I sent email to the site and Tamas quickly sent me that back; supports nforce4 and A8N now.

Runestone, the sensor section still displays a CPU temp more than 10C lower than AsusProbe or Nvidia monitor. However, I notice now that the temp labelled "aux" is synced with these other two monitors. What is "aux" exactly?

I'm not exactly sure; thought it was the vid card temp. My temps through Everest sensor page are almost the same as Nvidia monitor- a couple degrees diff.
Did you get the sound card sorted out? I would suggest dumping all the creative entries from registry.
Along that line, I had to force the drivers for my M-Audio card to install in XP.

Is the other method better, or would I max out at the same speed? (2.2Ghz) I'm just curious as to why it's not getting over a simple 200mhz OC.

Thanks guys!

Have you dropped the HTT multi from 5x to 4x? You can't get much above 220FSB without doing this, and to get above 260FSB you have to drop it to 3x

I do however get BSOD from a CAS setting of 2.5 (even at stock 200mhz). I don't get BSOD with a CAS of 2 or 3. Could this be my winchester's mem controller giving me issues? I am running OCZ 4200EL Platinum which is Samsung TCCD chips rated at 2.5-3-3-8 @ 263mhz, although it has no probs at 2-2-2-9 at 200mhz. I have tried coltages 2.7 through 3 with no avail.

Does anyone know any other applications that can monitor VDIMM?

I have heard several people are having trouble with the Diamondmax drives, on this board. Turn NCQ off if you have it turned on. Search these forums for Diamondmax and you should find plenty of discussions about it

I have heard that this board has problems with the CAS 2.5 setting, however mine seems to work fine at 2.5 with the OCZ EL PC3200 platinum rev.2

ClockgenNF4 and CPU-Z are free downloadable utilities that show CPU voltage among other things. Google for them

Thanks Runestone, I uninstalled all the creative drivers and cleared everything Creative related from the registry. Then after installing it in PCI slot 1 (where it would at least boot but hang on the desktop) it successfully launched XP with no problem.

I reinstalled all the drivers, but when the installer restarted the computer shut down and never powered back on. I reset manually and it hung on the Asus splash screen. I reset again and now it has booted into XP and the sound is working!

This makes me VERY nervous. Why is this being so flaky? My speculation would be some software conflicts (but why would that be affecting the system during and immediately after POST?) or worse case some ESD damage to the Audigy.

Please consult your motherboard manual to determine how to disable

Someone knows how to fix this thingie?

Thanks

If you set the mem clock in bios to DDR400 and the FSB to 201 or higher, then boot up, it will lock the PCI bus. This should make the nTune message go away, although I haven't tested it, because I don't use nTune

WTF! The reason I bought the DiamondMax 10 was to check out NCQ!!!! Oh well...

My RAM is made from the exact same chips as yours... What voltage are you running?

Also, CPU-Z detects VDIMM? I thought it could only see core voltage. BTW, both Clockgen ( i got a pre-release v of this one, so I will try the true release tonite) and CPU-Z show crazy different core voltages... Is there a CPU-Z version that is supposed to be for nforce4?

IS anyone getting an error when trying to update the 6.31 Nvidia chipset drivers? I download the XP drivers and unzip them into the same folder, but when I execute the file, it gives me a windows error.

If you are making a reference to the drivers downloaded form ASUS's website.... Yeah I had the same problem.

I am running off the drivers that came on the CD for now...

I have a strange problem. I'm not quite sure what it is right yet, maybe drivers, maybe power, or maybe something else.

I have a brand new A8n sli deluxe, PX 6600GT Leadtek winfast, 550w antec true power, windows xp sp2. i installed nvidia drivers, cd leadtek drivers, and newest leadktek website drivers and all give the same problem. i hooked up only the 20pin because my power supply only supported it. i plugged in the extra 4-pin connector around the top middle-left and the ez plug power beside the video card. when i start windows all is well. when i start counter strike source, or 3dmark05 i get blocks of purple or other strange colors and its all distorted. is the memory of my brand new video card fried or something? what could possibly be wrong? will i need a 20->24 pin connector for this to work properly? even the title screen for source is bugged, which i cant imagine puts huge load on the gpu, so im wondering what it is :/

I have been using 2.75,2.8, 2.85, 2.9 volts, with ram speeds from 220mhz to 255mhz. I can run memory higher with 2.95 or 3.0, but I don't feel comfortable running Vcore that high, even though OCZ warranties to 3.0.

