You know what sucks is that Pettitte is out. Just think - Schilling vs. Rocket, Pettitte vs. Pedro. Heck it'd be the BoSox vs. Yankees all over again! LOLOriginally posted by: SP33Demon
Go Stros! Stros vs Red Sox would be a sensational WS! Think of the matchups: Schilling vs Rocket, Oswalt vs Pedro! Both have big bats in their lineups!
And I hope they're happy with their regular season wins. That won't happen again in the post-season.Originally posted by: ElFenix
astros are the only NL team to win its season series against the cards.
Do you deny that Clemens/Oswalt are a better one two punch than Williams/Marquis? This is a huge advantage for Houston, the only good news for St.L is that they won't see Clemens/Oswalt for the first two game b/c of the long series with ATL. So on paper, chalk up starting pitchers to Houston. Both teams have big bats, so that's a wash. Houston's closer Lidge is 10X better than anyone except Gagne and Wagner in the NL, so chalk that one up for the Stros. Overall bullpen slight edge goes to St.L. About the only other things St.L has is home field and a better defense. So chalk up 3 advantages to 2. Either way, good pitching should beat good hitting so I give Houston the edge. Should be a great series nonetheless.Originally posted by: Ilmater

More importantly, I'm wondering why people seem so blinded by team loyalty that they totally disregard the flaws of their team. I don't care if the Astros POUND the Cards and win in 4 games, you still won't convince me they're a better team than the Cardinals. It's like last weekend with the Seahawks game. Yeah, we won, but the people that were on the Rams' message board proclaiming how good we were before that game and how we were going to beat them are just stupid. We were travelling to Seattle against a team that has DOMINATED both sides of the football this season, and there were guys on the message boards talking about how terribly the headlines were going to rip on the Seahawks Monday morning.
You can call them Nostradamus, but I'll call them lucky and ignorant.
Similarly, I will refrain from telling everyone how badly we're going to destroy the Astros and just let you Astro fans know that we are clearly the better team and will prove that throughout the next week.
