That person would be blacklisted if they revealed too much early, which is why such agreements (legally binding technicalities aside) are effective. Losing access to pre-release review samples and/or free hardware kind of kills your credibility for future releases... and it wouldn't be just that one manufacturer's hardware either - all of them would likely terminate relationships.

Yup, exactly. When it's your livelihood, it's no joke.

Apparently all Ryzen's scores in workloads like GB3(!), Cinebench R11.5/R15 and Passmark .

I checked the scores for 1800X and they match the official presentation with almost zero deviation:
R15 ST and MT : 163 and 1617 <=match AMD's presentation.
C11.5 ST and MT : 2.01 and 18.02 (scary high scores in 11.5!!!, straight outperforms 6900K which scores 1.77 and 16.77).

Passmark CPU mark
1800X scores 21668, 6900K ~17732.
Yikes! ^^

GB3 64b
ST 4356 MT MT 30932
^^ ST score looks super strong. From here we have 6700K scoring ST 4477(@ 4.2GHZ!) and MT 17688, 6950X ST 3609 and 32031 ( barely edging top 8C Ryzen XD)

On top of these scores we have 4C/8T and 6C/12T Ryzen scores!

This is the video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhKmeCdB914

To sum up the things he stated;

"Overclock is no problem at all. Though we can not say a certain frequency due to NDA, I can say that it is impressive. Overclockers will be happy."
"I have friends from AMD Engineering department due to my experience in the hardware industry. Zen 2 or Zen B will be even more competitive. So we can say that Intel shall brood on the future"
"With our overclocked 1800x sample, under Noctua cooler given by AMD, we have passed beyond the stock single thread performance of 7700k, in a specific bench, and the temps were great. We had no concern about temps during our run which passes the ST performance of 7700k."
"In some benchmarks AMD(!). It seems ironical yes but AMD is presenting a CPU performance that Intel can not keep up with even with their 10 core 6950x!"
"Breaking NDA won't be a problem since the scores are beyond fantastic. But we will stick with the tradition."
"With one click I can reach great OC's. So I won't really bother with the manual OC no more."
"Single thread score will be so great. According to this performance we can say that 7700K will be history, even for gaming, from now on" he said.
"Intel shall shake themself. Because Ryzen will be a great choice for Overclock enthusiast."

Someone from Intel will be very angry.

Believe me, this guys(CPU Monkey) are just calculating based on the things they have. These things are not actual results. There is not even 6 core ES's in the wild.

You might be correct about that website but you are wrong on the 6C ES part. There were numerous leaks regarding 12T ES Ryzens. We even had CB ST and MT scores and even 3D Mark Physics score.

I am very relieved that reyzen works.

There is rumor from a German reviewer, that the BIOS of the most Boards are not ready. Every day comes a new BIOS. And there are a lot of problems with the RAM. And there are problems with the L3$ latency. Maybe some one knows more?

Hahahah. Yeah man. You are right. Just forget about the 6c leak after a lot of 8c leaks.

Last I spent around $1500 on hardware was back in November 2014, when I picked up this 5930K, will likely be building a new box around an 1800X within the next month. Went through a whole pile of boxes back around then and 2013, spending at least $6000 or so and then on-selling, will be good to re-spec something new and shiny. The RRP for the 1800X here is $699 AUD vs the 6900K at $1469 AUD. I highly suspect Intel will start to shit itself if Ryzen really is that good (and it certainly seems like it). Not that I need an 1800X, but then I didn't a 5930K either. Heh. Speaking of which, this 5930K was $679 AUD back in 2014, so this new AMD CPU will be roughly around the same cost.

you're trying to make a distinction without a difference here. embargo is just a shorthand for the NDAs that everyone has signed in exchange for access.

An NDA is a very distinct legal contract, a review embargo is more of a gentleman's agreement (which CAN have legal sway in civil court, but you have to prove damages to be made whole).

If you violate an NDA there are prescribed remedies for your actions that can involve monetary or disciplinary retribution to which you have agreed in advance and are possibly WELL in excess of any damages. There are situations where violating this can even be considered a criminal matter (corporate espionage, for example).

Violating an embargo is much less of an issue and there are no punitive action agreement in advance and it is NEVER a criminal matter.

I believe that will go to the 1600X @ $259 if the pice leaks are true for that CPU. Even if it was priced at $279 it should still sell well.
Well, "$200ish" to me is closer to $200, give or take around $20. At $260, the 1600x is "$250ish". Anybody know when the 1400x is supposed to launch?

I realy hope, that Volker from Computer Base is Intel biased or he is wrong. If not, there are 2 options:

-The mainboard supplier will release a new BIOS until thursday, which will work.

-This will be one of the worst CPU launches ever. The mainboard supliers will release the BIOS in the next weeks or month and the Ryzen trademark is damaged.

Its a brand new socket for a brand new CPU and given how long lasting and flexible AM3 was there will be a stack of BIOS updates.

There were a lot of Intel starts, which had the same problems (most were RAM issues). I hope the press is not too hard to AMD, if not all is100% working and tells the readers, that it is normal on a new plattform.

Remember when they had to pull back all their 1.1ghz+ Pentium 3's because they couldn't reliably perform calculations?

The press always seems to be worst when these issues happen to AMD. Like rx480 PCI slot power draw issue. The world was ending, computers were exploding. Turns out it wasn't a big deal, no computer was harmed, and they had a driver fix like 3 days later.
