Mine works but you can't do much anyways....All you can do is change your voltages.....anything else makes you lock up. I don't think AOpen tested it woth a raid setup.

Yea, the only problem I have with mine is the AOpen software. Even when you can get a program to run, it's pretty useless. For example, they recently posted a new version of WinBIOS(the one that came on my CD wouldn't even recognise the mobo), and it "works". However, if I change any of the BIOS settings I have to reboot for them to take effect, so like what's the point?

So shoman, how is the beta bios working out for you?

Regarding the problems with sata, Aopen openly (no pun intended) admits that you should no use sata drives if you are OCing because of the high frequencies. This doesn't quite make since, as I believe two have a direct link w/ 233mb/s theoretical, and other two can be dealt with using pci lock. Doesn't make a difference to me as I am utilizing a 0+1 SCSI III setup, and the Hercules suits my needs. But, you might want to try using an ide drive and see if you can stabalize your system.

Anyway, my board is on its way and I was just wanted to know how the beta bios currently available is working out for present owners. Once I have my system setup I will post my OC results as I am using a WC system and I am hopeful that I can get this puppy in between 255-265 given the results posted by the Aopen crew on their site using only air cooling, and what i have seen on this thread.

Here is what my setup will be if your interested:

AX4C Max
2*512 Geil Dragon PC3500
4*36.7GB SCSIII running RAID 0+1
1/2 High Volume Water Cooled; 130 cfm Delta

I am excited to see if I get any performance boost on the HD using the Hercules slot. On my GNB board I have been able to get 122 mb/s sequential, and I am curious as to how close I can come to the 133 theoretical threshold of the pci bus. The reason on bought this board as opposed to the other Canterwood boards. May be slightly slower, with all things being equal, but the differences are nominal in the synthetics and should not have any real world effect. Plus the price was right.

The 1.04a bios is working great but I ONLY recommend it if you run your PC 24/7 and overclock OR not 24/7 and you do not overclock. On cold boots it will have checksum errors resulting in a default BIOS and you'll have to redo all your settings.....restarts are fine...just cold boots.

EDIT: BTW...A new BIOS....r1.05....will be released soon...

i've been having problems with cold boots with the beta bios. thought I had a problem with my processor because i've overclocked it too hard!
Any Ideas when the new bios will be released. getting a bit annoying having to set all the parameters every day.
I could go back to 1.04 bios I guess

Just keep your PC running.....It better for it anyways......IMHO.
I was hoping this week for the new bios but ...haven't been told yet....

Well that could be problamatic. Since I water cool my rig I am a wee bit hesitant about doing the 24/7. Call me paranoid, but my resevoir and pump occupy a space above my PSU (unusual case config, and while I fabricated a water tight enclosure for a safety measure, the thought of leaving my puter running 24/7 scares me. With any luck the newer bios will stabalize the bios and we won't have to deal with the probs.

I am assuming that the 1.05v is the bios they used for the OC tests posted on their web site. I am also hoping that the high voltage settings that are spec for the Dragon memory will make a difference, 3.1 if my memory serves me correctly. Does the vdimm go that high in the 1.04v?

Hey Guys. Just bought a 2.8 P4 with the AX4C MAX motherboard. The Intel Application Accellerator wont install because I have the 82801EB not the ER! Can anyone explain why I can't find a version for my chipset?

You do have the ER version BUT, the only way the driver will install is if you're using the OnChip Raid or Raid Ready setup. Otherwise Intel does not have an IAA for the 865/875 chipset.

Help!

My CPU fan power is gone. For some reason the fan has stopped working on the CUP fan header. The fan works, plugged it into the system fan header and it goes. I've checked all the settings in the bios and Silent Tek, all are ok and haven't changed.
I've plugged in only the fan speed sensor on a different fan into the header and it picks up the speed, but no power.

Any Ideas??

I've also flashed the bios to old versions then back to new and nothing!

Help!

I an generally very happy with this board and the last thing I want to do is return it and get a Abit IG7-G

Either RMA the board or don't use that port. If you overpower the port it will ruin it. What fan were you using? Model, size and cfm?
Gennerally speaking...using a fan that requires more than 3watts I don't use the fan header.

I've been using a Thermaltake Spark7+ Heatsink fan, it only has a 3-pin plug, how can it ruin the header???

That fan itself is ratedower Input....2.28W ~ 8.40W<----LOTS OF JUICE.

So that fan header had way to much current drawn through it. This is what caused the failure. You should of had a 3-4pin adapter. It is the manufactures fault for not statign this so you RMA it. Either way...don't use a fan header with a fan 3-4 watts...I use the 3watt as my line.

To tell you the truth, I'm surprised that a fan with that much juice requirement only came with a 3-pin plug!! CPU fans that require a lot of juice usually come standard with a 4 pin plug for the juice and an additional 3 pin plug (w/ only 1 yellow control wire attached to it) to hook up to your mobo. Hmmm, 8w through that little 3-pin plug....ewwwww.

<Still anxiously awaiting that 1.05 BIOS!!!>

I ordered a Zalman 7000cu and it just came this morning. I'm going to plug it into a 4pin plug and set it on high speed. I was using the Silent tek to control the Spark7 because of the noise, but now I wont need to worry about noise.

The Zalman 7000cu fits this board. took a gamble and brought it, and its great. Totally silent, can't hear it even on the highest fan setting.

Shoman94, what excat settings are you using, memory, voltages etc are you using to get to 3.487Ghz. What temps are you getting idle and load with that speed?

Any ideas when we should be expecting the 1.05 bios?

Bios is set ot 1.700 volts....248fsb in bios (board overclocks 1 FSB) 5:4 ratio...vDimm at 2.700v
Moved my memory to the black slots also.........

What difference does it make moving the memory to the black slots?
Is it safe to take the CPU voltage up so high?

What Temps do you get? I get around 34C idle and 51C load. With my current config.
