It's a relatively safe procedure. But if your system is doing well there really is no need to upgrade the BIOS.
My board came with BIOS 16, I upgraded to BIOS 18 and then later to BIOS 21. I used Abit FlashMenu each time to do the update and I had no problems. Then again, I also got no performance increases either. The only reason I flashed to BIOS 21 was to be able to play with the NVidia System Utility.

So how did you fix your problem? Was it conflicting driver/app versions?

I would suggest making a new thread just for your problem.
That way this thread doesnt get hijacked.

Just recommended this board to one of my dads friends.... problem is he has a question that I cant find the answer to.
Is there any way to physically distinguish a 2.0 from a 1.1/1.2? I doubt there are any old revision boards left but its always possible and I dont want my dads friend having problems because a vendor sold him a previous revision.
My pc is now neatly tucked away and it would take too long to move it... etc.. so I need your help (again)

yes, there should be a sticker on the motherboard that tells you if its a v2.0 or 1.1. But if you don't want to open up your case you can just dl the program aida as many have said before. Then click on "motherboard" and the "motherboard" again. It should tell you info about your motherboard such as revison.

To confirm if ver. 2 ur gonna have to open the box (cuz it aint on the o/s) look for the sticker indicating which version next to the PCI slots.
