wow, people didn't like Haley "growling?" That was fucking awesome. the wort part was the BBBB Benny part of the chorus. way too soft and underutilized for her arrangement. very distracting.

the rest of the performance was tits.
Haley's recorded studio version of Benny and the Jets is even more awesome.

Back to cleaning toilets for Noxema. Thia has a great voice, but no personality at all. Not surprised by the results. Hopefully Haley can finally get the boot next week.

Noxema :awe: :awe: :awe:

I'm not surprised by the results either, though I would rather Paul left than Thia.

really think it should have been Stefano instead of Thia being eliminated

oh well. it's not like she was going to win this year's American Idol. I think she can sing her ass off but with this year's talent pool, more is needed than just being able to sing well.

Here's my prediction for the final 3:
 • Casey
 • James
 • Pia
Casey - He has a ton of natural musical talent and charisma but his voice isn't all that special. He'll make a great music producer but it's hard to see an album of his selling in any quantity.

Pia - Incredible voice with amazing range but boring, boring, boring. Zero charisma and no imagination. She seems so self-absorbed it's hard to believe she could ever relate to an audience.

James - A true entertainer and someone who honestly looks like he's having a blast on the stage. However, he needs to get away from doing stadium anthems and get a bit more personal. If he had done Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (an immensely difficult song to sing but one within his unbelievable range) this week without all the bombast and running around he would have cemented himself as the solid # 1. Not listening to Jimmy Iovine in the studio was somewhat of a mistake, even though he still did justice to Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting).

Edit: Paul should have been eliminated tonight. He is horrible. No range, no power...a one-note voice.

whoa--that was pretty sweet. a little too soft for me, though. Bet the haters would certainly prefer it to the live version.

Glad to see Naima gone--though I though her Reggae arrangement wasn't bad--was actually pretty awesome for that song despite what the judges seemed to think--I mean, it is meant for Reggae, it was weak performance, and she has always been weak.

surprised to see Thia go. I think she's good, but she bores me every time so I really don't care. But I assumed she has an audience that would keep voting for her.

I don't know why, I like Paul quite a bit--though I agree that many of his performances have been pretty bad recently.

Tracks of My Tears last week was pretty good--but if anyone remembers, Lambert killed the fuck out of that song. Still the best performance on AI that I can remember. Fucking insane. Smokey and Barry Gordy were in the audience and gave him a standing O. insanely good. comparing to that, it was hard to remember Paul. (for one thing, Paul did not understand the lyrics--at all.)

(there's an HQ version, but this one has idiot Kara's idiot comments. )

outside of Rod Stewart, Paul doesn't have much. I actually like his awkwardness, though. Mick Jagger is no less awkward when it comes to stage movement.

Yeah, I was surprised too. I thought Stefano was the weakest performance, and has already been in danger a few times. Plus, with Noxema, it would have been all of the judges "Fail Cards" knocked out swiftly. I liked Stefano though, I think he's had some really strong performances (I thought with Motown week, his was the best). His Wild Card shot also knocked it out of the park (The judges letting Noxema and un-Diana Ross through--let alone allowing them to even try for it--wtf).

Oh well, he'll probably be gone soon enough. I wouldn't be surprised if Casey is gone soon. He's still my "favorite," But I'm still mostly uncaring about this season, though I "like" more of them than I've liked before

--Pia, (amazing but fucking boring. always good to look at, though :wub, To Tastes Like Chicken: LoL, the GF and I always try to guess if she's going to move her arm upwards with palm up or down. It's a 50-50 shot guessing her stage performance for the night. SHe has pipes, though. Serious freaking pipes.

James--I can't believe I keep forgetting about this guy--I love his insanity, and yes, He does need to slow it down a bit and really give his voice a shot. He's that good.

--Haley has the best female voice next to Pia.

Paul--I liked him in the top 32. Now...I can't decide.

--Jacob is always good, but I'm sick of the gospel.

--I hate that type of country music, but Scotty is solid. Probably, the most consistently good, seriously knows what he's doing and who he is, and what he wants to do contestant. I always forget about him, but he's always good, even though I could give two shits about his style of "country."

That dude's set over anyone else. He can get booted next week and he'll be the next <insert top-selling country star here>. Great country voice, consistent performer, humble, and good looking. I know next to next about country music tho.

Naima blew it doing a reggae version with the Jamaican voice and all. I really like reggae and dance hall and thought it was good but a bit off. Middle-America would not get it at all.

Agreed! And he's the hometown hero here in my small town of Garner, NC

They've got signs up at the Lowes Foods where he works (about a few minutes from my house) that say "Go Scotty" and they have cakes/cupcakes in the bakery department with this name on them.

But he is consistent, never misses a beat and will EASILY have the strongest singing career of anyone left in the competition -- even if he gets booted off like you said. He just has "it". Besides, with a few exceptions, not many of the American Idol "winners" ever make it big. It's always the ones that got booted off that end up doing better.

And this is coming from someone that abso-fucking-lutely hates country music.

They even have some Scotty signs up at my Lowe's on Louisburg Rd in Raleigh. No cupcakes though.

That kid is gonna get so much p*ssy "offered" to him now though. I say "offered" because he seems to grounded and "wholesome" to bang groupies left and right

I love Paul, but anytime anyone sings a song that Adam Lambert or David Cook did, it automatically goes into the "NO WAY IN HELL DID YOU DO THAT" area for me.

That duet Lauren and Scotty did last night was SO cute. Loved it. Release that as a single, you two!

On another msg board, someone didn't like my criticism of Pia as the most boring individual on the planet, as I'm mistaking her confidence for being boring. Sorry sister, but this show isn't entirely a singing competition, it's also a push to get you to sell records, and she is so boring. She doesn't have that "it" factor. Such a shame though, she is a really good vocalist. Horrid performer. Get rid of the pageant arm.

I like Scotty too. His low voice is rare, and so I don't think they've ever had a country singer quite like him. But he does bare a striking resemblance to "MAD MAGAZINE" mascot, Alfred E. Newman

Part of the mentoring process should include how to bang groupies.

Yea I dont care much for country, but Scotty is set forever now. He needs to distance himself from Idol ASAP and go work on an album.

Agree 100%. after the last two performances, I was thinking--this guy is in the zone. His crowd will eat him the fuck up, and it's like he's already touring.

He'll prolly be in the Grand 'Ol Opry as fast as Underwood.

I also thought that the Reggae arrangement was perfect, but Naima just blew it--as she always did. Not her worst performance, though, but it could have been much better.

Haha, yeah. When Jennifer Hudson was on last week, or whenever, I was like: HOW THE FUCK DID SHE LOSE THIS? ...I think that was Kerry Underwood, Bo Bice, though? Underwood is certainly no slouch, of course.

Surprisingly, Studdard is, I think, the 2nd or 3rd highest selling winner, even though practically no one has heard anything about him since winning. Why? He's all in the Christian/Gospel world, where they just eat anything up.

lol at "pageant arm!" so perfect.

Her voice is insane good, but she looks completely uncomfortable up there. She needs to take some lessons from Scotty and James, arrive somewhere in the middle.

Very happy it was predator faced niama that got voted off. Worst one by far in singing talent and looks IMO. She could strip the chrome off a bumper just by looking at it.
