Also has anyone tried using the AI Music Alarm? My AI Music Alarm doesn't seem to work at all....

Finally, does anyone have a problem with their SoundMAX audio device? It takes for me to work it at like 100% with good bass and everything, but then there's the control panel....After I restart my computer, the SoundMAX control panel disappears. I tried using the BETA driver from ASUS, but I get BSODs instead.

Many thanks in advance.

I clean install Window and after that I instal driver follow as: chipset -> video card ->sound driver (using install disc of Asus). And I don't have any problem with Soundmax, everything is OK but I'm so disapointed about quality of sound, I see my old Live 4.1 have a better sound, specially about headphone, with soundmax bass is disapear, the sound is mixed togther ->so terible although I adjust equalizer by anyway, I returned to my old Creative Blaster Live. The best onboard sound I see is Sound Storm from Nforce2, but NVIDIA have not developed it anymore.

It's obvious that an integrated soundschip is at a poor quality level, if you're using analog plugs. The whole thing changes if you have an amplifier where you connect your PC to, via S/PDIF. After that the signal goes out digitally (0's and 1's) and the amplifier handles the rest, so the sound is pure and as good as it is from another sources. I use, and I've always used digital sounds with my PCs, so I haven't been in that situation that I would have to concider buying a separate soundcard

But still, the Analog Devices' software is very, very crappy. It really doesn't handle the S/PDIF passthrought correctly, it doesn't send standard signals to the amplifier, so all the channels are not recognized by the amplifier etc. Very buggy soft, and all I can see is always BETAs BETAs and little more BETAs. I'm using Windows Vista x64.

Well guys, can give u a tip maybe for stability, check if your chipsetcooler is on tight.
Mine was not fixated very well, and caused all the crashing for me, i returned my board for a Msii K9N-ultra, and am very happy with it.
Sorry asus but this was my last board of yours....

New BIOS (0502) is up. Have you guys updated and if so is it helping any of your issues?

I feel as if I have had less BSODs since updating, but it may just be my imagination. Only a few weeks until I get rid of this POS anyway and never let Asus darken my PC case again.

You get BSODs on a board in which the manufacturer falsely and blatantly lied about its specifications and features and you say ASUS has been great? I'd be scared to see what you call a bad mobo...

@scriggles - Oc'ing your RAM doesn't really kill it - serious overvoltage does. That being said, with a 1.8v stick, even at 1.95v (board max), I would think you'd be able to POST past 850 MHz - hardly enough to bother your memory. I run at 813 without any problems (24+ hour Orthos DC Stable).

@KeithTalent - Is there a changelog for 0502?

@fotocarel - try manually locking in all of your system's settings in your BIOS rather than letting the board auto-detect. You may try overvolting your memory some 1.95v on a 1.8v stick won't hurt anything. Make sure you use a 2T command rate. PM me if you need more help.

When I said that this mobo has been great for me, I mean it. I never got any BSODs. First, I bought this computer without doing any research so I guess I was also one of those lucky people. Only problem I encountered so far is the stupid SoundMAX drivers where the control panel stops working. I still get sound though.

I had this running for like 3 days and then today is just went all weird on me. I kept getting BSOd and so i decided to update the BIOS, it still didnt work.

Now when I try to re-install windows and the cd doesnt even boot. It just says SETUP IS INSPEPECTING YOU COMPUTER. and then the cd stops spinning and theres a black screen. Could it be the RAM? Im running G SKILL 1 GB STICK DDR2.

The system is
eVGA 7900
Amd X2 3800
ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE
GSKILL 1 GB RAM

this is the memtest

I ran memtest and got like 500,000 errors. I donno guys help me lol.

Not sure Inspire, I do not remember seeing anything. I just took the plunge as I figured things could not be any worse. All it says on the site is "Support new CPUs" whatever that means.

However I was on my PC for a few hours last night doing some intensive stuff and it did not crap out on me, which is unusual, so I am happy so far.

Yeah, you're memory is giving you problems. I'll need the voltage and speed of your RAM in order to give any specific advice, though.

yeah looks like this mobo hates most cheap ram

these r the ram specifications

Cas Latency: 5
Timing: 5-5-5-15
Voltage: 1.9V-2.0V

give your ram 1.95v (board max) in the BIOS and lock 5-5-5-15 timings at a 2t command rate. That should fix you up. If all else fails, you may try running your memory at a slower speed with a divider.

Hello!

I've got a bizzaro problem with this MB...

I recently bought 5 new computers with this MB in them. I just discovered that ALL FIVE of them have the EXACT SAME MAC ADDRESS for the onboard Ethernet.

Even more incredibly... I use DHCP reservations on my network, and I actually had THREE of them ON THE SAME NETWORK AT THE SAME TIME, WITH THE SAME IP ADDRESS - AND THEY ALL WORKED!?!?!!?!??!?!!?

The ONLY thing I can think of that may have caused this is, I updated the BIOS from version 103 to 502, but used the EZ-Flash updater in the BIOS before I saw the note on version 203 to NOT do this...

Help! This is very weird... did I just get unlucky and get a batch of MBs that somehow got their ethernet ROM stamped with the same MAC address? Or did flashing the BIOS from 103 to 502 using the onboard EZ-Flash updater cause this?

I tried reverting to 203 (the oldest version I saw on ASUS' site), uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, etc etc, to no avail...

ok i did this and i also put the RAM into a different slot. It goes into the xp install now but when I try to install XP i get errors like file can not be copied. i thought it was the hard drive but it happens on another hard drive.
Could it stil be the ram? or the mobo is bad?

I guess I could have mentioned...

The MAC address that these all have is:

04-4B-80-80-80-03

Googling on this MAC address shows a few hits referencing problems, but nothing concrete.

If I cannot figure out a resolution in the next day or two, I'm taking these all back and insisting on different MB's...

maybe - run memtest with that config one more time. If it fails, try a lower divider (if your ramd is DDR2-800, use DDR2-667 or DDR2-533). If it still fails memtest, hurry up and RMA it and never make the mistake of buying Asus again.

my pc don't boot if i set the ram divider at 533 or 400 mhz, only 667 mhz works....... and the cpu multiplyer don't work..... enven with the 602 bios ( nothing new, just a HPET support setting description and a message at every boot : tape RAB to acces to the boot menu... )
I don't care of asus because the mother board must have the firewire and move voltage to ram and double ether net in the manuel and it don't have !!
Again, the alimentation of the motherboard is made with only three phazes !!( my cpu vdrop is of 0.02 V, it is a lot...)

Someone asked about this a long long long time ago. It had to do with nvidia drivers for Vista. Well, at least last night, nvidia hasnt released any Vista drivers on their website. But after installing Vista final, all the drivers from nvidia were already there, much to my surprise. So at least right now it shouldnt be an issue for whoever asked this a long time ago.

Anyone tried bios 602? If so, did you notice anything new or just RAM compatibility stuff as usual?

I'm wondering if anyone managed to get a stable system with this mobo and Vista x64. I installed it last friday night and I'm getting several blue screens and freezes, and those were very rare under XP 32 bits.
