If you can, borrow a floppy drive from some one. Or buy one they are very cheap.

Hi, I'm trying to understand if my problems are connected by this mobo or it's something else.
I've got that M2N-E (yeah, like they say, "if only I knew") with AMD 3800+ X2 and 2GB of Kingston memory (800MHz on 1.95V), nothing's overclocked, I'd like to have at least a stable system... Well, it is stable most of the time, until I decide to spend a minute or two by some game and that's where it begins - some games go well, while others just hang at some point (usualy up to a minute after mission start and some even in the main menu) - everything stops responding, just the background sound keeps playing for about a minute, then it stops too. If I leave it like that then about a minute later PC reboots. Some games stop hanging when I lower details. I'd tell it's a video card or driver issue, but I have Nvidia 7600GT and tried different driver versions, besides, it's no different whether it's in fullscreen or window mode, and several times such hangup occurred in random situations when no graphical apps were running.
I also thought my Outpost firewall did this, since aside from other "harmless" crazy behaviour it often throws BSODs at me (its driver name's on a blue screen) a few seconds after logon screen is displayed and during that BSOD it apparently freezes just the same, cause it doesn't reboot from it and after I reboot manually there isn't any minidump or anything. But I tried to disable and even uninstall it completely and the problem's still there (didn't see BSODs though).
I've also tried to lower memory frequency, lock PCIe bus at 100 MHz, nothing helps, runned a couple of memory tests and they showed no problems...
I'm totally out of ideas now... any help is appreciated.

Hi all,
This forum is great in addressing issues with this board.
I bought and installed the Asus M2N-E last August (2006)and it has been working flawlessly. I have been using it under stock speeds with no overclocking.
My problem with this board started a week ago when I tried turning it on. After pressing the power switch, nothing happens. No fan spinning or lights on (except green light on board)
I then unplugged the power cable for about 10 mins. then plugged it in, turned the power supply switch on and the computer turns on automatically with fans spinning but turns off after 3-5 seconds automatically I tried this method numerous times with same result.
Next, I tried resetting the CMOS numerous times by removing battery and moving jumper for over an hour but same result.
I then thought it was a power supply problem so tried using a similar PS from a working computer but same result. This was done with only ram and cpu installed. I would like to know if there's a way to fix this or if my board is dead and should RMA it.
btw, my system setup is Antec SLK1650B w/ incl. Antec 350 watt ps., AMD64 3800+, 1 GIG Mushkin PC-5300 ddr2 ram (Dual Channel), Pioneer DVDRW, Antec 80MM fan, BFG 6200LE PCI-E and Samsung 250gig SATA2 hdd.

I've been using this board for about 6 months with no problems. But now I 've got a problem, don't know if it is the mobo or somehing else, but hope to get some help anyway.

Have been running with a WD Caviar SATA 250GB.
Running Win2kSp4
Installed another WD Caviar SATA 320GB, couldn't find any 250GB's any more.
Partitioned, formatted and 320GB seems to work fine.

But - Disconnecting 250GB drive.
Creating 32bit drivers diskette from ASUS CD
Running Win2kSP4 install on 320GB drive
Uing F6 to load drivers.
Looks ok, but will not perform first reboot, 'Error loading OS' - must be boot track/sector problem.

Reconnecting 250GB and booting - find OS installed ok in WINNT folder on 320GB drive
First partition on drive1 shown as 'active' in diskmanager.

Any chances of newer hd drivers might help? (nForce 570) (ASUS CD is Rev.243.02)

Wow those last three problems sound like they suck. All I can say is that I've been running Corsair 2GB(2 x 1GB) XMS RAM at 800MHz, 1.9v, 5-5-5-15-2T and its been stable for a week.

@dynasty8 - have you tried w/ only one RAM stick in...I think people have had success w/ that

Found the solution - had to delete all partitions on 320GB drive from 250GB system, then Win2k install would partition, format and install correctly.

