Anyone know why my RAM latency is shit? I can't get it to 3400 sure but its at like 90ns in aida. I have the latest updates on my asus x370 and my tridentZ 16-18-18-38. I have it at 2600 16-16-16-38.

Of course I would like to have that. Point is that 3200MHz is already way more than the current DDR4 standard frequencies suggest. I have understood that all the chips are anyway based on trimmed 2133/2400 sticks. I'm just afraid that if the very high-end 3600MHz+ sticks works only occasionally, there will be little effort to make it better. It's just not profitable enough when big masses are just fine with 2400-3200MHz level. It's AMD's architectural design that their CPU speed relies on the memory bus speed. It's nice to know that you can make your rig faster by just updating memory, but DDR memory market is just so much bigger than AMD and it's advancing very slowly.

DDR4-4000 has been available for over a year, and the OEMs selling those DIMMs have a pretty good handle on how to bin for those speeds. The demand for more fabric speed is there. AMD needs to answer that demand one way or another.

Probably from the loose timings. DDR4-3200 14-14-14-32 on my Taichi + 1800x yields mem latency of 73.9s on a casual run with applications operating in the background.

Not to be a pessimist, but there's also the possibility that support for memory around 4000+ won't be available until Zen 2 next year. Maybe this could change if they allow command rate 1T/2T toggles in BIOS? Who knows.

It did take Skylake a while to support the highest end memory speeds so I wouldn't count on the May update going much beyond 3600, if that.

That video tells me nothing. If Ryzen is not at 3200mhz ddr or higher that is the issue. Things change with fast ram in Ryzens favor.

Firstly your TrudentZ is likely Hynix chips, not Samsung so you're not going to get 3200. Which Asus x370?

The Ryzen Cpu's only lose to a stock 7600k by ~ 12% overall and a 7700k well it destroys them.
If you overclock, the Intel cpu's would be even more ahead.
I only see Ryzan cpu's gaining minimal Fps when overclocked, because they don't overclock much.

Nice chart though ,it about sums it up.

hmm, when I looked at comments, I found out why.You did really have the hard time to figure a subject.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a stronger example of confirmation bias than in those comments haha - holy cow.

Well honestly the OP of that thread/article was the most biased piece of crap I ever seen.
That's why I reacted so blatantly biased and trolled the AMD fanboys so bad it carried over to this website. So don't take the bait from another web site. Reporting posts as I type.
I thought that was obvious.

examples of his BS:

" And we all know how Intel's line-up has almost been torn apart by Ryzen's aggressive core and thread-count"

"all of these assert AMD's dominance in a pure price-performance ratio"

"Intel scrambling to respond to a launch that caught the blue giant squarely with its figurative pants down"

"over the now defunct and best-forgotten Bulldozer debacle was something Intel wasn't quite counting on. Intel had three choices: keep its stalwart posture with no price decreases on its line-up and see Ryzen CPUs flying off the shelves,"

"to handle Ryzen's core and thread dominance"

"those are all decisions that now show us how ridiculous it is that Intel is selling two-core, four thread i3 processors for the premium it has"

"enter a collision course with AMD's expected X399 platform, which again boast of higher core-counts - and probably better performance-per-watt - than Intel's offerings"

"which are supposed to bring Intel back in the mainstream processor game"

"
"I think "scrambling" is a more than fair description on the current Intel landscape."

The article was ridiculous and the OP was written by the News editor and staff of Techpowerup.
He interjected his biased opinions, and over the top wording the best he could to make Intel look like they have no Idea how to run a business.
I've posted there about 25 times in 6 years, and now you can see why.

If I wanted to stealth troll, you would not even know it till the report button was hit 4 times..
and this a little off topic so carry on with your thread,
thanks
