I don't care about the vanilla 6800's. I'm building a SLI for 6800GT or Ultra and those are the ones that are scarce. The 6800 is on par with the 6600GT-a middle of the road card.

Alright... $667:

http://www.gameve.com/gve/stor...s.aspx?sku=VC-EVGA-057

...although a heck of a lot of people get by just fine in pretty much all current games with a single one of these... and dual 6600GTs will do even better in Doom3 and the like. How did you survive before SLI existed? Perhaps waiting a little bit wouldn't kill ya.

Oh, I can guarantee it's dead. Makes a nice clicking sound. I plugged it into another PC and it wouldn't boot.

When I pulled it out of the case, the drive was pretty hot to the touch.

I didn't have NCQ turned on. I was running 1003-006 with the default selections when the drive died. Another weird thing that happened around the same time was Norton Antivirus 2005 came up and said it didn't support re-installation and needed to be removed and reinstalled. Also, AiBooster kept giving me errors and upon further inspection, the errors were from the chipset fan reporting negative (-) numbers.

I plugged a small fan into it that I had laying around and stuck it to the side of my PSU with seal string from my prommy.

They work perfectly on my machine with the exact same setup. Dual 200gig Diamond10's in RAID 0 in the SI ports with BIOS 1002.

Ok. This is my first post in this forum, and hello everybody, so forgive me if this is a silly question. I got my Asus A8n SLI board today, with one Crucial Ballistix 512MB 3200 module. I was planning to run my system with one of these, and adding another in the nearest future. I am perfectly aware that this board runs best in dual mode. However, I am having problems interpreting the memory compatibility list at Asus' home site. According to this list, my Crucial module does not satisfy the first requirement, "A", which reads: "Supports one module inserted in any slot as Single-channel memory configuration". Now, does this mean
1. That this board does not support only one of these Crucial modules, or
2. That this board supports one of these Crucial modules in only one of the slots?
In other words, do I need to buy another module in order to make the system run?

Guy Smi, you are missing the whole point. Go back and read the original thread. Things will begin to make sense for you. I know where to find them and for what price. Dual 6600GT's are no better than one 6800GT. How did you survive this long, period!? Learn to read before you jump to conclusions.

What kind of memory is the best for SLI? I have a raptor would that be ok for the mother board also? For the powersupply I also need help. I want something that is silent and has the 24pin connector. Would the board also fit in the NZXT Nemesis Elite Edition? Does any one know where to get a Geforce 6800 GT? All respawns will be helpful.

This just seems odd, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Every time I start up my A8N-SLI to play, I have to select some other game as the Active Profile and then re-select the original Active Profile to get UT2004 to render correctly. To elaborate; I select the Active Profile for UT2004, play and shut the 'puter down. Next day, I fire up UT2004 and the bottom of the monitor wigs out. I then quit the game, open up nVidia's control panel, (UT2004 is selected as the Active Profile), switch that to anything else, hit apply, then re-select UT2004 hit apply and close the control panel. Then everything plays fine.

I just finished this setup, and haven't play any other games. I'm using the 71.24 drivers with two XFX 6800 GTs.

Well, in case anyone else runs into this, I think I solved it. I uninstalled the video drivers, ran Driver Cleaner and reinstalled.

Fumunda, to ensure NCQ is disabled, follow this:
Click Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.
Click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
There are three listed. There are two sata controllers called "NVIDIA CK804 ADMA Controller (v2.7)"
Double click one, then look under primary and secondary to find exactly which controller your DiamondMax 10 is on. My Maxtor is labeled "Maxtor 6B250SO".
If it is not listed in the first one you check, go to the second one.
Make sure the "Enable command queing" box is unchecked.
Restart

I hope this helps.

Having so many problems i dont know where to begin
Ok, here are the specs

Athlon FX-53
Asus a8N-SLI (duh)
2x512 mb OCZ pc3700 el
2x XFX 6600GT's in SLI
2x 36gig raptors raided
180g WD slave

Im pretty sure that is everything thats relevant to the scenario.
1. OK. To start, on powerup this system sometimes does, nothing. I will have to restart by holding down the power button over and over again (sometimes reset works but rarely) and eventually the monitor will actually turn on and even then sometimes i get hung up right before windows is about to load I have no idea what is causing this problem or how to fix it any ideas are welcome

2. I am having problems shutting down. sometimes the system shuts down properly but when it does actually shut down it is agonizingly slow...when it doesnt shut down the little box saying windows is shutting down disappears and then my mouse pointer still works and i have nothing but that aqua screen and a mouse pointer again no idea

3. Video issues I was running all of my games absolutely fine for a day or two and then suddenly, without toying with the drivers or bios or ANYTHING i have artifacts all over every texture in every game again no idea

I have tried damn near every bios revision official and beta and these problems persist with the 1003.005 or w/e they are the startup issues appear to have gone away but the shut down problem will NOT go away same with the video it is really ugly and i have tried updating and rolling back the video drivers nothing works anyone that has any ideas with any of this please help me out this is so much money to spend to have it not work :/

OK, big news as far as I'm concerned. I've just tried out the 1003.008 BIOS, and it seems to be extraordinary so far.

Overclock Pic 1

Overclock Pic 2

Well, you can see all my timings and speeds, and multipliers in those two pictures. This is the first time I've been able to get past 230/460, so to get to 250/500 is very good.

It's a command rate of 2T as you'd probably expect from this speed. A 9x multiplier to take the CPU out the equation, PCI Lock working, and a Sandra bench over 5800/5800. I can't say yet whether it is "stable" enough for 24/7 running, but I've not had any flickering of black screens at all, and I'm still running these speeds at the moment.

The 008 BIOS has no new options in the BIOS as far as I can see, but certainly does something to the ability to overclock. More information as I push bravely towards 520.

Seraph,
Doesn't sound like you are O/C'ing the board.
Unfortunately, I don't own this board so I can't answer your questions.
However, I'm considering this board and if your problems are consistent with others, I think I'll pass.
My last three puters have been run with ASUS Mobo's, no problems with any of them.
Sounds like those days are gone.
Please keep us posted as to your results.

Hi,

It appears that the EZ Selector card is marked backwards or something. I can't get the system to boot with one VGA card in the PCI_1 slot and the selector card with the single video card mode selected. (Single Video Mode connector connected to slot) If I switch the selector to dual video mode then it single card mode will work. This is opposite to what is said in the manual. The opposite happens for SLI mode. Can anyone confirm this? I am also pissed that I can't get SLI to work with the selector set to dual mode as this should enable 8x + 8x. In SLI mode with the selector card on "single" the system shows the 6800 ultra as 16x in the nview properties and SLI is detected. If I switch the connector to "dual mode" SLI will not detect but in nview properties the system now shows the 6800 ultra is running in 8X which appears to be correct as SLI needs to be 8X + 8X. The only way I can get nvidia to detect an SLI setup is to have the connector set to single card mode but that sets the slots to 16x + 1x which is incorrect.

Any help please?
Can someone confirm this same problem?
Is the EZ Selector Card marked backwards?
Can someone please help me get SLI working with dual mode selected?

Thank You.

Thank you for your reply. With the selector card set to dual mode, I have tried both "AUTO" and "SLI" the nview will detect 8X PCIE but no SLI.

Could you give me fast estimate, which of these you think is the fastest for gaming and desktopuse(I have just one gf660gt, and it's kind of bottleneck):
218mhzx11(aggressive timings) Made 3dmark record with this - gives best pifast scores
230mhzx10.5(kind of aggressive timings) Using now
240mhzx10(slow timings)

Thanks in advance..
