I figured Scotty would win, good luck to him. I was critical of him and the show because I gave the show a shot for the first time since it's been on the air and I was hoping it wasn't what I thought it was. It's what I thought it was, lol.

Anyway, Judas Priest? WTF? I actually tuned in for a bit and caught Rob Halford walking around screaming with James. James has a great voice and he's versatile, I hope he doesn't rope himself into doing just metal for his entire career. I like hard rock/metal among other styles but metal is a tough gig as a career choice. If it were 1986 it would be a different story.

Haley and Tony Bennett was cool.

Yeah, I was amazed at how good he sounded. I pretty much hate Metal--perhaps moreso than country and "rap," but that was badass. My second-favorite of the night to Mark Anthony and J-Lo's ass.

Hell, Tom Jones can still belt it out, too. Tony Bennett has lost a lot, but that's been the case for many years, now.

The night began as all finale shows do. The two remaining tributes were brought out dressed all in white. This is a strange tradition, isn't it? I suppose the all white outfits are meant to project a bit of divinity, of pure bright specialness. Does it work? Like so many fashion things on this show, oh mercy no it does not. The girls never look too bad, but the boys in their white jeans and white denim jackets tend to look like the boy band's reunion concert after they all died in a bus accident. "Yo dude, is this heaven?" "I dunno, man. Let's sing a song about it." It's very silly. But it's the kind of nice, familiar silly that we, or at least I, have come to love. The blinding white clothes of finality.

fortunately, she is unbeholden to the horror that is the American Idol record contract, at least after a few years.

I'm pretty sure she won't be forced to sing some shitty Kara Dioguardi songs, either.

well, one might hope.

It's hard to say though--she's not a songwriter, to who knows what kind of stuff she will be singing. Maybe 2 covers on her album and whatever else she is contracted to sing. It seems that maybe Jimmy (Interscope dude) will be working closely with her, so that is a good sign.

When I heard this song on the radio, I was thinking this was sung by a country band like Rascal Flats. To my surprise, it was sung by a former Idol contestant.
