Yes, it was Cool and Quiet.

Now it's reporting this data:

The overall performance hasn't change though. And what baffles me is the fact that it states Channels: 1. While CPU-Z reports my 2 gigabytes of RAM as Channels #: Dual.

Is Sandra wrong? Is that Channels entry for a whole different thing? Are my results so bad for non OC memory with those timings in Dual Channel?

Hi I am currently running the A8N-SLI Deluxe with an Athlon64 3000+, 512x2MB of OCZ 4400 Gold, 1 Geforce 6600GT running in x16 mode, an Enermax Noisetaker 475AX-VE-SFMA and my system drive is a 74GB Raptor II and I have two other drives, a 300GB Maxtor 16MB cache and a 250 maxtor 8MB cache, all SATA all running on the NForce SATA controller. I have turned NCQ off for all drives. What is strange about my system is that I can overclock to about 277 or so running 1:1 with 2T, 2.5,4,4,10, but after a long time (or even sometimes a short time) I get either IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL or PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA or sometimes even just a STOP 0x000000024 Ntfs.sys error.

I know its not my voltage, because all my rails are completely stable and just above their expected values... 12 is 12.03v, etc. I don't think it has anything to do with heating, because I have lots of cooling and it doesn't seem to be related to system performance. Last night I turned my timings down to 2.5,6,6,11 and ran 3dmark05 20 times in a row and it finished them just fine, but sometime afterwards I was just reading the internet with firefox and I got the 0x000000024 ntfs.sys error. I am beginning to think that it is my hard drives, but I am not sure what about them it would be. I have a fan blowing on them and they are seperated enough they shouldn't really be heating each other... and I have S.M.A.R.T. on and it doesn't detect anything. Oh one other note I have run MemTest86+ in the overclocked setting for like 10 hours with no errors at all. Do you guys think its my raptor? or maybe just the NForce SATA controller? I don't have any spare IDE drives lying around to test with right now, but I have tried reformatting the Raptor with no success.

Oh, and one more thing, I have had similar problems on the 1002 bios and all the beta bios's that I have tried, including 1003 beta final which I am currently running.

Thanks for any help you can give,
--Jayded

Can someone help me? The onboard sound for this motherboard is very echoey on my headset, and it is really annoying me, especially in Quake 3 engine games. It is RealTek AC'97. It didn't happen for the 2 weeks before I got my Evga 6600GT PCI-e. I reformatted, installed everything in correct procedure, and the audio is very tinny in my headset. Thanks. I have the drivers for everything from the CDs, none from the Internet, because I had the normal drivers on the Nforce 4 CD before my new vid card/reformat and it was fine.

It wouldn't post the first time I tried to turn it back on, same problem I had 2 weeks ago after I re-arranged my cables. I'm using the 1003-05 beta bios, and saw that alot of people had the same problem with computer not posting after a reboot.

Well it's up and running right now, but I guarantee that if I reboot I will have problems. Sometimes it doesn't post, sometimes it freezes and BSOD at detecting devices, etc. Other times it goes through just fine, and I can run 3dmark, prime all day. WTF?

Only version I see with Asus auto-update util is 1003-06 beta dated newer then my current. Should I take the link off these forums for the 1003-final build, or go with the 06 version? I really want to iron out this problem and won't reboot untl I update. Thanks!

1003-007 and -008 are making people happy. 1004-002 is on the german FTP.

The board seems very sensitive to changes in power consumption. I found that if you follow the Clear RTC RAM procedure in the manual this solved my problems.

cownipples, it seems to me like you are running 2T command rate if you are running 1:1. I get higher memory benches and my memory is running at DDR433 2-3-3-10 1T. Has anyone been able to overclock at 1T past 240 yet?

Ok, thinking about flashing to 1004 bios and was wondering the consensus on it. Anyone tested it? I'm still getting the wierd post problems after completely powering down with the 1003-007 version.

Ah Atom...I've read all your posts since the beginning of this thread.
Curious, where did you get the 1004? Asus only has 1003 final?

I was on the site today and saw an official bios release, it is the 1003 and its NOT abeta. I have it in my comp, but havent tried anything more on the fsb yet, ill post back with my findings.

Also now after reading all the 60 pages of posts I'd like to ask the best, brightest and obviously most devoted.

From what my setup shows in my signature, what do you guys recommend doing step by step to get the best overclock and not mess anything up permanently?

Thanks,
Sterling

Just installed BIOS v1004-001. Seems OK so far. Still have problems with video shimmering/halo effects running games in SLI mode, non-SLI mode works great.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIOS/Socket_939/NVIDIA_Chipset/nForce4_SLI/A8N-SLI_Deluxe/">ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/AS......LI/A8N-SLI_Deluxe/</a>

It adds new warnings for CPU and CHA1 fan speeds, but nothing else that I can tell because I can't read German. It reduces the FAN speed at strange times, though, when under load, causing an annoying resonance. I'm back at 1003 due to that and my memory still won't run above 240 1:1 with 1T.

Oh, by the way. One good thing is that my system is Prime95 stable at 270 HTT with the HT at 4x, giving 1080 mhz. This is faster than the BUS would run with my nForce3 chipset. Not that this makes much of a real world difference, but it's fun to have.

Since 1003 Final BIOS (and all 1003 betas) didn't resolve my problem with dissapearing Maxtor NCQ HDD, i'm still with 1002 final.
Did anyone with the same problem try 1004-001 ? What changes are made in this BIOS ?

Hi

Reading through the thread I haven't seen anyone say "Hey! NCQ works now!".

Has anyone tried this with the new bios (1004)

Cheers peeps

People are reluctant to test NCQ until ASUS have confirmed it is working. Enabling it then finding it still doesn't work means a corrupted and often irreperable (?) operating system. I for one won't enable NCQ until the 1004 final comes out and says it's fixed.

Thanks ajmiles!

Yeah, I've read lots of harrowing tales of multiple re-installs etc. (Yuk!)

Can you tell me where I can watch out for the latest news from Asus on this please? It'd be nice (Although I'm sure you can almost guarantee they are) to know that Asus are working on the NCQ / general drive issues. So any Asus announcement pages etc would be cool.

Has this issue been firmly planted on Asus or do we think Maxtor could still be in the frame?

Thx in advance

Rich

With 1003 final and 1004-001 beta, I can now run 2T, 1:1 at 310 with no problem (3-4-4-8). Still, 250 is max with 1T, but I think we're getting there!

Hi guys!

Been avidly reading this forum, however it would appear not well enough! I've recently purchased a a8n-sli deluxe board, however for some reason I assumed I could run a ATI card through it :/

I am using a x800-xl card through thr PCI-e slot, the system powers up, all case fans and even the fan on the board are working. However I am getting no signal to the monitor at all. Is there a incompoatibility issue with the nForce4 and ATI cards, or is it another issue ?

Thanks for your time!

Edit; Please note I am not trying to run a SLI setup.

Infekted have you tried reseting the cmos? Unplug the computer, take out the CMOS battery, switch the jumper to pins 2+3 for about 10 secs, reinstall the battery and power up.

infekted.... where did you get your x800xl? If you have a PCI vid card try putting that in and getting to bios and setting the Init Display First to PCIE (not PCI)

Also, I think that anyone and everyone should let Asus know about the Maxtor NCQ problems...!

I'm running a X800XT with no problems. Only issue I had is that I had the Memory installed wrong at first when I set the board up...rest was user error lol
