There was a new official bios for the IS7 at abit-usa.com but it seems to be gone.

Has anybody found an installation guide for the IS7, as in which order you load cards software etc...?

There are too many PAT / GAT rumors floating around. Someone set me straight on these points. Here are a list of things I've heard:

1. The Memory : CPU ration *must* be 1:1 (although the GAT options are still there regardless, which is confusing)

2. PAT / GAT doesn't work with a FSB of 200 (I don't believe this and think it's a mistake)

3. PAT / GAT doesn't work unless you set the N/B strap to something other than 800 (again, only saw one person mention this, and I doubt the validity)

4. PAT / GAT will not work with FSB speeds above 200

The only one of these that sounds right to me is number 1. Agree? Disagree?

From my experience in trying to get this thing working at optimal performace

1... Yes, however the FSB must not be stressing the memory
2.. Not true
3 Have not been able to confirm this since I can not boot with the FSB667 option.
4... Not true

Hi All,
Have a question on the Abit IS7 MB.
Am I correct to asume that the SATA1 and SATA2 can be used without RAID? I just want to use one as an extra drive for my video editing.
TIA

I had the same issue with an unknown device in the device manager, I solved it via installing SP4 for win2k. I have heard a service pack helps for winXP as well. Just remove unknown device and refresh hardware. I hope this helps.

btw official pages recommend this procedure - see http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/driver/model/is7.php

btw2 new BIOS 14 is available should someone be interested - see http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/is7.htm

Anyone having problems with USB 2.0 working correctly?
I honestly only have 1 USB 2.0 device, a 6in1 Flash Reader ... works BEFORE SP1a and comes up as Unknown Device IN the USB section
If I disable USB 2.0(in the bios), the reader works again ...

Anyone have any ideas, I've been racking my brain here...

Sadly, I've done that, as it states in my message, and I'm running Bios14 too.

It works until SP1 when the USB 2.0 drivers are installed, then it stops working. I have to disable USB 2.0 in the bios for it to work again, but I'd rather it work in USB 2.0 mode ... I don't understand why it's not working... all my USB 1.1 devices work with USB 2.0 enabled and/or disabled.... odd

Hi,

I'm doing video editing with IS7-E. When I insert the Editing card, my PC skip the BIOS setup part(check PC spes in DOS mode when boot up) and only appear when windows showing "Win2k is starting up(with blue background). It means I can't go into BIOS setup page. When I remove the Editing card, it boot up properly...(I can go into BIOS setup page by hitting "Del"). What's going on...???????

I want to show my PC specs like other frens here, how can i do that?

thanks

Hi,

I'm using RT100 with new released Xtreme driver, installed to PCI slot 1, Power Supply- iCute 420W. With my previous Motherboard(Gigabyte 845PE), I have no problem.

Hmmmm..... could it be BIOS...?

Thanks

Nucleas, when you turn your system on start hitting ESC.

My bet is that you're using a video card that brings up some kind of "introduction screen" which covers up the screen where you hit DEL to get into the BIOS. I've seen this before in other systems, anyhow.

Also try moving the editing card to slot 2. I use the DV500 DVD and it does not like slot one in any motherboard I have tried.
Hope that helps

Well, this has been an adventure.

I've got a P4 2.4C, and Abit IS7 (BIOS 14), and two sticks of Corsair TWINX 3200C2 (512MB each). The machine will post fine at all stock settings. The SPD is reading the ram at 2,3,3,7 ... the RAM is rated at 2,3,3,6 according to the Corsair website. I can switch to manual and run those settings fine.

However, if I try to overclock at all, I get the dreaded "long beep". If I try to use any of the GAT settings, long beep. In fact, I can't seem to push this combination of hardware at all. Looking through this thread and other sites, it looks like running Corsair RAM in a Springdale/Canterwood board is the kiss of death.

Is this something that can be fixed with a BIOS update, or should I just bite the bullet and RMA either the RAM or board?

Here are my temps for the heck of it:

2.4c running at 2.4 GHz with stock HS / fan, arctic silver, case is open, ambient room temp of around 72 F

CPU temps
idle: 41-43 C
under load (prime 95): 55-56 C

SYS temps
idle: 27 C
under load: 30 C

My friend is getting 32 C idle on his 2.4c processor with his ASUS board and 40-42 under full load with the stock intel fan & pad and the system closed :\ No idea how he's getting this.

The Abit IS7 reads temps on the high side and the Asus boards read them on the low side. It's that simple. Both you and your friend are really at about 48-50C. ( +6/8C Asus)( -6/8C Abit)

Hi,

Last nite i update BIOS. Setting is default. PC health:

CPU warn 85C
SYS temp 37C
CPU temp 48/49C
Pwr temp 43C
CPU fan 2410 rpm
NB fan 5625/6026 rpm
CPU core 1.45\1.47V
DDR 2.6V
AGP 1.55V

How to increase performance with my spec with little tuning, not OC to the limit. I need stability for video editing. how to enable PAT? I hope little tune up would give more performance. Teach me, teach me!!!!!

BTW, anybody can solve my starting up problem(BIOS setup part is not visible when starting up). I really need to overcome this.

Thanks
