Indo, the store was Computersonics in Tukwila. Just got off phone, and they say THEIR order is back ordered now too. They are going to get some word tomorrow; but the boards may not be in till the end of the month. sigh

Hey,
I asked for a sticky for this mobo back in late November...well we got it. At this point I almost wish I hadn't. I see a lot of us being gouge for this this mobo. PLEASE, wait just a bit longer, don't play the game...I think most of us will in the end find that DFI has the best SLI solution...however that is just personal opinion. Does anyone here know the term "hard-up?" Think about it. If you can wait just a couple of weeks...best wishes for you and your over-priced mobo...let us know how it turns out.

I think anyone that pays more than $175.00 for the NON SLI or even the SLI is insane.

!st it's been proved that a raptor single 10,000 gives better performance than any raid systems (real world), NCQ has also been proven to take up some CPU resources, 3rd these boards where supposed to be out OTCOBER so expect any board you get (1st gen) to be BETA and BUGGY, especially with the rumors that Nvidia is having compatibility problems with true NCQ HD's, 4th, you can buy a SATAII card when they come out......(the lack of SATAII cards should be a red flag) and 5th, by the time the 1st BUGS are sorted out and you decide to buy, AMD will have released AMD 64 series chips with SSE3 at .09, and most mother boards will be priced in the $160 area....

So go aheads, pay for something that should have been out months ago, hasn't really proven to be all that, and missed the Holiday targe dates (HUGE friggin red flag).....

Sorry if I seem peeved, it's just that reading some of these bas tar ds OEM/VENDORS tyring to STEAL from those EAGER to get the nforce4 boards makes me really angry.

You make some good points. I myself am holding back on an nForce4 purchase right now because in addition to prices being obscenely high right now, the lack of a true SoundStorm replacement would actually make it a downgrade in some ways from my current nForce2 board. (A $200+ downgrade.)

Somewhere around the beginning of this thread, someone said the XP120 would fit.
I'd also like one of these early adopters to confirm before ordering one.

hey alex, let us know if there's a decent amount of room with the 7000, cause i'm looking for a 7700. I already ordered all the components and the mobo should be here tomorrow, but i just went ahead and got the retail CPU ($154 on newegg, booyah) so that i'd have something to use while i wait for an answer. The things i'm worried about are the capacitors to the left of the socket and the top PCIe x16 slot. If the 7000 is okay with the capacitors, then it will be with the 7700, as well, but if the 7000 is really close to the PCIe slot, then i might not be able to squeeze in a 7700. Oh well, as long as the 7000 isn't too loud, i might just go for that instead, or an XP-120.

Here's a site that has it for pre-order for $190.99 I can't recommend the site one way or another, but at least the price is headed in the right direction.

Be sure to post pictures and what case you put it in! I want to know if the fins of the board hit the DIMMs or if the go over the motherboard and could possibly interfear with the case.

A single raptor is better than any basic 7,200 RPM Drive. NCQ takes up minimal CPU resources, everything takes up CPU resources. It just not measured as such because it you can't even measure it at all! They've been working on the boards since october they are not going to be buggy! There are no S-ATA II card because no one needs them let alone there are barley any drives that are S-ATA II, its backwards compatable anyway. They haven't missed any dates! Your points suck.

Hey all! (been lurking on these forums for a while, but finally got around to posting)

I'm happy to say that I've got all the parts ordered for my new SLI system. I feel I got a fair price, however I may be waiting for a few of the components to ship for a while.

Anyway, I was curious if anyone could provide a bit more information on the EZ_PLUG feature of this board. I've read a bit about, but I'm still slightly confused towards its purpose and exactly what it plugs into (or what you plug into it).

If anyone who has theirs already or has read more about this than myself could provide some input, it would be greatly appricated!

Thanks! And good to meet you all!

I posted on another thread that I got it from buy.com for 190 or so shipped. But since then, I have cancelled my order. I don't think SLI is for me.

W00t, my board arrived.

And as I promised I have taken some pics with my Zalman 7000A installed on it and it fits with plenty of room to spare. I can't wait till the rest of my parts come so I can put this thing together, I am waiting on my 6800 GT PCIe to ship.

Here are the pics:

Would it be possible for everyone to stop buying these boards for twice the MSRP, so that resellers will lower the prices and I can afford one?

Thanks.

HaHa.

Pre-ordered the board from buy.com, hopefully it'll ship soon. I have a pair of Corsair Value Select PC-3200 DDR400 (512MBx2) and i noticed on the Asus QVL that this pair is not recognized for single dual-channel support. Does this mean there's no way that I can ever get this ram working in dual-channel??Asus QVL

Can anyone who actually has one of these boards running tell me if that little fan between the two PCIe x16 slots is loud? I read somewhere that it runs at a like 8000RPM and it worries me, I am trying to build a quiet system.

Thanks

Hello there

The EZ Plug thing takes one of those Molex connectors - the same that powers an IDE hard disk or DVD Drive. You won't need to use it unless you are actually using 2 gfx cards.

If you want to use SLI it's better to use one of the new ATX 2.0 power supplies introduced on the new socket 775 Pentium 4 boards. These have a second 12v rail and use a longer 24 pin plug instead of the usual 20 pin one. Don't worry, you can still plug a 20 pin plug in there, but it's essential to use a fairly powerful power supply if you are using 2 graphics cards.

The ASUS SLI board has a red warning LED next to the EZ-Plug that'll light up if the cards aren't getting enough power. Plug in a lead to power up the EZ-plug and it should do the trick. I assume that if you have an ATX 2.0 PSU you won't need to use the EZ-Plug at all.

I plan on using the Asus A8N-SLI as well, and in reference to bharte's question, I have a question of my own. I am unexperienced with dual channel memory, although I just did buy a 1gb dual channel kit. I went with sort of an off brand - Patriot. These modules are capable of 2-2-2-5 timing, using the latest Samsung chips. Now, my question is after I install the memory, how can I detect if I am actually running in dual channel mode? Thanks for the help!

Slightly off topic, but relevant too many of us waiting for the A8N - those of you that are getting PCI-e high-end cards - where are you getting them from???

I would imagine it'd show you during boot-up or could just Run Adia32's memory benchmarks and see the your proc dominate everything else
