IMO that blake kid has the most talent of the whole bunch. he's multi-skilled & fresh.

as far as pure singing ability goes, i'd have to go with melinda.

the whole sanjaya thing must have to do with the race card. much like why yao ming was always voted the starter of of the all star game over shaq. i wish the skinny kid would drop out for cripes sake!

I think the idol this year is between Melinda and Lakisha...but it doesn't matter...I would bet they both get records.

Ya, my daughter was noticing that Carrie Underwood was looking a little thin. I didn't particularly notice it, but I can't imagine that's not the marketing machine at work.

She might do just as well at her last year's weight, but I'm sure somebody, somewhere gave her the #'s that it could mean the difference between platinum vs. multi-platinum, more $$$, etc. etc.

If we all recall, Kelly Clarkson did the same thing just after she said she'd never fall for it.

They can both sing..in their genre. Let's see how they do when they have to sing something that's not R&Bish or sung by an african-american artist. If they're one trick ponies, they're gonna have problems.

The other thing is that neither have the 'look' of an American Idol. It *is* a singing competition, and they've got it thus far, but it's more than that, too.

I was trying to pick my top 6 last night, and I think I came up with it:

Chris, Chris, Blake
Gina, Haley, Jordin

All have shown range and ability, and the rest I'm not as impressed with.

I think he's the only male who appeals to the 10-15 yr old girl demographic who watch the show to vote for cute guys. After he's voted off, who are they gonna vote for? He's the last teenage male.

Oh please. He is cute, and he can sing. He isn't the greatest singer, but he has a little voice on him. It just isn't powerful. He is just young and inexperienced.
I would have voted for him because unlike any of the other guys, he is marketable.
IMO he would do the best as a solo artist at this point in time.
He needs to quit screwing around and put some effort into it though.

Same way the other cute boys and pretty girls are marketable right now. (Lindsay Lohan, Aaron Carter, Paris Hilton, etc..etc...)
