I keep having a lock up issue that I can not seem to track down. My machines keeps locking, ussually during heavy disk activity. I've switched power supplies, SATA cables, switched RAM, even tried XP 64bit RC2 so I could try totally different drivers. I've tried all bios versions, currently on 1004.001
I have 2 SATA Maxtor 80 gig Diamond Max 9 in a RAID 0 array off the NVidia RAID controller. .

John,
I don't know the best RMA route, it depends where you bought the board from and what their policy is I guess. Also I don't know how you'd deal with Asus direct from the UK (I'm in the UK too but I haven't had to do this). As for other suggestions, I suspect you're going to have to wait for the US to wake up!

It seems I cant install any sound card if I do it craps motherboard. I put a SBL in the first one and lost all PCI detection, 1394 and Marvel Lan. The second board booted fine and all devices were back in Windows, I installed the SBL in middle slot of motherboard booted up let windows install driver then system locked. A reboot and it just keep cutting off. Shut down removed live card and no more boot nothing could not make it boot. Third board from another source, booted fine all working well shut down installed a new ( though I would try a new sound card) Audigy 2 ZS gamer in midle slot system booted loaded drivers locked up. Reboot system would not boot. And yes I disabled on board sound in bios. I heard others say they disabled 1394, the extra lan to get system to run, first should we have to disable items just to get a system to boot? I have other systems with more then this installed and the bios and windows work out the IRQ's and memory address's. Second I tried disableing everthing and system still will not boot with Audigy card installed. So far I have not lost the 1394, Lan or PCI detection as before but I only tried the Audigy a couple times and after 3 boards I am afraid to try again.
Will return board to local vendor tomorrow, I allready replaced the first board with a Gigabyte had no problems what so ever with it. Now It seems I am stuck with second board as Comp-U-Plus wont take it back. Seems there are so many returns of this board shops are starting to tell customers to call ASUS. Well I guess If it cost me $240.00 to learn Asus is crap then maybe it was worth it. I have saved over 300 pages of online complaints about this board now to send to Asus wonder If they even care.
And for all you that have your running smothly I am happy for you but I expect more from a board then one that "will only crash 3 times a day and is somewhat stable" as others have posted or "gave up on sound card install, onboard isn't to bad" For the money this board should be rock stable and you should be able to install any SLI capable video card, and memory should run in dual mode not just a few makes. And If you want to use a SBL or Audigy sound card then it should work fine. And lastly If dual rail P/S didn't work it should be noted in manual.

I have a Zalman 7700 installed and it is fine in the direction towards the USB connectors, but I believe it does overhang the top of the board very slightly. Perhaps 1 or 2 millimeters over the top edge of the board.

Yeah, wait for the US to wake up!
Like these boards are made in the US !!!!
As if we can afford to make motherboards in the US!
Got to admit. That was a real joy to see.
We'll sit tight waiting for those UK motherboards while we revamp our US Plants!
Give me a break !
After months of this thread, that post had to say it all!

Have you tried turning off Command Queueing and Write Caching from device manager?
When used together, these can cause major data integrity issues.

NCQ is application based.

Oops I think you misunderstood what I meant. When we were posting it was day time in the UK and night time in the US. What I meant was that other posters in US might have some ideas but we would have to wait until they read the posts (i.e. when they woke up). It had nothing to do with motherboard manufacturing (which I know is not done in the US or the UK), no insult was intended.
