Thanks for the reply Troc. I have a DVI-D cable to the HDMI But my video card is a
DVI-I out. I was wondering if that could be the issue. I already read some stuff about the beeps Text it says somewhere in there that the beeps could mean a lot of differnt things. Im still looking though. Thanks again. Granted I haven't been able to install any drivers either so Im going to give the VGA a whirl.

Just checked on Windows Marketplace Tested Product List (new name microsoft gave for hcl) and guess what: ASUS M2N-E, our dear mobo, is not there! And the list is for XP (they don't have a Vista list yet). There are many Asus Boards, including some AM2 socket boards, but not this beauty.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I used a vga monitor and still got the same crap. I unplugged the IDE to the CD rom and it worked. So then as soon as I plugged in the ethernet cable and the goddamn screen went off. Rebooted and then I got the same crap. Then I remberer that in one of the threads someone said that they had to push in the video card very hard to seat it properly. So while the computer was rebooting for a twelth time after the Beeeeeep Beep beep beep Ive been getting, i messed with the video card by pushing on it then the like magic the computer posted and the splash screen kicked on. If reboot like 5 times sucessfully since then. I hope this is solved.

Been some days since I rolled back my bios to 0502. The BSOD's were reduced for sure, but they are not gone. I'm also getting some few freezes now... lol. The situation is better than it was before, but it's still far from reasonable.

I just stablished contact with two guys that have a very similar build and are running Vista x64 with no problems. I asked them to list no Vista drivers, memory brand/model, setup configs, etc. I'll keep you posted.

fatty: good to know your problem is solved

Actually I spoke too soon. After I installed the rest of my computer since I only had one hard drive going and one memory stick i get the same problem. I bought a new motherboard to see if the was the problem. I got an MSI from compusa(which I am returning) and it gave me a beep error that i looked up and it says its the video card. So Im sending that back and picking up a new one to see if that will resolve my problem. I don't know it doesn't make sense. Do you think it could be my power supply> Its antec 430W? I don't hink its the board though. Im sure one i fix this problem ill run into all the others. Thanks everyone.

hi just got the asus m2n-e sli and im getting a lot of BSODs during the windows installation even though ive updated the firmware but i think it is because of the RAM. Does anyone know if Corsair pc4200 533Mhz RAM works with this mobo?

Don't have time for a full read, but my mobo gave three beeps when the memory was undervolted. I know it's the POST code for video, but there you have it.

It's all about voltage. You should check on Corsair web site the voltage needed for your RAM. If it's above 1.95 it will probably don't work. You can try setting (manually on setup) ram voltage to 1.95 and/or lowering ram frequence to 400Mhz.

Hi there... I've Kingston HyperX KHX7200D2/512 512M 900MHz running on this mobo with bios 0602 at 800MHz quite reliably. Vdimm set to Auto. The problem is that it is running at the worst possible latency settings which means 5-5-5-15 T2... and which Kingston calls "low latency" Upping the voltage should allow for a marginally better 4-4-4-10 at same 800M. But M2N-E bios stops at 1.95V.

So I was curious, anyone know what's the current status on the vdimm / ddr2 voltage and bios setting "problem"? Is a volt mod still the only way to rise the voltage? Or has someone already come out with a modified bios, perhaps?

Actually I right now used "cbrom215.exe 0602.BIN /group extract" to get the _EN_CODE.BIN from the BIOS file. Inside there it says amongst other things "ASUS M2N-E ACPI BIOS Revision 0602" and "DDR2 Voltage Control Auto 1.80V 1.85V 1.90V 1.95V 2.00V 2.05V 2.10V 2.15V 2.20V 2.25V 2.30V 2.35V 2.40V 2.45V 2.50V Control DDR2 Voltage by software". So the support for higher voltages /might/ be kind of there, but not enabled.

I'm not so good in x86 assembler to find which bits to flip in the BIOS file to enable the higher voltages. Just hoping that someone has already managed to do that

I have the M2N-E since August and it's been a pain in the ass sometimes, but since I disabled the onboard sound card and plugged in my brand new X-PLOSION, my BSOD and reboots and whatever you want decreased alot! I've tried overclocking the CPU again and I went to 240mhz x 10 at stock voltage (something I couldn't do before). I think the onboard sound card is causing some problems, I have the lastest BIOS and my computer is stable even after 48 hours.

but my question... since there wont be any OCs, is this board stable on just stock settings?

hmm... dedicated sound card. i already went over his $600 budget by more than $200.

He wants his system to be cheap, quiet and able to play game LOL The reasons I picked the M2N-E were good price (under $100) and the passive cooling heat pipe.

Well he might be fine, sometimes these boards run great, other times they are sent from hell or something. I know I had problems with the onboard soundcard, every blue screen/freeze/restarts was due to that. And of course, the onboard sound card sounds like ****** for music.

Does anyone know when the new Soundmax audio drivers will come out? I'm currently using the one from the Asus disc. I think the sound is OK, but the Soundmax control panel never works. I still get sound though, it's just that I have to configure all the options in the Soundmax control panel right after I install it. After I restart the computer, it says there's no audio device connected so I change the equalizer. I tried using the beta drivers and I got BSODs. I barely got the chance to remove em.

Also, can you update your BIOS via Windows? I don't have a USB or a floppy drive. I'm using BIOS 0103 and there's nothing wrong with it. I asked a similar question before and was told that you don't have to update the BIOS if nothing's wrong with the computer.
