No its a polaris thread.
That's where the 33 FPS came from...
Oh, wait, you were trying to be funny.

He actually made a very good joke. It's a bit sad you can't enjoy it, but that's how humor works: not everybody gets it.Oh, wait, you were trying to be funny.

I'm not trolling, I really believe it was a simple joke. I actually cheered for it because it's miles better than the constant clashes, bickering and FUD people tend to throw around at both chips, depending on favorite brand.Wow, are you guys trolling or is it something... else?
Showing 1080p numbers would make the gains less important as the base numbers would already be past 60 FPS. When base numbers are in the 30-40FPS territory, any 10-20% increase is needed. Buy now!

Here, read the slide. Read it carefully, you have to want to understand!
I'm glad you finally understand, took a bit but I knew you'd get there!
Do you think 20% will be average improvements across the board?
Its a mindgame
AMD launch reference 480 with boostclock @ 1266mhz (even throttle down sometimes)
Nvidia adjust their own performance for the 1060 to be a tiny bit above the 480
Nvidia launch reference + AIB 1060 which is ~ +5% faster in dx11, and -5% slower in dx12. (maximum overclock is ~ +10%)
AMD launch AIB 480 with boostclock all the way upto 1450mhz. (unknown how much overclock is possible)
End result: 480 AIB beat 1060 AIB/reference in pure performance, even in dx 11.
1450/1266= ~14.5%

Link to these 1450MHz RX 480s?
The more leaks of AIB I see the more I think we will be waiting until August. If they were going to release anything soon why wouldn't there be at least a date.

THE NEW DEVIL IS COMING TO GET YOU ON
JULY 21th
I signed up for that contest too. Either they need to correct that typo or Mike Tyson developed their coming soon page.http://www.powercolor.com/event/A_New_Devil_is_Born/index.htm
(And yes, as of now, its on the 21th.)
If those are average frame rates, are the minimums unplayable?
And why Win7?
Yes, they were comparing it @ 4k in opengl and showing that its now 18% faster than reference. Moving on to Vulkan and you can easily hit 40+ fps @ 4k and the 1060 is still @ low 30s.
Its ok though we won't judge you for missing the joke
How do you know that they have run the test using the API of the OpenGL and not the vulkans API instead?"
And if OpenGL API was used instead of a Vulkan one, how does it affect the differences we see between RX480 Refrence and RX480 Strix?
It seems like the RX480 has been limited by it's reference cooler, hence we have not yet been exposed to it's full performance.

They don't even need the 1450Mhz.. because most reference rx480s are power throttled. They all on average run under 1200Mhz out of the box (unless undervolted) in most every game.
1350Mhz clock with no power throttling and similar memory clock bump will make the card on par with the 1060.
And that's highly achievable.. my rx480 with a custom cooler hits 1380Mhz on stock voltages, stable.
cheers!Thank you for that post. I keep wanting to pull the trigger on a used 290x/390x, but then I see posts like yours that help me wait for the AIB 480s.
At least wait until tomorrow or the 22nd.. maybe next week. If we don't see the nitro or powercolor out by then I'm going to end up buying a new monitor and probably a 1070/fury/980ti whichever I can find.Thank you for that post.
