I'll be trying this later after dinner.
I specified that in my post. I don't want anyone flashing their BIOS with a noncompatible version either.Originally posted by: Noid

Remember that those are for version 2.0 motherboards.
(dissapointed no one is modding BIOS for us 1.x owners)

Another new modded BIOS for the R2 boards from Merlin.
Look Here.
I loaded D26_ver.2.0.03_Seed_Fire_0.2_15.09.04 and with all identical settings my system performs better this BIOS. I need to Prime for a while though to make sure everything is kosher.

This is Merlin's latest modded BIOS, codename TaiPan .1. I just installed it, the memory scores I've received so far exceed those received with tictac D26 Manta Ray XT installed. My 3DMark2001 SE score went up by almost 200 points, pushing me up to 18,908.
Here are the release notes:
- Indifikation Mobeil AMD Athlon XP-M
- Romsip Bios Tables Cpu Interface 133 & 166 & 200 MHz (Romsip Modded by -=Merlin=-)
- TaiPan 0.1 (Optimised 200FSB Register)
- L12 mod built-in
- Bpl 3.02 Cpc On
- ABIT Configuration DEFAULT
You can find talk about the BIOS HERE.

Hi,
I've had this motherboard for about a year and a half now. I'm wondering what my upgrade options are at this point. This is my current setup:
Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0
AMD XP 2500 (333 FSB)
TwinX Mattched Pair 256(512Total) 333MHz Low Latency
1 512 MB Corsair Low latency memory
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
No overclocking at all
I know I can upgrade the Video card - I'd like to get a 6800 GT or something in that generation, but want the prices to drop. Is there middleground between that and the 9600 Pro where I would see a nice performance boost?
Will upgrading the processor really make a big difference? I vaguely remember reading a review when the XP 3000 or something like that came out, that criticisez AMD, becauase there was very little increase in performance - that it was more likley AMD wanting to market something that could compete with Intel new 3.0 GH processors. A year or so later though, maybe there is a different perspecitve now.
Thanks for any advice.
Shaggy
