*fingers crossed* I have not had a single BSOD since I update to BIOS 0502. I would be one happy camper if my problems were resolved from this.

Will post if anything changes.

I hit a BSOD running FEAR while OC'ed right after flashing in 0602. It hasn't happened since, but that hadn't happened running 0304 while OC'ed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well.

your ram is undervoltaged (??) so try to put it at 400 mhs instread of 533 mhz because really, it will be higher in frequency

My ram is not undervoltaged. These are 1.8v ram modules. I just runned u bunch of hardware tests (memtest86, pc-check, ontrack data advisor, pc-doctor...) and nothing failed.

I was very suspicious of the chipset 64bit driver, but as morganzion system is working fine I dunno what else to think...

Morganzion, how are your temps? Just got another BSOD and checked mine on setup and they seem a bit high: 47 / 42

Hmm, my system locks right up sometimes running Asus Probe.

It also BSODs when coming out of standby most of the time.

Specs:
Asus M2N-E
A64 X2 3800+
2x1GB PQI@DDR2400 (Only seems stable at 1.8v and this speed despite being DDR667 2v ram....)
7600GS

Thanks for clearing that. If you allow me to trouble you again, could you list the drivers you are using?

I just noticed your board is an SLI. I belive those are less tricky.

Right now I've been running Vista 64 bit. I was a bit worried about getting a BSOD like in XP, but so far so good. I'm still on 304. I'm a lil too scared to flash it.

for vista i don't use any drivers, the native vista sound drivers are integrated and it work fine .
If you have some BSOD, set the ram voltage at 1.95V and try to set the ram at 400 or 533 or even 667 at last.

I could do that, but should I? Even if my memory modules require just 1.8v and even if I have tested the hardware with a bunch of bootable hardware tests (memtest86, pc-check, etc.) and got no failure at all?

My system has hit some more BSODs on shutdown running 0602. I'll probably try 0701, and if it doesn't get better, roll back to 0402.

Troc : if you test your pc with memtest and if you don't have any (not a lot) errors, try to reinstall a new windows xp because some of your actual windows files can be corrupted.

how are you guys all getting blue screens? I haven't noticed one just in "windows"... I had a few when I was gaming.. found out I was useing the "wrong" videocard drivers.. so I rolled back to OLDer drivers and it worked fine. I am also useing the Dual Core Fix from AMD ... so problems now.. rock solid.. (701 bios)

Rootwiler and morganzion,

I'm running Vista RTM x64 on the hardware listed below, using Vista native drivers, except for video card (I'm using driver released last 01/05 by nvidia, signed by microsoft). I'm now using bios 0701.

I'm getting A LOT of BSOD's, various kinds (I'm building a rank of the most common). Sometimes I get to work with the pc for some hours with no BSOD. Sometimes I get some in sequence. Frequently I arrive home, turn on the PC, and get a BSOD during login. A couple of times, after a BSOD, Vista had trouble to load, Aero didn't come up and I got some adm messages. On those times I restarted imediatelly, and Vista loaded fine.

I was using XP Pro before, and it was stable. I tested the hardware and got no fail.

Now I'm considering the options:

1. Return to XP (would not like that - I want to know what is happening)

2. Try an earlier bios (like 0402)

3. Disconnect my IDE hard drive (I dunno why, but something in my head tells me to give it a try)

4. Try to work with those bios options (I have everything on auto, except ram timings, ram voltage and ram frequency). But for that I would have to find a way to understand all that (I never interested in OC). If anyone know of a tutorial that explains in detail (not like in M2N-E manual) all those options, please post the url.

Thanks all.

Well Inspire, as I said, the BSOD are various. I'll list the top ranked:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
STOP: 0x0000003B
filename varies: none (most times), win32k.sys, aswmon.sys, tcpip.sys, fltmgr.sys

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 and sometimes 0x0000000A (with no file ref.)
filename varies: nvlddmkm.sys (most times), tcpip.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
STOP: 0x00000050
filename varies: none (most times), usbport.sys, win32k.sys, npfs.sys

STOP: 0x0000001E (no file ref. no error name)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm getting confused, but I believe the BSOD's with nvlddmkm.sys are not occurring anymore after I installed the new nvidia video card driver.

This will sound absurd, but it seems that the BSOD's are more frequent right after I first start the PC, and get rare when I use it for a while... It's like it needs to be warm to work better !?

When I ran memtest 2 days ago, I was so sure it would show some kind of problema that I was almost disappointed when all the tests passed. I'm thinking on trying it again tomorrow with a 'cold' system.

Thank you very much for your interest.

I get a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" BSOD 90% of the time when resuming from standby.

I was just thinking it was because my memory is running undervolted but it passes memtest and the windows memory diagnostics just fine, so....
