i've got the Corsair PC3500 PT, not the LL stuff. memory is just set to SPD defaults.
I've installed intel application acce raid edition, would that effect anything. should i have installed it?

If you are running the raid array on SATA 1 & 2 then yes Intel App Accelerator from the cd should be installed.

What are the memory timings at "by spd"? Try forcing the memory timing to 2.6.3.2 and bump the memory voltage to 2.7.

Install either Silent Tech or Motherboard Monitor and monitor system voltages and system temps. What drivers are you running for the Radeon? I use the Cat 3.2 for my 9700 Pro.

What operating system? Any service packs or hot fixes installed?

Well, got the board swapped out and happy to report that all is well. My voltages are ROCK solid, though the +12v is reporting 11.55, and the vCore likes to hang out at 1.50, even though the default setting for the processor is 1.55v. I'm sure that is just the board sensors reporting incorectly or something. I've got 2,6,3,2 on the memory, and was able to run Prime95 without falter. Still need to flash to 1.03 though. I'll be shipping the old mobo back to AJump for a refund. Already got my refund from newegg for the PSU RMA. THey rock.

I just added the Logitech Elite keyboard, Ratpadz GS, and MX500 mouse to the lineup. Now the only way you'd be able to tell I had a Dell before is by my LCD, which I am not getting rid of. I'm happy with the setup now.

I'll try some O/C tomorrow if I have time. I'm seriously considering the Swiftech H20-8500 watercooling kit. The radiator is small, so you don't really get the best cooling, but you get silent cooling. I could add another radiator to an intake and double the cooling efficiency. But by doing that, I'd be adding another foot or so of tubing to the setup. Not sure how that would impact performance.

Anyhow, everything seems A OK on this end with the new mobo.

ive just testes my HD scores on SandraSoft, now they have decreased to about 32000, it used to be about 48000. whats happened?

Did you do a restore point before doing the automatic updates? Did you install the 811493 update? This is known to kill performance if you have a virus scanner with real time file checking enabled.

Also there is another update I have not identified yet that reduces the raid scores. Going to try and see which one later.

My suggestion is to use system restore to restore to a point before running the automatic updates then install service pack 1. At that point you scores should be back to normal. Set a system restore point and install the updates one at a time, seeing which one kills the performance.

Again, do not install 811493. It is no longer listed under critical but now under recommended since it is known to affect computer performance. Here's a link to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;819634

Does anyone have any problems running Crucial memory on this board? Trying to find solid memory for stock speed settings.

The OCZ PC3200EL and PC3500EL work great at 2.6.3.2 timing.

Thanks for the reply. OCZ seems aimed at overclockers and, while the specs look great, it's more expensive than Crucial and I'm not planning to overclock.

Is anyone using Crucial memory on the AX4C Max? Is it stable at stock speeds? I'm planning to get two sticks of 512MB and I'm willing to spend money for quality, but I'd rather save my dimes if I'm paying for the ability to overclock when I just want quality that is stable and reliable.

It's only good for changing voltages it seems...If I change the FSB it locks...I think it may have something to do with the ICH5R.

i found when i installed directx 9 it reduced my HD score to 52000, will have to try 9.0a

Well...that score is on my second partition of the raid with nothing on it. On my C: partition I got around 55k but it wasn't defraged at the time. I'll test it for you when I get home.

I'm getting 61,000 on sandra HD with my raid raptors, which is my primary hard drive.

I'm also using the same settings as you, 2.8C at 3.35Ghz, what sort of temps are you getting.

I've tried to run Prime95 test, but it stops after a few iterations, not rounded accurate enough, what do that mean. Will running at this speed become unstable?

Up you vCore so it's 1.63 actual.....I'm set it 1.675 in bios.....Also...I did bring it down to 238......Forgot to change my sig...

My temps are with 29C motherboard temp....32C at idle and 51.5 with Prime after about 15 minutes....

I've set mine up same as yours, looking good at 3.33Ghz so far. Will be doing some video encoding to stress out the processor. Not bad, and extra 500mhz for nothing.

Yea....works good.....
Go to Aopen and download the new r1.04a Beta bios.....better memory support....I can now run 2.5,2,2,6 timings..... @2.75 volts....I'm still testing though....
