FYI, the new Audio and Mixer drivers are great.

Post 700.

I havent noticed any changes in my Network or IDE performance but I rarely use the network for pushing files about the place. Indeed... once I tweaked a few programs and options, the new Audio and Mixer drivers proved to be an improvement.

Does the SPDIF on/off switch work now ...?
(Do you use the optical out?)

If I could find an optical cable that isnt 6ft and costs the earth... Id try it for you.

As it stands, im not paying £18 for a 6 foot optical cable when i need a 2 foot one at longest. Just going to have to search a bit more.

It still dosent work.
But, if you dont select 5.1 digital ,,, SPDIF is off.

So, if you use 5.1 Digital its always on.

Just downloaded all nvidia drivers, utilities, etc. Have NF7-S v2.0 board. Is there a "right" order to install these? I was also planning on installing BIOS 23 first.

Here's a new good-all-around site for the NF7 series. There's aguide for installing the chipset drivers etc. Perhaps it will be helpful.

LVCoyote's NF7 Site

After noticing this on the install, I went to the manufacturer?s website and it states the same thing. Anyone want to but a spanking new SLK-947U heatsink? Anyone have any suggestions to an alternative that will fit? Thanks.

They have an update on the thermalright website that says if you use an added part, it will fit. Alternatively, you could just pop out your dremel tool and shave off the little 1mm nub that is touching the capacitors (which is what I did). All is well now

Just plugged in my Optical Cable into my NF7-S SPDIF port and popped it into the Digital Port of my Stereo. However, my PC isnt playing sound through there and uses the Analogue outputs.

Do I need to do anything special to change from analogue settings to digital or whatnot? Im kinda lost here.

Yes but if I disable analogue, I get no sound output.

I'm at work right now, but when I get home I'll check through my system's BIOS and the NV control panel and see if there is a setting you may have missed that you need to enable/disable.

Cheers. Cant find anything wrong with it.... I can see the light working in both sockets and the light shines perfectly from either side through the cable. Im just confused about it.

One of the first things I did.... I get the noise through Analogue but nothing through Digital.

Just checked.... using latest Audio Drivers from Nvidia.

hello everyone. I have a weird problem since I installed Windows xp on my brand new raptor

If I use 200 mhz fsb sound is choppy (no crackling or popping.. never had that problem) when I type on the keyboard!!.. the ONLY way to get aroudn this seems to be using 166 mhz fsb or less. I don't know why this is. I happily used this system at 220 mhz fsb @ 2-2-2-11 timings without a problem with win2k.

It's a t-bred 1700+ on an Nf7-s 2.0 with the latest bios 2.3, latest chipset drivers (also tried realtek's audio drivers).

Anyone got any clues please let me know.

ps I do have heatsinks on both north and southbridge and a VERY well ventilated case.

Does sound very strange indeed. Have you installed the required software? tried both SATA channels? are you using the onboard Soundstorm? To me, it sounds like the sound doesnt like the high fsb... which wouldnt feel right with the PCI/AGP lock. NForcersHQ.com and ABITs official boards might be able to shine some light on the situation.

Hey Elcs.. I've installed all the needed software of all available version and I tried both sata channels. I also tried posting at nforcers forums but I didn't get any assistance there. I emailed ABit.. maybe they'll answer.. it is really weird though because it did work just fine in win2k.

Are you using the separate sound drivers or the ones in the UDP? Id recommend using the ones in the UDP even though i havent heard of any problems.

Allo again ELcs. I have tried the latest UDP's and realtek's separate driver with the exact same results.
I am not sure this is driver related though and I am not sure the apu is to blame here either. But that's just a feeling I have.

Has anyone been able to use the nVidia System Utility to tweak their CPU voltage?

The NF7-S is one of only 5 compatible boards that runs the utility. However, apparently they haven't worked out the controls for the voltage or fans yet.

Any suggestions on a utility program that can tweak the voltage levels.

BDSM, I use an NF7-S R2 under WinXP with very few audio problems. The few I do have are with certain games and poor EAX support. I use the 4.31 audio drivers and 4.08 audio utilities.

Audio Driver Version 4.31
Audio Utility Version 4.08
Ethernet Version 3.13
GART Version 3.77
IDE Version 4.12 (I am using the SW-IDE drivers)
Memory Controller Version 3.38
SMBus Version 4.04
Installer Version 4.31

That's my personal remix there. I have excellent luck with those.

Man, this should be an easy question. But I have searched for an hour an could find the answer.

Can I adjust the cpu fan speed on the NF7-S? I have a Volcano 7+ but no speed switch. Plugged in to the motherboard it is running full speed (5800 rpm) and sounds like a hair dryer. No good in my Antec Sonata case.