You are correct, neither CPU-Z 1.26 or Clockgen NF4 show Vdimm, I didn't read your post closely enough. I don't know of a utility other than AI booster that reports Vdimm, but there must be some out there? Yeah so far the Vcore is crazy on this thing, a setting of 1.6375 in bios, is reported by AI booster and CPU-Z as 1.52, but Clockgen shows 1.375 or 1.40? I have found that if you use clockgen to set Vcore to the max setting of 1.550, it (clockgen) reports 1.45, AI and CPU-Z show 1.57 or 1.58. And if you reboot immediately after setting it with Clockgen it will boot up and stay at 1.57 AI/CPUZ and 1.45clockgen. But if you make any changes in bios or with AI, it imediately reverts to 1.52AI/CPUZ and 1.375clockgen. I've gotten my best overclocks using Clockgen to adjust FSB and voltage.

Are you overclocking the CPU or VGA, if not you may have a bad VGA card? The PS shouldn't be a problem, I've been using the Antec550 20 pin with no adapter and a single 6600GT with no issues.

damn :/

of course no overclocking, at least for now. also tried 67.03. in sec i will see if it is DX only.

are you using also the 4pin power above and to the left of the cpu, and the ezplug power supply connector next to the video card? which drivers?

Yes I,m using the 4pin and the EZplug, I have tested without the EZplug and had no problems that way either

I have 1 XFX 6600GT, and I'm using the nvida drivers from the A8N download site not sure of the#'s,
and what ever came on the XFX cd. Since I haven't had any problems I haven't payed to much attention to the videodrivers/forceware. I did enable coolbits in the registry and overclocked the GPU to 553/1160, at this setting I get a few artifacts at the very end of 3Dmark05, so I turned it down to 546/1160 and all games and benches now run with no artifacts

the first one is the military screw openinng scene on 3dmark05 (i think, you should recognize it barely)
the second is not so noticable, look at the front, the fog, it is mildly affected (this is D3D mode CS1.6)

is this a hardware shading defect or memory or something?

Wow! that first one is really messed up. I am far from an GPU expert, but I would have to guess you got a bad one. If you have access to another GPU(even an old geforce2 or something) I would try it, just to eliminate the possibility of other problems. You might try posting in the technical support forum. There are a bunch of really knowledgabe dudes that watch that forum like a hawk, they may be able to give you a more definitive answer.

hmm i tested open gl 640x480 800x600 1024x768 and they all work (using CS 1.6) next i bump color up to 32bit and there is goes. only 640x480 @ 32bit seems to work.
D3D at anything higher than 640x480 16bit says its not supported.

anything know about this? im starting to think some ram is fried

I bought 2x Leadtek 6800GT's and had the same problem, except it occured all the time, even in the bios and while in dos. I have returned the cards and I'm waiting to get some replacements this week.

Follow-up, the dividers clarification did do me good.
I'm running 3DMark03 & 05 stable (haven't prime95'd yet) at:
10x240, 4xHT, DDR333 1.552VCore 2.7VMem

I'm new to this board, which means that this is my first post.

I've been reading all of your posts and learned some new tricks already. And I have pleasure to announce that
A8N-SLI Deluxe Beta BIOS 1003.005 is out! => http://www.asus.com.tw/support...e=1003-005.zip~zaqwedc

One thing as a quite newbie as a overclocker just confuses me, how do I do 1:1 as for mem/cpu bus with this motherboard? I don't even know what does it mean really. So small walkthrough would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
-----------------------------------------------
Has anyone found out good settings for these memories as for bios already? It would be nice start to begin with.

If you're referring to the CK804 chipset drivers on ASUS download, I had no issues installing them on a fresh XP install. Maybe it's only an issue with installing over existing drivers?

I had the same thing happen to me. When I try to unzip the first file I get an error message. The file on the website is the same on the CD so I would just use the CD. Maybe the first file is some new kind of "zip" file that can't be launched in the traditional way? I used the CD and everything worked out.

So, does anyone have any workable ideas on replacing the little 8000RPM fan with something quieter?

I was thinking a heatpipe that directs the heat to a larger heatsink that is out of the way, but I'm not sure what will fit.

What is the securing mechanism for this and how much clearance does one have to work with?

Any help would be gladly appreciated, I'm going to buy this board possibly very soon and a quiet system is very important to me.

I don't see this board giving much noise. I have added now one large+one small case fan to inside of my computercase. This case has 2xvery large fans integrated, gf6600gt keeps quite much noise, cpu cooler and even 8000rpm motherboard fan and still almost none sound.

My solution, buy nexus breeze quiet case and add some rubberframes to your hds.

Worked for me.

As for the CK804 driver problem, i will unistall my mobo drivers and try to install the 6.31's so im not installing over them to see if that works.

As of now, i cant add in my 160 maxtor ide....the os recognizes it, but any files accessed off it crashes my system.....theres no NCQ to disable. But my IDE DVD burner works fine.... The drive is fine, i added back to a buddys system and accessed files from it no problem. I dont understand this one.

As far as the noisy chipset fan.....I hook mine up to a fan controller...and lower it to about 6k rpm..and it pretty quiet.

Any resolves on the HD IDE would help me out a ton.
