com, the Corsair is more frequently recommended. I went with the Corsair becuse of recommendations of friends. My board is still on back order wwith ajump so I haven't tried it yet to be sure. I'll be sure to post my experiences once I have the board and a Pentium 4c.

So, will Ghost 2003 work via the floppy disk, and is there anything else that will not work?

I'm getting Geil Ultra Platinum 3500. 2 sticks of 256 cost $112 total, $5 shipping on each, $122 at Newegg.com. I'm getting the 2.4C on tuesday, I'll report on the overclocking of the Geil 3500 ASAP. I went with it because of price, and the 875p apparently is very tolerate of tight memory, so I was looking for a memory that went up in mhz in Cas 2, for low price
