Sorry, Rival. No idea. Have you also posted at abit's forums? have you checked all power connections to the board? Personally, I'd RMA the board if i didn't find a solution. Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Mine came right up.

Sorry for not picking this up earlier

I think you have a dud videocard. The fact there is no different error code when removing the card indicates that to me. Try another videocard if you have one, but otherwise it sounds like RMA time.

Sorry to post this in the wrong thread, but it's kind of related. I just got my IS7-G system put together today and I am unable to install Windows. I have 2 Raptors connected to the Intel SATA controller and 1 Seagate SATA 120GB connected to the Silicon Image. I enabled the RAID option for the Intel (onchip) device, and created a RAID 0 array. When I go to install Windows, I install the driver and it sees a ~65GB unpartitioned space. I can partition it, but when it tries to format it goes very quickly and then tells me that Windows cannot be installed on that drive because it is damaged or not configured properly. I repeated this many times with the same result. I tried installing to a single Raptor on this controller, and while it will format it blue screens as soon as it starts copying files. The same thing happens with the Seagate. If I try to use the Silicon Image controller, the drive size is not reported correctly (it reads something like 41000000000MB). I spent over 4 hours on this this afternoon and am still left with a non-functioning system. Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I asume the IS7 manual is as vague as the IC7 manual. Is the bios seeing all the drives (3) as well as the CDROMs on bootup? In On chip serial ATA what mode do you have it set to? (Mode 1-8) It may just be a matter of finding the right mode and selecting Onchip SATA so the bios and Windows agree on which one is the boot hard drive.

Newegg has one of the better reseller ratiings out there. I actually liked their shipping. I got my rushed item just fine, and everything was packed well every time. Their RMA is supposed to be quite good.

Snidy - I'd update to 13 BIOS. It seemed to help me.

HEY HEY!! Finally got all my stuff together:

IC7-G Flashed to 13
P4C 2.8GHz RTL with TT Spark 7 HSF
2x51s PC3500C2PT
WD1800JB With an Antec HD cooling kit (still trying to figure out how to partition the darn thing. Everything just shows 137GB)
GF3 Ti500 (Gona replace soon.)

So far......all my bios settings are done. Set the mem to 2-3-3-6 at 2.6v (for now, might push to 2-2-2-6). HD is on the serillel2. Right now I am trying to figure out how to partition my HD. I want it to be 20, 40, 40, 40, 40 (don't ask why, that is how I like it).

I have a big question though. I am pretty sure I installed the HSF correctly with my Artic Silver. The idle temp in the bios shows ~53C. My LCD temp read out shows ~42C. I know there is a temp "thing" with the Abit mobos, but is 42C high for an idle (this is my first Intel system)??

Haha, I won!

Please let us know how 2-2-2-6 goes. I haven't wanted to mess with success.

I have a temp probe taped to the top of the CPU cooler heatsink on the plastic moutning bracket, with the probe suspended right above the HS fins. It's showing 105F (~40C) at idle. I haven't done any intensive gaming yet on the rig. I haven't even bothered too look via the BIOS.

Edit1:
XP Pro is done installing!! ALREADY!!! Installing SP1 now so I can see my entire 180GB HD. CPU is for some reason down to 37C. HD is up to 36C.

Edit 2:
DOH!!! Accidently formated NTFS. Formatting now.............DING!!! Reinstalling now........:frown:

QUESTION: Does dual channel operation need to be enabled in the bios or with a jumper???

Accidentally formatted NTFS? NTFS > FAT32.

As for dual channel, you just need RAM in 1+3 or 2+4. On POST you'll get a "Dual channel mode" message.

Just Got my IC7-G from NewEgg last night. It had rubber bands around the ram clips and all seemed well. I did note 2 things that made me a little curious. The Box was not sealed in plastic and the plastic around the Board was not sealed. I also noted the wire leads for the chip set cooler was wrapped around the cooler before it went to the connector, not free like I have seen in some of the photos. I could not find any marks on the board where it had been mounted. Anyway how did other get their boards, perhaps I am just a little concerned here.

Thanks

Moss- No plastic around box, static bag wasn't sealed, wire wraapped around cooler--mine came the same way. I think you're fine.

Mine was the same too. The bags of accessories were still sealed though, but the box was not sealed, and neither was the static bag.
