The only diference I can think of ATM is that the "S" has SoundStorm and SATA (not sure but don't think the NF7 has SATA). Otherwise they are the same AFAIK.

Hello everybody.

I have an Abit NF7-S v2.0 and a Barton 2500+ (locked multiplier, unfortunately ). I would like to ask you some questions, if you would be so kind to answer to me:

1) First of all, I have an D26 Black Mantaray BIOS on it.... but it will not go more than 191 FSB and this with an higly voltage of no less than 1.8... the same CPU went 205 FSB on an Epox 8RDA3I... is it the BIOS ?

2) What BIOS would you recommend ? What is the best one @ the moment ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've been using my Nf7 v2 mobo for quite some time now very happily until recently I've run into some problems with it.

I have a 3000+ unlocked chip and until now I've been running it at 200*11~ 2.2ghz with no probs at all. 2 weeks ago, when I booted my pc up, it was only running at 200*5 ~1ghz and wouldnt allow me to change the multiplier!! So at the mo im stuck at 5x multipler which has seriously slowed my pc down! I can change the FSB however.

I have reset the bios and updated it to the lastest one above mentioned, with still no resolve. I'm at a loss as to what to try next, I was hoping that I wouldnt have to change mobos as it would be real pain at the mo.

I'd be grateful if you could help me sort my problem out,
Cheers
Push

My System
3000+
nf7 v2
Radeon 9800 Pro
1 gb pc 3200 ram
80gb and 160gb western digital hdd
Audigy 2
thts bout it.

I'm setting up my my new system (updating from a k6 system finally) and have a question: What do I set the FSB and multipler to for basic setting (non-overclocked, for now)? The specs on newegg say it's FSB is 266MHz, so do I set it at that with a multipler of 6.5? or do I have things wrong? Thanks!

System specs:
Abit NF7-S v2.0
AMD XP-Mobile 2400+
ThermalRight SI-97 heatsink
Panaflo 92mm L1B
ArticSilver5
Kingston 512MB PC3200 ram x2
GF3 Ti200 card (too be replaced soon)
Aopen DVD-ROM
NEC 3500A DVD writer
generic FDD
WD HDD
Antek SLK3200 BQE case

PS I'm thinking of getting an ATI X800XL card, would that be over kill?

Hey, guys, old thread, but maybe someone can help me out. I have an NF7 version 2.0. I use a Gravis Gamepad Pro gameport and so have to use an external card. I use a SBLive or SB128. It's very strange, but neither will allow the gamepad to work. I tried setting different IRQs in the BIOS. The card gets detected fine and the gameport joystick is all installed fine with no conflicts. The gamepad shows up in the controllers section and even says it's connected, but if you click properties, it says it isn't. I use Windows 98SE. I have the exact same setup with a K7S5A motherboard and it works ok (I mean literally the exact hard drive, Windows installation, video card, and sound card). I do see people saying they have had issues with a gameport working on the NF7, but I just fail to believe it literally doesn't work when everything installs fine. I may try another sound card, but this is very strange.
