Just re-downloaded and re-flashed and dram timings are there. Either it was just missing/corrupt before or my mistrust of this board is just driving me crazy.

I think I hear my m2n-e talking to me....

Hey, thought I would chime in with my experiences as well.

I'm currently running my 3000+ at 2.25Ghz

250 FSB
4x HTT
ram at 533-4-4-4-12-2t@1.95V
PEG link disabled
PCIE clock set to 100Mhz

No stability issues, no problems at all except for the soft reboot problem at this speed. I am almost certain that this CPU has more to give, and it's just being held back by the board.

As far as the vDIMM issue - it's really irritating. I know (because of AI Booster) that this board will do over 1.95V, and what's irritating is that they don't release a BIOS that addresses the real issue with this board. It probably takes them all of three minutes to add the extra options on the vDIMM and they won't do it.

Oh, and as I wrote this I remembered hearing something about higher overclocks/stability being achieved when the PCIE clock was set to 110 (I think - and this is from what I remember, which usually isn't a whole lot, lol). This could have been with the K9N (which I wish I would have stuck with), but maybe someone wants to try it and see what happens? I would try it, but I'm done messing with this board until the vDIMM issue is fixed.

Oh, and I'm not recommending overclocking, I'm not responsible for you messing anything up if you set your PCIE clock too high, etc.

Forgot to mention, I'm using Gskill DDR2-667 - 2x1GB

Just though I'd update on my situation. After a BIOS update to the 0402 version, my soft boot problems are gone as well. I do however seem to be hitting a wall at about 257-258 on the FSB (nothing new, but I didn't mention it earlier). So, to everyone out there with the soft boot problem, I believe this newest BIOS should help you.

In order to get more voltage for the mem is there a chance we can flash it with a m2n-sli bios?
And if goes wrong is it possible to rollback to 0402? Thanks

So 0402 fixes the soft reboot issues? Sweet... I may start playing with overclocking again. I'll flash that one in tonight.

That's what it seems like - or maybe we just got lucky?

Let us know how it goes.

Ok. It's my turn then...

I had the soft reboot issue around 220Mhz, but now with 0402 it is gone up to 264Mhz. I reached 250Mhz with vdimm at 1.9 and memory at DDR-533 and 264Mhz with vdimm at 1.95 and memory at DDR-400. HT multiplier in both cases was 3x. So it is still not perfect BIOS Update but better than nothing - maybe to reach 265+ I will need more vdimm.

Just wanted to say that since a few posters said the reboot issue was gone and I said it wasn't, I've tried ocing again.
I dropped my RAM speed from 667 to 533 and now I can go past 220FSB without having the reboot woes. With the old BIOS I could not do this even with RAM at 533.

Hello, this is my first post on this forum .
I also have the Asus M2N-E mobo, and I have had soft boot issues aswell, above HTT220. Yesterday I updated to BIOS 402, the soft boot issue is thankfully gone, but the problem I have now is, that when I set the HTT above 230 (with HT @ 4, DDR @ 667) I always get BSOD when booting windows. I tried several settings like putting down the multiplier to 10, and DDR speed to 533, but nothing works. I'm a overclocking newb, I'd appreciate it if any one has a clue, what is causing my comp to BSOD above HTT230.
Thanks .

Getting similar results to Trund over 230 except XP hangs rather than BSOD.
Currently running stable 227*11 = 2497. My 667 RAM running at 533. HT dropped from 5x to 4x.

I don't remember there being a PCI bus settings, and with that number, I'm sure he was talking about the PCI-E bus. I doubt anything would even continue to work with a a PCI bus set to 100Mhz.

I have had the M2N-E for a little over 1 month now. I use this in a HTPC and I can't keep my system up for more than 2 days straight. I have to soft reset it almost 1 time per day. I could be in the middle of something; reboot. The system could be sitting overnight; blank black screen; press reset button on case.

I've tried running Prime95 and memtest86+. Same thing in those utilities, it reboots out of no where and I can't even get a successful test in.

When I first got this board I tried upgrading my BIOS from 0102 to 0302 with the "Crashless BIOS" using a USB flash drive. It fried my BIOS chip and I had to wait 1 week for a new one that came with 0203 on it.

I really don't feel like returning this since I got it over 1 month ago from newegg.com.

I'm VERY leery about updating to 0402 with the usb flash drive, but it sounds like this fixes the soft boot issues that others are having. It sounds like I am seeing this as well.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Trund, try setting HT to 3x.
Inspire, my memory is running default 5-5-5-15 2T(I tried this even manually), that's why I'm thinking of more vdimm...
As for the BIOS updates, personally I prefer the method with the startup diskette and the diskette with awdflash.exe and the BIN file in it(see the user guide). however, after the updating to 0402, WinXP found new hardware(all possible controllers on the mobo) but everything finished ok.

I just tried with HT at 3, same result. Right when it starts to boot windows I get BSOD, I don't know what is causing it. Could it be that I need more Core voltage maybe?

Hi, i've been following this thread for some time now so i decided to sign up and share my experiences...

Like most of you guyz i also had the reboot problems while overclocking, after the 0402 bios update that has been solved for me. Before the 0402 bios revision i could not get htt above 220 without the boot failure (but i think i might not have been decreasing the HT Link to x4 thats why it wouldnt boot properly), but since the 0402 update i've managed to overclock this cpu to 2700mhz. These were my settings:

300x9 = 2.7Ghz (Vcore at 1.5v but for some reason cpu-z displayed it at 1.344v, 35° ideal and around 43-44° load)
HT x3 which becomes 900mhz (300x3)
1 gb ram @ 533mhz in bios (5-5-5-15 2T auto voltage)

The cpu was pretty stable at these settings, didnt crash or anything, SuperPi was 33.26s, passed prime95/3dmark05 without interuptions.
Other settings i tried were:
260x10 = 2.6Ghz (Auto Vcore)
HTx4 = 1040Mhz
Ram @ 400mhz in bios settings (wouldnt go to 533mhz thats why i decided to change the settings around by reducing the multi to x9)

In both of these settings the comp was stable, just watchout for the HT Link not going to much above 1000mhz which might be causing boot problems

Just wondering if people are turning off Cool & Quiet and/or AMD Live! to oc?
I'm keeping them on at present but find that my system won't keep a lower CPU
multiplier setting: eg 10x instead of 11x.

It seems to me that the secret to good overclocks out of this board is Corsair XMS. Anyone with anything other than XMS get a good overclock from this board?

I'm not even attempting to overclock my system and I get the soft resets and sudden system reboots out of no where. I really need to gain system stablilty. Is the new 0402 beta BIOS update the key here?