Important was to use F6 to load disk drivers, and to EnableBigLba before partitioning rest of disk. (Win2kSp4)

Does anyone find this board overvolting instead of undervolting? I'm undervolting my CPU right now and my voltage readings are incorrect. Link

I hear the drivers suck for onboard sound. so far I haven't had any problems though. I'm still thinking about a Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer card though

The onboard sound was the cause for my super hyper frequent BSODs. When I switched to the X-PLOSION, it all stopped... Even oc'ed, the board was much more stable!

Hi to all! Excuse for my wrong language, but I'm italian... I got m2n-e, amd3800x2, 2x1gb kingston800 and I have this problem: If I put on the AI NOS 10% the system it's all ok, but now I have mounted zalman9500dissipator and I would like to get 2400-2500mhz... in manual tuning I put cpu freq.240, pcie clock 101, ddr2 volt 1,95 and cpu volt 1,40 and I've assigned frequenty ram as 533. The system boot and regular work, if I turn it off and after turn it on, all work fine, but if I restart it, the boot fail and after all the parameters became as default. I think the problem is that I need the PCI fix, that I don't see in the bios menu.... I've read all this tread and i've seen there're many of you that overlockered successifully this mb. I hope someone will help me, I pray you, no one in italian forums can....

ALL OK! I upgraded the bios to the 0802 version and all works fine! I'm very happy, now cpu runs at 250x10, pcie 100, ht 4x, v.core 1,4. Now I have to affinate the ram timings, I got 2x1gb kingston800, i put them at 667 in bios so they run at 416mhz. timings are 5-5-5-18... How to change them to vork better?

normally the timioing is more less more better.
is depend on ur ram chip set. all my fren say hynix xxx is very good. even ddr2 400 also can o.c to ddr2 1000
u try to make it to 4-4-4-12. i use normal ram also can make it i think ur one also can.
u run superPI will c it can fast more 1 to 2 sec. in same proc freq.
ur proc code name is windsor?i c u said 1.4v can get 2.5ghz,y dun u try to o.c to 2.6ghz?or more higher?the max voltage is 1.5625 rite? try it if u wan.
n i got one more extra" i heard most plp said that make the proc frequency=ram frequency is better, the system can run more fast"
mean >>now u set as 250 n u get ur ram freq. is 416 so that is not 1:1 system<<
u can c below ur ram freq. is said "cpu/ X my one is cpu/6 (2500/6=416.xxx)"
so i think ur one also same. so u try make ur multiper=8,proc freq.=313.HT=3(bcos 3x313=939 HTSpeed cant cant over 1k) ram set to ddr400 or 667 i think. u try make it to bcome 1:1
cos my one max only can go to proc 300. multiper=7 =2.1ghz only n ddr400. then i get 300:300 =1:1. dunno y i cant get more than 300.
after try can u post any picture link share wif me?
hope can c u soon.
n try run as ddr800 timing 5-5-5-15

I found two configuration that work fine: 1> 250x10 - 1,4v - ht x4 - ram at 667 that go 416mhz with 4-4-4-12 (i have to try 4-4-4-10)2t. 2: 260x10 - 1,45v - htx3 - ram at 667 that go 433mhz with 5-5-5-10. People says that with amd dual core is not more important if the ram go in sincrony. If i put them in sincrony with 313x8 (i no tryed that), they will run at 313mhz, but they are kingston 800... they born to go at 400... is no good to see them at 300.... The problem is the limitate voltage from the m2n-e, so I have to choose between quikly timings or quikly frequence.... I don't know what to do.. P.S. with the core at 2500mhz, i tried to put ram as 800, so they gone at 500mhz and the voltage was not sufficient to boot the system.

Sorry about the blank post above, I'll try to get rid of it. In response to jhpope, I installed the new driver and it seems to be an improvement to my untrained ear. Certainly no worse, anyway. Go for it!
