Hold down the insert key when booting. This will go to "safe settings". 9 times out of 10, the issue you describe is caused by too aggressive memory settings. So go to the mem settings and manually set them to slower settings for testing. I.e. 3-8-3-3 and then back down til you get the long beep (memory problems). Also turn off the GAT settings as well.Especially turn of the command per clock setting o disabled under GAT.

Good luck.

my ocz 3700 and is7 dont like each other
i have a is7 and some ocz 3700 gold dual channel kit

i can get 246 fsb 1:1 but any thing about 250 fsb dont work and the 5:4 divider dont work at all

i was wondering if any one else had this problem or if other board have this problem if not im going to go with a anther board

i read up in the abit forums and it seem a common problem so
any ch5 chips or ocz3700 chips have no 5:4 divider or will go any more than 260 fsb

asus seem like the way to go as long as they dont have the problem

or epox for that matter

so does any one have any suggestions on this matter?

also i would like to know if the soltek board is any good or if it has this problem?

My OCZ Gold works with the 5:4 divider but I run it at 250 1:1 @ 2.8 volts. Are you sure you have disabled the last two GAT settings? Also your DDR voltage should be at 2.8
so does any one have any suggestions on this matter?

I have just installed a IS7-G. Is the latest BIOS version the best? Is it any better than what I have here? Also, what tool do I use the flash the BIOS of the IS7? I'm sorry for asking these kind of questions, but I'm brand new to ABIT stuff, I was an ASUS guy...

And, what is the best place to find info about this?

HELP!! ok I give up. After 20 hours of effort trying to make SATA work, the motherboard didn't detect the HD. I am using the Highpoint RocketHead 100 converter with a Barracuda ATA IV 80GB HD. I've tried all possible bios versions (13b, 13, 14, 15), and also tried to have only 1 HD in SATA 1 (or 2), and have 1 HD in IDE1 and 1 HD in SATA 1 (or 2). For the onboard SATA controller, I have tried the enhanced mode, SATA only mode, auto, combined mode (yeah, just about everything). But when it POST, it doesn't detect the HD that's connected to the converter. Any ideas??

Which pwr adaptor are you using? I had to use the 4 pin Molex (not sure if the Barracuda has one). It seems the SATA pwr adaptor is pretty weak and does break. There is a realy good step by step here even though it is for the IC7-g it should work for you as it did for me.

I received my IS7-E, P4 2.4C, and two 512MB sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200 last night and put the system together. Have been having lots of memory headaches since... constant reboots and instability. I have determined that one module is at fault because it can't even pass memtest when it's the only one installed and is running as 2.7V and loose timings, BUT NewEgg has offered to let me RMA both sticks w/out restocking fee and get Kingston HyperX instead. Even though the other Corsair stick is stable at and even over 200FSB in single-channel (as the only stick installed) I'm figuring from all the horror stories of combining Corsair with these boards it may be wise to just go for the HyperX. Has anyone here had success with running either XMS PC3200 (non-LL) or HyperX PC3200 at over 200FSB in dual-channel? What should I do, try to RMA the bad stick of Corsair and see if the replacement gets things working right (meaning that there's a good chance that if the Corsair sticks are not "defective" they will be perfectly compatible with the IS7), or just send both back and get HyperX?

Last week my Gigabyte 8IEXP died so i decided to replace it with a IS7E. I tested all my components in another system to make sure they all worked and they did so then I installed the new board. When I power it on, my fans begin to spin, the red and green light on the board go on and thats it. I don't get any beeps, my hard drives don't do anything, my monitor doesn't respond, and my hard drive and power led stay lit. I cleared the CMOS, took out the battery and put it back in, reseated everything including the video card multiple times and took out everything except the cpu, 1 stick of ram and the video card and still got the same thing, also tried 4 different sticks of ram. was grounded whole time i was working on it. tested cpu in another machine before install and it worked fine. This board is now exhibiting the signs of my last board except the last one beeped.

Anyone know what my problem is?

Maybe pwr supply issue.

Does the CPU still work? If not you need a new pwr supply before you blow everything else up. Trust me I have done it before. 2 CPU's and 3 MB's before I figured it out.

A new bios is out, version 15. I just upgrade mine and the PC didn't boot after upgrade. Clear Cmos and unplug power cable, PC boot up again.

To make this board run in dual channel with a P4B chip the RAM will have to be at PC2700 speeds rights?
And do I just make sure the chips are in DIMM 1 + DIMM 3? Is that how you enable dual channel on this board?

Your ram will run in dual channel when placed in DIMM 1/3 or 2/4 or 1/2/3/4 regardless of what processor you a using. It just has to be two modules or four modules in those slots. You would need to set the boot strap to auto or 533.

Want is the best memory type for the IS7 and IC7. I heard that the Corsair Low Latency type still have problems with the 865 and 875 chipsets. Is the Kingston HyperX the best??? What kind (PC3000, PC3200, PC3500, etc)????

THanks

IS7/IC7 users are having troubles with all sorts of memory, but I can tell you firsthand to avoid Corsair XMS non-LL PC3200. I don't think people are having much luck with any model of Corsair, really. I'd say Mushkin should be your first choice, followed by Kingston HyperX. PC3500/3700 would probably be your best bet in either case.
