I'm annoyed at that Iranian leaked review honestly. Paired it only with 2133mhz RAM and used resolutions like 1366x768? 1600x900? If you've got that much money to drop on a mobo and that cpu surely you have a 1080p monitor at least. Tetsing ita t that resolution is arbitrary at best.

The memory latency thing though seems to be high like every leak says. What is up.
They are testing at the resolutions their readers most likely are using. Here in the states that won't be the case. You can clearly see as the resolution goes up the gap gets closer. At 1440p and 4K the gap will likely be even less.

Nicked this off Overclockers UK forums:

Its the third slide from that earlier leak using the Core i7 6800K and Core i7 7700K. So that is eight core vs eight core now.

The 1700 apparently does have a seemingly nerfed version of xfr, and you need an x370 board to use xfr.
Based on the slide it says "twice the xfr headroom" for x versions. If this is true, the vanilla 1700 will clock to 3.75 Ghz on single core.

Let's see how that goes on the real reviews.

My biggest question is whether a good 1700X overclock is going to be comparable to a good 1800X overclock. It looks really good if it clocks similarly.

Considering that in their demo it took watercooling to get 1800X to clock 100Mhz above stock boost clock, that "nerfed" version does not look relevant.
The irony of xfr being hard limited to 100-200mhz compared to all the marketing talk is priceless.

The issue here is that they are using 4k scenarios and the only game i trust to be CPU limited on ultra settings even on Titan XP (that they use) is Civ VI... That Ryzen loses. And AotS that Ryzen ties. OTOH the differences on other titles are too pronounced to be GPU caused.

I am confused O_O.

My biggest question is whether a good 1700X overclock is going to be comparable to a good 1800X overclock.
Would not be surprised if the difference between them was 100-200Mhz. Is 100-200Mhz worth $100 (or how much was it)? You decide.

Amazing what being handed a Ryzen CPU can do to one's viewpoints on the product.

It's like my nVidiot friend when he was astonished at how fast and clean the graphics were on my system (no idea what video card I had). He asked how I did it... I told him I was running a 5770. He just about blew a gasket.
The fact that when receiving and trying that ryzen made him change his thought patterns, kind of tells us what we need to know without reviews

Given how they are marketing the 'X' parts, I have a strong feeling that they are going to be binned and thus better for overclocking.

Crossfire requirements (complete list):

2~4 AMD GPUs running same GPU die (cut-down is fine).
Both installed in the same system at the same time (enough PCI-e x16 slots)
Proper driver installed.
Crossfire enabled in driver.

That's it. No special motherboard/chipset support is required.

Yeah but B350 doesn't allow splitting the 16x lanes from the CPU into 2x8xlanes.

Again confirmed in newest leak (see above):

So all three have XFR. The X models get a 100Mhz XFR boost, and the 1700 gets a 50mhz XFR boost.

Thus the X models have twice the XFR headroom of the non-X models.

Kaby Lake is just 6.5% faster clock-for-clock in Cinebench.
We're past the event horizon - headed for the singularity in less than 24 hours.

1, HEDT is only 1% or even lower
2, With KabyLake release in January nobody would go for X99
3, Everyone knew Ryzen was launching in Q1
4, Everyone knows SkyLake-X is coming in Q3

1+2+3+4 = Even without Ryzen, you would be stupid to even consider X99 today.
And Intel doesnt even have to sweat, they had Broadwell-E in the market for almost a year now, they made up more than what they spend for R&D. No need to lower prices now, they would sell less BD-E anyway, better sell less at those huge margins than cannibalize KabyLake sales with price cuts

What am i reading? Cant be serious here....

1. So just because its only 1% of their sales they wont care whether from this point onward they sell any HEDT CPU?
2. Yeah, except for all those people who want more cores than 4.
3. Ryzen´s price to performance ratio was not known up until maybe 2 weeks ago
4. Q3 or better said Skylake-X is potentially half year away. If someone is about to buy a new rig now, unreleased CPU/platform is not really gonna help him.

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = if intel drops prices of the BW-E line-up to a level competitive with Ryzen, there would be absolutely no reason not to consider them. Unless you would refuse to buy from them on principle for their price-hiking before Ryzen, which i admit would be something they deserve.

EDIT: I cant quote for life! Not on Opera, not on Chrome, not on Firefox! It used to work, now it does not! Is it just me?

Dual Channel/Dual Rank/4 DIMM : 1886
Dual Channel/Single Rank/4 DIMM : 2133
Dual Channel/Dual Rank/2 DIMM : 2400
Dual Channel/Single Rank/2 DIMM : 2667

so hopefully they patch bios Later to support Dual rank up to 3800Mhz.
