I think the only one you can really try and claim that is the 1700 and that's assuming that it cant clock as high as 1700x or 1800x because it would be a chip that wasn't good enough for server from a clocking/power perspective and wasn't good enough for high clocks. Otherwise every chip that isn't a 7700k, 6950k or 2699 is a reject and at that point the word is kind of meaningless.
Meaningless unless one is getting touchy about semantics like a see a lot of people doing here. Ryzen is generating a lot of well-deserved interest, but I think it's best to be calm and not read bad intentions into relatively innocuous statements.

Can you just cut the crap? honestly? /Sebastian Vettle, The chips that we the highend desktop like are actually different to the chips Server market want.
We want the high clocking high leakage 4.5ghz + capable chips. 32 core Server wants the low leakage, low power in 2-3ghz target range.

So no not server rejects, your just wrong.

OK. Let's think about it logically. What's the market for consumer 1k and 1.7k CPU's? Now how big is the market for those chips when you give little to no appreciable increase in gaming performance? What if they are actually slower in game performance?

No the other side of the coin. What's the market for a 1k server chip? 1.7k server chip?

Short answer is one market is huge like Godzilla huge compared to the other.
One is the the cost of 90% of full systems in its market and the other one is 1/4 to 1/8 the cost of systems in its market.

The dies are the same. The configuration roughly the same. Even the chipsets have been roughly the same just given a different name with some different priorities.

So what would be the most likely situation. They spend millions specifically making a process for on chip that sells in the thousands and lucky if end of year shipments have them selling in the tens of thousands compared 100s of thousands they sell of the same chip in the other market? Or that they use chips that wouldn't work as well in their intended job for the larger use case and work better for the other one and bin them for that smaller market?

Wow. 1700X @ stock, air cooled, beating my 6700K in ST performance on CPU-Z. Is this real life?

Posted a cpuz of the stock 1700x scoring nearly 40% higher than a 3.2ghz 6900k.

That seems excessive. I don't trust that at all!

Wait.Just don't rely on CPU-Z , instead , look at others.you will be disappointed If you believe in CPU-Z's score.one thing for sure is that AMD's IPC is at least equal to Haswell and It has decent performance.

Will AT actually have a review up? Or will their head story tomorrow morning be a review of a new budget cell phone released in India?

Though I believe that they're working hard on the release, especially with some of the last minute bios fixes, I had a good laugh at your post. They do seem to love doing those kinds of reviews.

I can't believe there are persons expecting AMD to overtake Intel on full performance. That's some wacky expectations. To truly go from basically the last in many things to the highest in one Gen with AMD's budget is quite the unrealistic expectation is it not?

AMD will end up truly competitive, NOT performance leader. Why do people keep raising the performance bar to the top?

When it comes to price/performance, then yes, AMD will be on the high end of that list. NOT outright performance king though.

I hope I'm wrong on even performance king, but I think I'm not. Especially the clock speed AMD's cpu's are shipping at.

If you simply need over 200-300fps @ 720p then buy Intel.

If you want to game with good frames, but still want to encode, broadcast, twitch, and whatever your gaming situation, in real-time at the same time, you may want to consider Ryzen.
what if we want 500+ fps? https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5x04ll/ryzen_1700x_cpuz_more_tests_coming/

As long as this thing has more single thread performance than my sandy bridge, I'll consider myself lucky for gambling on a preorder. I feel fairly safe in that regard.

The clock speed wall Ryzen seems to be hitting reminds me ofthe original Phenom. Phenom II was fundamentally similar to Phenom except it added some extra L3 cache.

I had a Phenom X4 9750 (2.4 GHz stock) that wouldn't go beyond 2.8 GHz with any amount of tweaking. Phenom IIs would regularly hit 4.0 GHz, and hitting 4.4 GHz wasn't particularly rare.

If AMD can refine Zen like they did with K10, they'll be fine.

What words have i eaten, we dont know enough about Zen latency yet, Passmark reports my ivb random latency as 74ns. Passmarks latency single click test reports latency as only twice my L3 latency (20 something), AIDA reports it @ 50 something ( at work so i cant look). if i was to guess i would say the core or the L2 perfetcher is matching passmarks read pattern wouldn't you?
Not only passmarks, that's the point. Every single latency measurement out there sits far behind. I mean, sure, a certain folks could be right and that's just software failing to detect it properly. But then they better bring evidence of memory performance in operations per second.
Looks like you haven't been keeping up with issues in silicon production, WATTS per mm, power hot spots, etc
AMD does not particularly care about WATTS per mm on consumer SKUs, just look at the clocks. So i guess those are the server rejects, after all.
The chips that we the highend desktop like are actually different to the chips Server market want.
Does not stop either AMD or Intel from cutting those from same basic design. Evidence? GMI links taking half the die and Broadwell-E being literally a server reject.

Can someone explain the "Likes Received" thing to me? I see people with thousands of messages and only a few hundred likes, then there are people like me with nearly equal counts... does the counter reset for one and not the other? Or were all the "Likes" reset at some point and everyone started over?

The Likes system started with the move to Xenforo. You'll see some users with a lot of likes because the system is easily gamed (there's one or two free likes threads in Off Topic), but it's also rather easy to garnish likes in the other forums, too.

It's rather meaningless, but it's also harmless. I guess it's more useful in the technical forums since a good answer to a question gets more likes.

The users with few likes either haven't been active lately or post in threads with little activity. Or they don't post comments that are easily likable. Probably a combination. It's definitely easier to post pithy, witty replies and get likes.

There's this "rent a like" thread in off topic section of the forums, anyone partaking gets a free like

Interesting...

Now, that's just silly. I at least "earned" mine. All on Ryzen threads as well, I believe
