Hun, i think the chipset temp is readen at 40-42° but it is not this ! because when you put your hand on it, it is very hot !! so i think asus has modified this in the bios !

hmm, that is odd.. my PC just rebooted on me again.. Just randomly while in Windows.. not gaming and I didn't get a minidump or anything, I checked my temps and they seem normal.. I was wondering what you guys are getting from voltages to your board..

CPU CORE : 1.07V
+2.5 V : 3.20V
+5 V : 4.87V
+12 V : 11:52
+5 V Standby : 4.81
VBAT Battery : 2.96

Is that normal or are you guys getting way different voltages reading? **thinking my PSU is a POS**

the 2.5V don't exist, it is the 3.3 V
your voltages are OK but what is the wattage of your psu ? it must be more than 375-400 W

I'm just beginning to overclock my computer and I'm at the point of figuring out my max bandwidth... So far I'm at 209 MHz @ 1.4 Vcore... my issue is that when I'm in Windows it takes an extremely long time for my apps to load. Once they're loaded they run smoothly but it takes roughly a minute or two to just get into windows and get control... is there a setting that i'm missing? My cpu-z reading for memory says that my Ram is running at 376 MHz at CPU/5.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind of a long shot, but do you have amd cool and quiet on? As it lowers cpu frequency when not needed, maybe the delay is the time for cpu to speed up.

Hmmm... will try that... why not 0502?

Wait... just realized I don't have 0402 and it is not available at asus sites. Why do they have all others, including betas, but not 0402? It's almost like they don't want us to get a stable system! Does anyone have an url for 0402?

Btw... was browsing asus ftp site and found some recent sound drivers for m2n-e:

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/ad1988/

Thanks for the link. I'll look into hosting 0402 if you can't find it. I missed the 0502 completely and right now I'm at the point where if it isn't broken, I won't try fixing it.

Ouch, might just bite the bullet and send this mb back before i even open the box. I've built 5 systems so far and had my share of problems that were fixable; but this mb seems jinxed beyond salvage. I had read several reviews of this mb and they seemed fairly decent with only a few bad ones. Should have investigated AT a bit further, before buying. ASUS has been good to me in the past, but think i might have to jump ship. Thanks to everyone on the thread for the input; might have saved me hours of stress, when i can save my chicken's teeth and bat's blood for other problems. Now i wonder why ASUS hasn't driven a wooden stake through this mb's heart?

It's been a few weeks now with the 0502 BIOS and have not had a single issue under a lot of intense use. Looks as if this one may have done the trick.

Needless to say I am very pleased, but am still very annoyed that it took this long to resolve :disgust:

Hope everyone else gets theirs fixed up.

First some info:

1) I just installed this new sound driver, and it seems to be working ok on my Vista x64: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/ad1988/AD1988_VISTA_61016030.zip

2) Just rolled back to 0502, and no BSOD until now... ok it's just five minutes... I'll let you know in a couple of days

Now the question:

Was checking my voltages on setup utility hardware monitor and, I'm far from an expert on this, but aren't them a bit high?

CPU: 1.39
3.3V: 3.46
5V: 5.16
12V: 12.49

has anyone used / tested those sound drivers .. for windows xp pro sp2 (32bit) .. or should I just stay away from them? Why don't you people try the 0701 bios.. it seems rock solid for me..

I was using 0701. Rolled back to 0502 and, after a few hours, it seems like the problems were reduced (not ended - I believe they will be gone just when a new official chipset driver for Vista x64 is released). But it is still too soon. I'll post a better analysis by the weekend.

I'm solid on 0502 and if it stays that way I will not change my BIOS until I change motherboards (will not be an Asus board btw).

Cool N' Quiet is turned off...

I haven't flashed my BIOS so I think I'm on 0202 or something along those lines. I've noticed that it's really just on startup and I think it's just some of the startup programs I have running - MSN Live seems to be the major culprit. I think what the issue is that when MSN Live attempts to connect to the internet my entire computer freezes until the connection has been established.... so any ideas as to getting around that?

Secondly, overclocking...
System Overview:
AMD 3200+ X2 (AM2 Windsor)
ASUS M2N-E (BIOS 0202)
2x1 GB OCZ DDR2-800

I've since gone back to 200 x 10.

But before I went this is the process I used

I would change

HT Multiplier
From To
x5 x3

and FSB multiplier
From
x10 x9

And start with the FSB at 200 MHz and go up in increments of 3 MHz...

With this process I got up to 218 MHz with the bumping the CPU voltage up two steps (0.075 V I believe so 0.15 V) but I couldn't get it to post after that... is this an alright method of overclocking, with testing in between to ensure stability. Heat shouldn't be a problem as I have a Zalman CNPS9500 installed.

Again, any help would be much appreciated

First of all, a bios update to 0502 could do some good, but I think it would not have any influence on the startup issue.

You should also check your chipset driver version. As it has influence on network, ide, sata and raid controllers, maybe you can gain something here.

About MSN Live, I've read in other foruns users sayng they rolled back to MSN Mesenger 7.5, cause MSN Live is still too slow and buggy. You should also check your antivirus. I have seen several issues on antivirus load causing startup delay. Each antivirus provider has this issue discussed in their foruns.

Can't help you on OC... still thinking on giving my first try there.

Take the advice of someone who has been there: do nothing to your hard drive, no login, no recovery try, nothing, and take it to a recovery specialist company/technician... there, they will be able to recover at least 80% of what you lost, but the price will probably get you thinking about the value of what you lost.

I have problem when play Tomb Raider:Legend, PC hang up after 15 minutes playing (BIOS 0602, I using Sempron 2800+, 1.6@2.4, Vcore df, RAM Corsair Value 667@800 -setting RAM in BIOS is 533- Vdimm 1.85, vid 7300GT no OC), other game are is OK, Half Life, Call of Duty, Need for Speed Carbon....

I must use Clockgen to slow down clock to 2G, RAM to 667, now I can play Tomb Raider: Legend normally.

I don't know the reason: RAM or CPU. I try to raise Vcore to 1.4V, Vdimm to 1.95V but nothing change.

Anybody have any advice? I want to run 2.4G when playing Tomb raider Legend

Im having a problem with my board. Im not ssure exactly if it is the board but I can't do anything to figure it out. Im not getting any video signal to my LCD. I tried componet, S-video and my DVI to HDMI contection. The last one is the only one I ever got any picture from. When I first booted I got video but it flickered and then after about a minute or so it goes blank. I was able to set the memory voltage to my Corsairs to 1.90 but it did nothing. I can't even get a chance to flash the BIOS. The thing is it BEEPS three times and does nothing. I think it said CMOS error something default settings, F! to continue? I can't remember exactly. I was able to boot to windows on my IDE HDD and I believe it continues to boot to window but I can;t say for sure because I can't see it but when I hit the power button it sounds like it logs off. Im thinking its the video card but Im really stumped. Maybe the vga port will work but I havn't tried that yet. When I clear the BIOS with the jumper and the battery out i get video for a a little while sometimes but not for long. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks in advance.
