actually AMD's score is higher if we're looking at cinebench single threaded.

Ryzen is looking very impressive! I may just jump ship again!

Not sure this has been posted, but thought it was interesting,
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3172...-preview-ryzen-7-outperforms-intels-best.html

AMD actually met with the MAXON developers at the end of last year. One of the changes to CineBench 15.038 was a result of this meeting.”
Maxon declined to say what exactly the changes were with the new version, but the spokeswoman did say performance is comparable.

Interestingly, demonstrations by AMD used a slightly older version of CineBench, which would not contain the fixes in the program.

Yeah except I was going to buy one. Now WTF?

I don't expect to be able to get these for awhile. I feel these are an AMAZING value. A LOT of people were waiting for cheap cores and this is it. I expect these to be sold out for awhile. This is just a HIGH demand product.
New competition to Intel where I can get 8 cores for the price of 4? With a cheaper mobo?

Ya, you better have an alert if you want to pick these up or be at a store early.
I'm at LEAST getting the 1700 for my server this year. Maybe the 1800x since it's only $500 it all depends on the reviews and how my server performs once I complete my enclosure. 1700 looks amazing though 65 watts at 3.7 ghz. Mmmmmmm

Does new RyZen CPU have integrated graphics? If no, how do you compare it to Intel processors?

The Intel processors that I bought always have integrated graphics.

PC Gamer has some live benchmarks.

http://www.pcgamer.com/live-benchmarks-amd-ryzen-vs-intel-core/

No graphs, all videos. I won't spoil it.
It appears that R7 1700 rig is driving lower quality graphics in the DOTA streaming setup. It is hard to see because giant windows are blocking the screen but towards the end of the video you can kind of do a side-by-side. It is hard to tell, with the less-than-ideal filming condition and a phone camera and all that.

Yeah, right at the end it does appear the shadows on the steps are quite different between the two setups. It's really hard to say based on that though, with a smartphone taking a jerky video of LCD monitors at different viewing angles.

what are some of the higher end boards for these chips? I'm looking at the Asus crosshair VI Hero, but some dude in a video said it was a lower end board. I thought it was one of the better ones??

Ok so you can totally OC just one core.. this is awesome.
This is in line with the 25MHz granularity in the clock speeds which was mentioned in the New Horizon slides in December.

The question is about implementation. Say I set two cores to 4.2GHz and keep the rest untouched, and fire up some good ol' CSGO. Will the OC automatically kick in and boost two cores to 4.2GHz? Or is it going to be like MSI Afterburner where you have a set of profiles to choose from which you apply manually? I hope it's the former.

That's the second-to-highest end board for AM4, ATM. The "Hero" is typically the entry-level into the high-end ROG line of boards from Asus... but I sure as heck wouldn't call it low-end. Middle-to-high end. $254.

I bought one

Has the top end board been revealed yet? For comparison, I have an Asus P9X79 Pro, which is one step below the Deluxe and its not even in the same high end category of the other, more expensive Asus X79 boards and this one has served me well. It overclocks just as well as the others and that's my main concern really. The more expensive ones typically have more features, bells and whistles etc, all of which I have never needed or found myself wishing I had. Maybe the VI Hero is the one for me then. I'm so turned around shopping for an AMD board. I have no idea what is what in terms of branding or anything.
I still think a LOT of people are holding their breath to see how well these things OC. That is so important, but with a boost of 4.0 it should be a pretty decent OC I'd think. I hope.

X370 chipset, high number of phases, neverending ports, stickers and a coaster (you know you want them), and a reasonable pricetag for an entry level luxury vehicle RoG board.

It's just a cross hair hero, aah aah aah

Everything ryzen is sold out in sweden. The thirst is so real it is crazy.

Amd will take a big chunk of intels market.

With those 8Cores ??? I highly doubt it, they need to start selling 2-4 core APUs or 4-6 core Ryzen SKUs to really start taking some serious market share.

it might not though.

Exactly. We can assume that yields aren't that bad that all 6-cores actually have non-functional cores. So they are binned and the top bin (1800x) can probably OC higher than any other SKU. I also suspect due to rumors that there is a hard limit from the process (at reasonable voltages). Hopefully it's above 4.5 GHz but from what we heard anything above 4.3 seems to be very unlikely.

In high-end market? Absolutely! He meant the market slice that these R7 were released. They are meant to compete with 7700k and over. The higher end of the market. And that has been milked by Intel for a long time, with ginormous profits. That means AMD can sell a 500$ CPU and seam cheap!!! And still make a boatload of money. Lol.

Don't get it. I don't see it actually offering anything worthwhile over the Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero.

Don't expect big overclocks from Ryzen 1800X. These large CPUs traditionally have a hard time overclocking due to their heat density. 4.2Ghz should be considered a good overclock on air. And 4.4Ghz practically a miracle. High-end water might get you 4.5Ghz.

However, it should be possible to push a few cores towards 5Ghz considering it was achieved on one core already with an engineering sample on air.
